The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

we’re still figuring out VR.

for sure though if you play a multiplayer game in VR you would quickly understand the possibilities. you know when you play battlefield and you sometimes see the opposing team walk past your team mate because they don’t see each other in their periphery, that doesn’t make any sense, at all. with VR you become more aware of your surroundings and it allows you to use the space effectively as if you were really there. you’re able to even lay on the floor and use one eye to peek through objects and around corners. thats just shooting games

with fighting games say a fencing game, the game play becomes a form of combat art that you actually learn and develop, not just abstract idea of what fighting is but your body actually learns how to behave in the situation. in the near future we make have better haptic feedback for the peripherals allowing you to feel weapons clashing. we’ve already got that but it will be improved on immensely.

RPG’s imagine all those hammy light effects used for rpg’s but on an infinite canvas, so its as if you are in lord of the rings, or Legend, Labyrinth, Excalibur etc. imagine looking into the eyes of an npc triggering them to start talking to you, this perspective allows infinite subtleties to be conveyed to the player. transfer those fencing skills to the RPG and see how your developed movement and non verbal communication bends a narrative around you. theres plenty of visual film techniques that are wasted in games because of the linear “free view” camera, on the most basic level you would be able to look at a sunset and really take it in

imagine a driving game that includes on foot exploration, on foot exploration just to know that you sitting comfortably on a highway in your car some NPC could walk up to your car door and tap on it triggering a conversation. that moment when you see them in your rear view mirror walking up to your car then turning to see them approaching. you won’t get that feeling in a monitor game, you wont even get the exact same feeling in a movie because you are not there, in a film that person may prevent the protagonists agenda, but with you being there it makes you prepare physically to the situation, you will react to it.

these are only a couple of reasons why VR has an amazing amount of depth and possibilities. it makes no sense to try to understand it from a 2D screen perspective

My Wii-U blows all of your PC’s out of the water, get rekt kids, have fun with your shitty Dota 2 and Counter Strike Homo Offensive.

Yup. Just waiting for one of my next paychecks because its hard to justify a new keyboard when mine still works. Going to try to sell my current one.

The most ‘complete’ game I’ve played in a long time.

I may have ruined my life by buying D3+Reaper of Boels this weekend.

I hate my life. I wait 18 years for a Master of Magic remake… And Worlds of Magic is getting shitty reviews.

YOU HAD ONE JOB, YOU POLAK FUCKS.

So has anyone used the following software:

Loilo Game Recorder
GeForce Experience

I wanted to attempt recording a small Let’s Play of a game called “A Mother’s Inferno”. I haven’t tested the former as the later (GeForce) wouldn’t operate with my computer, but wanted opinions if anyone had used them or to know if anyone have suggestions for software.

I use GeForce experience for shadow play. I only stream to twitch, and it works great streaming at 720p/60fps. I haven’t done straight recording, but I’m sure it runs about the same.

Do you have a NVIDIA 600 or newer card?

I don’t even know, which showcases my ignorance about computers. It’s not much information but I will say it runs L4D2 very smoothly.

Well to use shadow play, you need a NVIDIA card at least 660 (I think) newer.

You can try obs, I have used that to stream hearthstone with a camera box (video from my phone). But I stopped with that… I don’t have a mic so it was kind of pointless.

New AMD Catalyst drivers include a tool to record games and it works flawlessly. Best game recorder I’ve ever used and I’ve used a few. I look forward to posting my leet LoL matches on Youtube.

I am going to make a build that utilizes two full-size cases.

I will call it:

Spoiler

The Twin Towers.

Pillars of Eternity comes out in 2 days and is getting some exposure on twitch. It’s hard not to get hype, since there’s a chance it’ll suck… but damn… IT LOOKS SO FUN!!

Can confirm that the thread just shut down for a couple days, I’m not sure why. At first I thought it was just my post, thought maybe I wasn’t supposed to post a twitch link or something. But it looks like it wasn’t just me.

Y’all shoulda chilled with the Windows pirating I guess LOL

what’s crazy is at some point a month ago i was having trouble posting on srk. i would hit the post button but nothing would happen so this weird roll back now has all my posts where i hit post and nothing happened. that’s why there are double/tripple posts from me. sorry about that.

who’s grabbing pillars of eternity?

im outi

Roberth

Pillars looks great. I’ll probably pick it up down the road, depending how long it is.

Oh no. Ohnonono. Why did I do this?

Recently, some random streamer played a popular visual novel from Steam and mimic the dialog to create humor. Upon watching the play through, I was shocked as to how empty all the woman were in that game. Holy shit, I’ve never knew character development was soooo lack luster. The characters were simply eye candy and nothing more.

Is this what weeaboos are into? Do they want a brainless waifu who only want their dick for the rest of their life? Why would you want that? What if you want to strike conversation with your waifu? DO YOU NOT WANT THEM TO HAVE HOBBIES OR AN INTERESTING TRAIT AS TO WHY YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH THEM TO BEGIN WITH?

Nah dawg, they are cat girls who are in heat. Better fuck them.

So star craft 2 parts 1 and 2 both on sale for 10 a piece at gamestop. 100% not interested in the multi player… Is the campaign good?

It’s not that similar to LFD. It’s a fun game. Trying to find the monster is pretty easy, unless you get a REALLY tough monster to deal with. When I play multiplayer, I suck at sneaking around, and end up scaring the birds so they know where I am. And I leave a huge obvious trail of destruction. Got to level three monster only once, online. Using the Wraith, which made it easier. Usually I get to level two, then die horribly in the fucking Arena.

Being hunted four on one is interesting, considering how often it used to happen to me in ragequit-a-plenty Halo games, at least now as a monster, you have somewhat of an advantage. Monster attacks are hilarious too, just wish they were a LITTLE bigger :frowning:

Too many good hunters, taking out monsters too easily.

Anywho, I been playing a lot of Cities: Skylines the last day or two. That game is a ton of fun, too. It’s what SimCity should have been, although I have like a million dollars, and my only problems are traffic (meaning my firetrucks and police and garbage trucks and hearses sometimes take too long to get where they need to be).

Just built a stadium and a nuclear power plant.
