That’s one i used for my buddies mvc2 stick a few years ago. It’s common ground so it wasn’t that hard to do. I didn’t mess with the analong stick. As far as i know it’s still working for him.
I’ve used that one before, very easy to hack, but the pcb size is Huge. Definitely common ground.
How babby be formed? Posting twice wont help if you can’t be clear in your question.
The answer is “no”, not without quite a few extra steps, at which point you might as well pick up a cheap converter.
Hi there,
a customer asked me for an unusual setup today.
He wants a TE stick 360 with a MC Cthulhu PLUS a Megadrive/genesis Hack.
But I’m doubting Megadrive will be able to feed enough power to the 3 PCBs, do anyone knows if it’s possible ?
Other way would be to use a UPCB, but i don’t have one right now, maybe i will use this option is the tri mod is not possible.
Thank you guys !
I can’t guarantee how much a Geny can or cannot supply, but I’d bet it can supply plenty enough for a triple mod.
If I were in your spot though, I would point out that the Geny cord would have to be permanently attached, unlike the MC cords. It’d be easier/better/cleaner to make a PSX->Geny, SNES->Geny or Saturn->Geny converter with a sacrifice 6 button pad and a FGW Converter board.
But that’s just my opinion; the guy paying makes the calls.
P.S. MC Cthulhu >>>>>>>>>> UPCB, on every system except Geny and Neo-Geo. But the Geny support in the UPCB wasn’t that great.
thanks for the quick answer
But why do you have to keep the cord permanently attached ?
i’m always using a VGA plug (under the select button) for PS an GC cables, i could add the Geny cable on it.
Also, about the FGWidget, i don’t see your point, the doc tells about neo geo and saturn, which are (correct me if i’m wrong) only wiring inside, no chip for sending the signal, but Geny 6 buttons pad use a hex inside, (based on Slagcoin PCB diagram) so i didn’t though about this solution (it’s a great product, i’ll order some soon, i have some demands for Neo Geo)
PS: Indeed, that’s why i’m your customer
Let’s see…15 pin connector…2 pins for power, 6 pins for MC Cthulhu (and Xbox360, if you’re using an Imp)=8. Geny is 9 pin, but youre sharing power lines, so yes, an MC +Genesis would exactly fill up a 15 pin connector. 2 for power, 6 for misc MC Cthulhu lines, and 7 for the Geny data lines using detachable cables.
The FGW Converter converts data from a {Pick one: SNES, Saturn, or PSX} controller, and outputs each button and direction as a single line; pulling it low when the matching button on the controller is pressed, exactly like a physical pushbutton would do. So if you wanted to make a SNES->Geny converter, you would need a common ground Geny controller, and solder the a wire from the ‘Up’ pad on the FGW Converter to the ‘Up’ signal line of the Geny controller. When the FGW Converter will check the SNES controller data, and when it sees you’ve pressed ‘Up’ on the pad/stick, it will pull the line labelled ‘Up’ to Ground. The hacked Geny pad will see the ‘Up’ signal line is connected to ground, and tell the Genesis console that you pressed ‘Up’ on the game pad and make your character jump.
SNES Extension cord + FGW Converter + Common ground Geny pad = SNES->Genesis coverter.
Looking through all my stuff today I found one of my padhack attempts from months ago, a madcatz 360 fightpad, and had a quick question. The copper contact for where the USB’s 5v goes had fallen off when I first tried this months ago, are there any alternate points on the pcb that I can solder the 5v wire from the USB to?
about this part : never though about this, but technically, i would have to wire the 2 line E and F from the MC Cthulhuto the IMP as usual.
But i also have to set up the Cthulhu as number 1 PCB on the Imp board to let PS/GC/whatever else cable i want to plug be recognized without doing anything, is that right ?
thank you for your time Toodles
PS: that Godlikecontrol sticker is godlike for sure.
Yup.
Can I tell you where? Nope. Post up some legible pics and I bet we could point a few out though.
Even with the addition of the Geny padded added to it, the recommended way of wiring an Imp into a 360 TE with MC Cthulhu remains the same. MC Cthulhu D and E columns (NOT E and F!!! D and E are the USB lines) goes to the 2D+/2D- spot on the Imp, 360 D+/D- go to 1D+/1D-, outgoing D+/D- go to the column D and E points on your VGA connector and the D+ and D- points on the outgoing USB cable, and the point labelled Guide on the on the Imp gets connected to the RSTICK line on the main board. If you do this, and I have gravely mistaken something else you’re doing with the stick:
- Genesis mode works whenever the Geny cord in plugged in, regardless of slider setting.
- Move the slide switch to RS before plugging in, and the stick will be in Cthulhu mode. This means PS3/PC mode via the USB cord, and regular MC Cthulhu systems using the special VGA ended console cables.
- If the slider switch is in DP or LS when plugged in, stick will be in 360 mode when plugged in with the regular USB cable, or VGA->USB cable if you decide to make one.
I’m going to be padhacking an xbox 360 fightpad into a ps3 TE stick, I want to pickup an IMP board, now how exactly is the wiring done for that situation? I see alot of wiring for ps3 pad to xbox te or cthulu board to xbox te but nothin really for an xbox pad to imp info…I just need what wires go where onto the imp from where basically…I understand I’ll be using the switch thats already on the ps3 TE to toggle between xbox and ps3 pcb’s…
It is same as what you been seeing.
Nothing is different.
Ground from one of the PCB will go to Imp.
VCC from one of the PCB will go to Imp.
Data+ and Data- of one PCB will go to 2 D+ and 2 D- for your Secondary.
Data+ and Data- of one PCB will go to 1 D+ and 1 D- for your Primary.
Choose something that you want to hold while plugging in Console to switch.
(Sounds like you want to use RS to do the switching; no need hold.)
Hook that to Guide on the Imp.
I’m just going to link you to Threads you already see.
Because they all the same.

JDM, your efficient and always helpful as usual. Thank you. Are you a moderator? Also so I can use the ground and VCC from the xbox fightpad and put it to the chimp correct? Also is there anyone that knows where the solder point is for the RS or LS on the TE stick switch , (where on the pcb)? …so I can solder the IMP guide to it…
I am not Moderator.
Laugh.
Yes, you can use.
Here.

Having to be a moderator would only slow JDM down.
He works too hard for that.
Reading that made me laugh.
Ow damn,
I’m sorry Toodles, while reading your post, i realized my question was stupid, since i’m doing this mod on a TE, using the TE usb cable soldered to the Imp, i never make a VGA usb cable since it’s quicker to use the TE’s one >_<
But your idea of using the RS/LS/DP switch is brilliant, for now i’ve been using Home/guide, but i’ll try with the switch, thank you !
I’m hacking a Madcatz Dreampad and after disassembly i realized i don’t have enough clearance in the case i’m building (that’s what you get when you build a case without having access to the pcb). The two VMU slots make the entire thing very tall, and i only need one…so…
Can i remove the bottom VMU slot without breaking the board and with the top slot still in working order? If yes then…how?
Thanks.
nvm for now
Can you? Sure. How? That’s up to you.
