Alright, will give him a try soon. Thanks.
Just been doing trials with Lili, currently on 18 without skipping any…which is a record for me. Although saying that, trials are different from actual fights I guess.

Does anyone know if the CH rules from SFIV apply to SFxT?
Like +3 on medium/heavy and +1 on lights?
hello sfxt ppl I plan on getting the game nxt week (despite all of the negative feedback that this game got) and I was just wondering on the viability of ibuki and poison. Based on what I have seen from being a stream monster, Ibuki seems to be a completely different character. Also I really want to know (no trolling) if this game is worth picking up. And when I say that I mean is this game’s engine worth learning from someone with a casual sf4 background
Ibuki is a great character. Poison is kind of medicore, imo, and I’m not familiar enough with Ibuki to know how good of a team they would make.
I’d recommend the game, but it’s about the definition of love it or hate it. If you Look around this forum for info about it, namely about synergy and “oki”, look up the videos by “webweaver13s”, and try not to look through too much of a SF4 lens I think you’ll enjoy it well enough.
thx for your input. The trouble that I have with looking at some forums is that their is always that troll or hater that expresses general hatred for the game without explaining why. Nevertheless I will make an ibuki team and a poison team even if she is low tier cuz I was one of the main advocates for her to be in this game
I’m pretty sure it’s just +2 always, with special exceptions of course.
Come to think of it, there’s going to be a patch on the 31st that will make changes to all the characters. Poison’s probably going to get at least a couple of buffs. Good luck with her, and have fun with Ibuki.
thx for the input. It’s gonna be interesting and very salty being a low tier hero
Ok, so any move gets +2 additional advantage when CH, is that what was just said?
Poison, like every underused character in the game, is better than people give her credit for. Is she great? No, but still. A bit of starting advice: She seems like a zoner but she is actually more of a rushdown character with the tools to zone those with weaker games. Naturally she has strong pokes to boost from, her LMT is safe on block and can be linked with c.lk, surprisingly strong normal throws, and an especially dangerous corner game with her range and aairs and most importantly HP fireball traps in the corner.
Ibuki I do not know much about, but she is quite strong. Rolls means she loses her vortex (but learn about rolling, it is not as free as people think), but she has strong damage for her speed and is one of the best wall carriers in the game. Actually, I wonder if Poison/Ibuki would be a strong team: poison builds meter Ibuki uses, both pressure, ibuki compliments with strongish damage, and her wall carry lets Poison execute her corner game. Gotta watch out for low health though.

a few questions:
1: does anyone know what the properties of her air kunai is ( I heard that it knocks down now)
2:she still has mixups with the command dash
3: hmm poison/ibuki team sounds good
1: yes, they do regular knockdowns.
3: well not the greatest team, and id like opinions from people who use Ibuki, but I do not think they are devoid of synergy so I definitely recommend starting with them as you like them and perhaps you can find the synergy yourself.

It’s a good thing you haven’t played anything Tekken related (No preconceptions). So I believe you shouldn’t have much trouble picking up the one you like the most.
Also unless you have the specific need to learn a good number of characters from the Tekken side, I’d suggest using one main and one sub starting out.
I wanna quote the post the above quoted, but cannot find it, anyway;
Tekken characters indeed play differently than those on the sf side, and from most sf characters in general as far as I know. They are predominantly made to be close-up strikers that can use their multitude of unique strings and evasive moves to deal with opponents. It is hard to give a catch-all description, however, as many are very unique. In short, they are meant to resemble their movelists in their own games as much as possible: they have those special strings (often branching), stances that change moves, special moves that can be branched, etc. Even so, they are not as daunting as people think.
You can see which strings are useful through what they can accomplish. Predominantly the best strings are those that mix in medium and low moves together, forcing opponents to block different ways, branch so that they can either be mid or low (kazuya, julia), or be unpunishable. Some, like Bob’s fast break, do seem to be pretty useless.
Do not judge from what is in trial, go into training mode and try them out for yourself and learn their frame data, how good you are at hitting the first part of it, etc. I’ve never seen a strong player utilize all the tekken strings they possess, you just need to find the ones that work best for you.
If you give an example of which characters I would be happy to help. I know a little about everyone in the tekken cast, but am most knowledgeable on Bob, Nina, Paul, Hwaorang, and King.

I just picked up SFxT and I came from a Tekken background so i don’t know what im doing. I can pull off all those link and chain combos in practice mode but i cant when im playing against the CPU or another player. Is this normal for beginners? I also have a lot of trouble with spacing. When someone zones me out, i dont know how to get back in.
just keep playing against CPU, you’ll get it eventually.
Not really a gameplay question, but is it possible to get 4 characters on screen in the briefing room?
Me and my buddy would love to train on our own dummies in one room but we don´t have a clue whether this is possible. We´d like to have some sort of scramble-training…
By activating cross assault on either side you can only get the CPU to take control over your partner, but we just want dummies. Is there any way to get them to hold still?
It might be. See if you can join the same side, then set the opponent to record, do a cross assault, and set them back to dummy. I know you can do infinite cross assault for you, i wonder if it works for the opponent. If not there might be a scramble mode specific room?

Like he said, it is all practice. The part of your brain for doing combos on a dummy is different than the part that dials it in during a match and sets it up in the first place, so you need to practice both.
As for zoning and getting in, it can be a real challenge for any beginner and the way on how to do it is different for every character. If you tell me the characters you have been using I can help out further.
And then there is this: http://sonichurricane.com/?page_id=1702
This is the footsie manual, and it is pretty much required reading if you want to play 2D games well, a great deal of universal knowledge for getting in, baiting, etc.
Glad to see someone else from a tekken background pick this up. Whatever you do, keep your mind trained in a tekken mindset when learning this, because while obviously the 2D plane makes it more like Street Fighter, there are a great deal of things borrowed from Tekken that blow up people thinking it is SS4 expansion edition. Things like mixups, strings, wall carry, corner game, life management, lack of comeback mechanic, and additional options on wakeup and therefore Oki (rolls are not free never be suckered by the whiners) are incredibly crucial.
But footsies are pretty much the most important thing in this game, why else would people ling ortiz and wong consistently place high here without knowing how to play the darn game?

Hey, guys, I’m not new to fighters, but I’m new to SFxT, and dear lord am I shit at it. I mean /really/ shit. I was curious if anyone would be willing to help me out with the basics. I play on 360, so if anyone has a chance, could you help? Thanks.
Question: is Dudley’s Thunderbolt pretty much useless in this compared to SSFIV? I feel like they nerfed the hitbox beyond belief.
Do not have 360 so cannot help there, but if you have any questions outside the DLC I am your man. Id ask about Thunderbolt in the Dudley thread.
