How’s everyone liking the curator system? I think it’s pretty cool. I’m only following two curators so far.

Its a good way to get lesser known games out there from names that (for the most part) you can trust. I’ve got 3 or 4 that I’m following right now (off the top of my head, IGN, RPS, PC Gamer, and Nerd Cubed.).

call me a scrub but, I keep getting my ass kicked in Castlevania Lords of Shadow.
to me, the game is hard!
its a weird game cuz most hack n slash games have your character be able to commit stun/recoil animations on most enemies.
I understand the dude has a whip and not a sword/axe/heavy weapon/etc, but man…
those medium sized beasts that don’t even flinch from attacks and just barrel through them really offsets my way of thinking.
its either parry block or die!
and the dodge roll is invincible yes like in Ninja Gaiden, but the large enemies doing those quake attacks punishing my rolls is like…Aargh! damn this game.
its either jump or parry, and turtle like a bitch.

I think I would enjoy Castlevania LoS2’s combat better from what I’ve seen of the game.

That’s exactly why I think LoS is shit. What’s the point of having an interesting combat system with multiple branches for attacks when you can only do 2-3 attacks before having to stop and parry/roll? I mean, it’s cool to have some unflinchable enemies, but don’t make every enemy have fucking hyper armor.

Without the unflichable enemies the combat would be too easy. The range on the whip is ridiculous. Some of it’s attacks can cover the entire screen.

LoS whip is too op. If enemies were flinch-able then you would be an unstoppable god from beginning to end with no challenge.

Yo, I didn’t say make all of them flinch-able. Just let me feel powerful and shit every now and then.

that’s just poor design IMO. “here take all these awesome options and stick them up your ass cause they are too OP”

My solution Make Gabe a glass canon you can steam roll over the game but if you fuck up that’s your ass.

Makes more sense for the lore too a guy getting 2 or 3 shotted by a were wolf > said were wolf shrugging off attack by weapon design specifically to kill it and other demons.

the thing I dislike the most about the game though is that the game sometimes asks you to solve visual puzzles or some things that involves you seeing something, with a fixed camera.

lol, right now I’m stuck in the vampire kitchen.
game shows that I have to grapple hook a ghoul door before it closes but it closes so fast & I can’t see where I’m supposed to fire my grapple. thank you fixed camera.
That’s assuming I’m even supposed to grapple it open.
I musta tried finding/seeing it 7 times before giving up and exiting the game. I’m gonna haveto look at youtube vids cuz I’m not spending the rest of the night trying to see where this latch is in less than 5 seconds with this fixed camera.
I feel like I’m being trolled here with these demands.

and I’m not saying every whip attack has to do reelback hitstun animations but some should. cuz the only moves that do commit reelback animations are the charge up moves but damn they are so slow to charge and these large huge beasts move so damn fast.
and the A.I. isn’t dumb either.
they don’t just sit there and let you charge up. they always go after you on either your wake up or while charging. any moment the game sees you are wide open and stuck in some uncancellable attack animation the game cuts me to pieces.

its a tough game.
I don’t think I’ve died this many times on a pc game.
I do enjoy challenge but reasonable challenge. like if I lose cuz I suck I accept but its more like, “hey, don’t bother going on the offense first, just sit there and turtle, wait for parry, counterattack after parry, jump random quake moves…rinse & repeat.” a lot of the game revolves around the parry. too much of it though against the bigger stronger enemies. its my only complaint about the combat.

LoS1 was a fucking cakewalk compared to other games in the genre. What the hell?

Between sub-weapons, invincible rolls, a retarded parry, and combos that juggle/can hit from a 10000000000000000000ft range, the lack of hitstun isn’t even something that bothers you once you become accustomed to the mechanics a bit. Monsters not getting stuck in hitstun forces you to stay on your toes and actually make use of the games various mechanics. There was a system in place where you could heal/output higher damage but I forgot what it was. I dunno, if you’ve played Ninja Gaiden like you’ve said, this game should be no problem for you. NG and DMC1/3 are more difficult than LoS1.

I got all the trophies in that game no problem. Pretty decent game, I liked it. Its sequel wasn’t good, imo. 99% due to the change in level design which made the pacing/flow of LoS2 terrible. It’s all over the place and sadly, I couldn’t get into it.

you must be talking about the magic. light magic heals, dark magic increase damage.
that’s fine as long as you have it. problem is the only way to get it is to cause enough hits without taking damage so enemies drop the neutral magic orbs. which is fine, problem is if you got multiple enemies that don’t reel back with hits its tough.
I just got beat by the little vampire girl’s 3 massive …I don’t even know what to call them.
playthings? anywho.
they all do serious damage. they don’t get hit stunned and worse they all do quake attacks. and fighting them in a small room.
god no. what? cake walk.
plus you got do those finishing moves to kill them. or they’ll respawn.

and didn’t die nearly as much in NG/DMC3 as in this game. no way. I just remember dying a lot at the beginning of DMC3 and a lot around the middle of NG. not saying they were easy but I found them easier than this one. that’s just me.

Lack of hit stun is p annoying, but shoe horning subpar mechanics into a 2d play field is even worse.

Nah, I thought it was a Steam release. I only buy digital titles when they’re under $10, don’t wanna feel gipped from that EULA.

Heh, I might just pick up the Tres version when used copies are like $8.99

Well a bit late but there’s a new update for DR3 PC which fixes some bugs and adds a Ken costume. Is the game still slow? Yes but Ken. shrug
