*The "padhacking" thread*

one thing that sucks about that madcatz arcade is that as far as i can tell it does not work with XBCD. i got it to work on xp with the ms x360 drivers; but i get input lag like you wouldn’t beleive. i used it in a stick i just finished building and on hyper fighting for xbla there is NO LAG.

is anyone has any info on how to use it on with xbcd; please let me know.

So what are the best PCBs for first-timers? I want to use it primarily for PC and secondary for PS2. I was thinking just getting some madcatz ps2 controller.

Look at the PSone pad on the first post in this thread.

What do you mean? You’ve already forced the xbcd drivers to install with ini hacks right?

Hmm,

I have two DC Arcade Sticks and im wondering if it’s possible to switch the PCB in them to a PS1 dualshock one?

Opened one of them and atleast the wires are fairly easily switched, but does anybody know if theres any issues with voltages and suchs?

not at all.

i have xbcd installed for my regular xbox controllers. xbcd360 i have with ini hacks for the HORI EX2 fighting stick. however; the madcatz arcade was recognized by xp (no drivers) but i couldn’t get xbcd to recognize it nor could i find any ini hacks for xbcd to use this on.

i *was *able to get it to work with the 360 drivers from ms; but i get mad input lag.

you shouldn’t have any problem as long as all your doing is ripping out the old pcbs and leaving the buttons; thus rendering it unusable on dreamcast. then tossing in the dualshock pcbs. yeah - you shouldn’t have any problems.

You need to insert the usb identifiers into the xbcd ini file.

Look at the troubleshooting section of this page. It’s a bit outdated but the process is essentially the same.

nice.

thanks for the help farpenoodle

any way to get a 360 pcb to desync from it’s console?

i have a friend trying to dual mod his virtua stick high grade. he is using a official ms wireless pad that is common ground. we were able to hook everything up and get things to work but to get ps3 to work via the usb, the 360 wireless controller would need to be powered on making it sync and turning on the 360 console. if possible he would like a way of using this stick on ps3 without having his 360 console turn on automatically everytime. (start and ps button would turn on the 360 everytime)

any thoughts on this would be appreciated. thanks

Actually I’m slightly surprised that works at all. But the way you describe it the easiest thing would be to turn off the mains for the 360 when you want to use it on PS3. I’d really recommend you find a wired 360 CG pad.

yeah i told him that, he would have to unplug his 360 if he doesn’t want it to turn on. he’s set on making this high grade wireless.

he had already installed 2 female to female usb plugs and a small test button for sync. inside he wants to hide the vshg usb and a play and charge kit connected to the inside plug of the female to female adapters. he will be using a usb extension cord on the outside when he needs to charge his battery or play on ps3. it all looks pretty clean actually.

he basically thought you could do the dual pcb mod with a wireless and worked on modding his case with the extra stuff. when he got to wiring the 360 controller he didn’t realize that there is no green and white data wires on the 360 controller and thats pretty much where the problems begin since there is nothing to switch off due to it being wireless.

he just needs to find a way to desync his 360 pcb to the console while keeping it powered. i’m sure there is a way somewhere especially for people who use multiple consoles in one space and want to sync a controller to another console without the use of a play and charge.

I don’t think wireless controllers send data through the charge and play…

It certainly wouldn’t work that way for my PC, without the wireless receiver, of course.

I searched and couldn’t find anything on the classic controller for the Nintendo wii, has anyone cracked one of these open and taken pictures yet…it would be pretty badass to have a stick that you could just plug right into the wii mote. If I cant dig anything up here, ill bite the bullet and buy one and take pics and give you guys a full report :looney:

This link was in the Essential Joystick thread, you should probably check there. However, it doesn’t have any pictures of the classic controller’s innards. But the written explanation seems pretty good.

Yea I was looking for pics, shoulda made that more clear…
thanks for the link

i am trying to hack the original saturn pad (the larger one but nothing is working

it seems to be pressing A then B then a again and its stuck in an infinate loop during the action replay selection thing…

Hint: remove completely the two parts on the left and right by desoldering the metal pieces (don’t know the english name), then reuse the new holes to solder your cables. The PCB will take less space in your box. The ground is (judging from the pics) to be found on the last top pad of the right wing of this PCB.

thank you… however… i am trying to make a multi PCB stick, and the ps2 part works fine…now i need some help with this… because i am using the red wire as the +5v and attaching it to the PS2’s +5v…now the ps2 works. but when i use the saturn…it preesses A then B… so i am stuck ina loop… weird huh

Putting the controllers in parallel should work, according to the Hardware Book, the Saturn also uses +5V as +Vcc. Did you connect both PCBs’ grounds ?
