Thats where to put them.
The triggers are quite easy to de solder.
Use a de soldering braid to clean the 3 solder points.
Now unhook the plastic tab from the top of the trigger and it should come off.
Make sure you de soldered properly or you could damage the traces.
Now you need to solder one wire to the center hole and one to the empty one.
Connect them to a button and your done.
Oh and use 10kohm resistors. Banding is brown black orange gold.
Any ideas on the trigger removal?
hey,
thanks a lot for the Picturesā¦if you could post one more picture of the pcbs front pleaseā¦maybe with wires⦠would be really awsome. Really appreciate your help.
Did you also do the same procedure with the hedset adapter? clean the 8 soldering points and then just reconnect with wires?
Unfortunately iām new into soldering, so i wanna take care of everything before i fuck up my pcb;)
That will work, but another option is to just buy a 2.5mm extension cable from Radio Shack and mount that instead.
That would be alot easier since the new headsets dont have the mute switch at the bottom⦠the built it into the cord
Do you want the full geeked out answer? You donāt need it. Just do it. Trust us. It works.

hey thxs for the reply lol, and for the help did what you told me and it worked so yay thxs again
Hey guys,
Iām new around here, and this is my first post. I have been building sticks and hacking pads for a few years now. I will post some sticks in the āI love my custom stickā thread later.
I picked up a wired Mad Catz (Gamestop brand) PS3 controller from Gamestop today. http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=64440 (this is the link, but the pad I got does not look exactly like that) Brought it home and tested it on my PS3 with the original Guilty Gear (Playstation 1 version). It worked although it plays like complete shit, buttons presses suck.
Anyway, I took it apart and metered it out. Looks like it only has two separate grounds One for the directionals/buttons and one for the start/select/home buttons. Iām going to hack the pad later this week to a DB15 so I can use it with my joystick.
The problem⦠My PS3 is broke and wonāt play PS2 games. So I donāt know if this controller works with PS2 games on PS3. Has anyone hacked one of these? Does anyone know if it works with PS2 games? I have heard that some third party controllers donāt work with BC.
Also the home button works but it wonāt turn on the PS3, I think this is typical.
Thatās fine, I just wanted somebody to answer. As for the technical junk, how about a compromise on an answer -
yes/no: the quantum doesnāt implement C/Z in the same way as the madcatz, and thatās why one will work while the other wonāt?
I have been trying to remove the analog pots for the thumb sticks.
I have tried 20kohm resistors and now 22kohm but they wont stay neutral.
Can anyone offer advice?
Welcome to SRK. I look forward to checking out your custom sticks.
Wired controllers canāt turn on the PS3 because Sony was evil and made the systemās USB ports completely power off when the system is off (unlike the 360 and PCs).
As far as I know, all third-party controllers work with PS2 games now. They fixed that with a firmware update a few months ago, yāsee. Still a good idea to take it to a friendās house or GameStop and try it out if nobody else answers you thoughā¦
Thatās cool that it only uses 2 grounds. If only somebody would put out a common ground controller (rather than just arcade sticks) so we could get some cheap PCBs with full compatibility and easy wiring!
Nice one toodles. Not sure how I missed that.
Once done should the readings be still or can they still move about a bit?
If you did everything in that post, theyād be dead still.
Well they arenāt
I will try some 4.7s in the morning.
thanks.
What value pot are you replacing?
Iām back from the deadā¦
On the Quantum with 2 separate grounds. Unless the pad youāre hacking to has 2 separate grounds, donāt waste your time. Weāre getting into diode country to patch this problem.
MadCatz for DC is the bomb, no doubt. Pre drilled and plated solder holes on the ones I hacked. Thatās easily an hour of work saved.
Pot? huh! I missed that, sorry. Is this a ps2 pad analog being replaced? Dual shock, no? I can measure easy peezy.
How do I find the grounds?
