The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

I started playing cloudbuilt again after dropping it a while because I didn’t take the time to figure out the controls.

It was fun. Def gonna play it again tonight. Thanks for the reminder lol.

Meant to post in the platformer thread about it, since it was the title game for some time.

Don’t care.
If I buy a game on Steam and I end up not liking it within 2 hours of gameplay and 14 days of purchase…I’m gonna return it.

Don’t put out shitty stuff then.

after nonsense like Simcity, and other PC releases that are broken right out of the gate, this is needed. Companies want my money? Make damn fucking sure your product is ready to go, when you release it.

need to find me 3 dollars to get sleeping dogs during this sale

Next you’re going to tell me to not buy humble bundles because I want 1 game and I have to break the average to get it.

^ that goes for EVERYTHING.

no I am not buying some shitty stuff because its on sale. its still shit to begin with…

… But… But… My e-peen!

I’m reinstalling the older Grand Theft Auto games to mess around. There are problems with the PC versions.

I never finished Doom 2 because of how stupidly nonlinear it gets.

I can’t really go above $800. Had planned on getting an i5 originally, but more games these days are requiring an i7, so I changed my mind.

1080p is what I’m going on. Don’t plan to go higher anytime soon. What are some reliable motherboards for a build like that? Also a decent casing would help.

yup, i have no shame.

That’s because John Romero only made like 6 levels in that game whereas 99% of the levels in DOOM 1 were done by John. Overall, I like the way DOOM flows a lot more than DOOM 2, especially on random replays.

$4.99. Goddamn.

Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 are legit isometric action RPG’s too.

The metropolitan(city) levels in Doom 2 with the apartments and complexes had me like, “bruh.” I used cheats to get to that point.

The first Doom had great final levels that were bigger and less linear in approach, like the stages in Hell.

Doom > Doom 2

Level design in doom 1 was sick. Doom 2 tried to be bigger, but was still tied down by issues with the engine (only one level of a building was available, there was no second floor, or a way for somebody to be above you… Everything was a ramp or a lift or a stairway). The Quake came along and fixed all that.

I like Doom 2 better but I do agree that some of the level design is questionable, for example in map 15 there’s sections where enemies are on a much higher place than you, shooting you and you don’t know where because there’s no mouselook (talking about the original version of course, sourceports add in mouselook)

Anyone play Wrack? Only played a bit but so far it’s pretty fun.

All this Doom talk reminds me of the book Masters of Doom for some very odd reason!!

When the hell are we getting a new Quake? 4 was okay and i need more super shotguns with railguns in my life!

You guys should look at Mercenary Kings if/when it goes on sale in the next couple of days.

I started playing it a little but it has some potential. Lots of missions, unlockable shit, crafting stuff (if you like that, I normally don’t but it hasn’t been a negative as of yet so). But mainly we could get a party of 4 together to run through it. Could be fun.

There’s nothing right now that currently interests me yet somehow I feel I’m gonna be making many unnecessary purchases come Summer sale

Most of my purchases will probably be for my cousin since I owe him from his birthday though

Hey its me, your cousin! & this sounds like a great gift! in the mean time lets go bowling.
