Its the nature of business, you find something that makes money, you bleed it to the point where it doesn’t financially make sense too. Nintendo is simply a generation behind and has been that way since N64. And lets compare them to the competition. M$ doesn’t make games inhouse. They’ve bought studios to do it, but they are a computer company with hardware experience. So their hardware should be better, as should their OS…its what they specialize in. Sony is no diff - they’ve specialized on being on the bleeding edge of consumer electronics. Its why Nintendo went to the them for the SNESCD. Nintendo is a video game company that has to extend beyond software, so I understand them being behind and slow to revolutionize things like hardware.

Only thing I hold against Nintendo is no blood in Mortal Kombat 1 and CPU Assistance.

Ah okay that sounds better than what I thought it would be like. Was afraid of spoilers so I didn’t dig deeper.

Sounds like Monster Hunter to me lol. Just gotta time stuff and pick and choose your times to attack. It’s very uh…methodical? believe that’s the word I want to use…it’s very methodical in that way. The game does have a light lock on system that has been introduced to this franchise for the first time so keeping an eye on monsters will be easier to do. But really you should just go with the weapons that you best feel suit your style. If you’re gonna get the game then definitely start out with Sword and shield until you get the hang of how the other weapons work.

Me and my wife just finished our God of War session for the night and I’m enjoying it so far save for a few things here and there…but that’s not a conversation for this thread.

As for ZombiU…let me know when you get to the nursery :). I also understand your frustrations on the whole less supplies thing but you don’t have to go get your stuff back immediately…you can run off and go stock up on some items first but of course there’s always that chance that you could get grabbed. I ended up dying 3 times in a row fucking around with the rocker screamer Zombie and didn’t realize that he was calling buddies out of the woodwork until it was too late. Then there was the time I got ambushed before making my way into one of the buildings…that was was a ton of fun. Abuse the bat and the shove as much as possible when there’s 1 or 2 zombies but the moment you start having to deal with either 3 or more or one of the zombies is wearing a helmet then you gotta start making decisions on using ammo. Most of the fear in this game will come from how long your character can last since it’s not just about having to get your stuff back, the longer that character has been alive and firing shots the better accuracy and proficiency with his/her weapons it will have…and you’ll lose that with one bite.

The 1st part where you get rushed by Zombies in the intro…I’m not entirely certain if you’re able to survive that especially if you’re just getting into the game. The supermarket thing I believe you should have been able too.

Scribblenauts seemed like good fun especially after that Giant Bomb look into the game before it came out. Happy to hear you and your fam are enjoying that.

If we want to be technical then Nintendo has only been a ‘generation behind’ with Wii in graphical power. Gamecube was actually the second powerful console out of the Dreamcast,Xbox, GC, PS2 era.

Supposedly one of those ‘unnannounced’ titles that Square Enix is showing off at Pax East is a Wii U title

Speculation is on it being that rumored updated port of Deus Ex.

@Sonichuman

actually the ps2 is more powerful than the gamecube, gc was super easy to develop on so it made ps2 look crummy in comparison.

wii u will more than likely be THE side console due to nintendo wanting to work with developers.

though i have a feeling this gen will force people to want all three

I actually think the opposite…this gen will be the single console era.

The PS4 and ‘new XBox’ - won’t be different enough to warrant having both. Me personally I got a PS3 for a blu-ray player, it had a major feature the 360 didn’t…while all my friends were on the 360. With the next consoles, the feature sets will be in strength alone - and most titles will be cross platform again. Sure there will be people with both, but not as many as now. And the WiiU? The more I play on it, it feels less ‘Next Gen’ and more ‘current gen’…and that’s not a shot, the PS3 still has a TON of life left in it (I went back and fourth in the PS3 thread basically saying that the PS4 is an entire year early, Sony is pushing it out because the company as a whole is doing poorly, but the video game div is doing best) and while I think hardware wise we are up against the 360s wall, M$'s planned timing is about spot on - looking at 2014. The WiiU is the tweener of the generations, so I can see people having it plus another - if Nintendo can get more gmaes out ;p

I was pretty sure the GC was the second powerful console of that generation…the thing that was holding the console back the most was the size of the discs that it used. RE4 is used to illustrate that point. Re4 has better textures and looks overall better on the GC vs. PS2’s textures being a bit more blurry but having the space to fit the entire thing on one disc and have space to put Ada’s extra story on it. It’s pretty much the reason why Wii’s version is more based off of GC. If I had more time I’d fine those comparison shots for you but I’m probably already a few minutes late for work. If nobody else finds them them by the time I get back later tonight then I’ll try to hunt them down.

I wonder if theirs a possibility of games going up to $70 dollars next gen? If that were to happen I will definitely be a late adopter of the other consoles and could see developers making more Wii U games.

Nah, game prices will remain where they are. No one is stupid enough to raise them above $60, and the new consoles are supposedly going to be “developer friendly” so the tech requirements to produce games won’t warrant an increase in price either.

No one’s going to develop for WiiU unless it starts moving units, which is ironic, because the main reason its not moving units(beyond blind Nintendo hate/Sega-style lack of advertising) is the lack of games…

It’s the PS Vita again hehe. But Nintendo had the same issue at first wit hthe 3DS…now its cleaning up shop…

This site actually has a nice size list of the differences between Re4 on GC vs. PS2

I knew textures and geometry had taken a hit but I wasn’t aware of the lighting and water effects.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Introduction Cinematic

Lego City Undercover - March Trailer

Reviews for Lego City seem to have been pretty solid so far (cept for Edge…) and from what I understand and been reading on Gaf the only main issue is load times and complaints of no co-op.

Edit:

I think Raven may have pushed me to finally buy this game now…

February numbers for Wii U haven’t been good…which is pretty much to be expected

2 months of no reasons (games) to purchase a console so let’s see how it goes from here on out.

There’s a game called Shovel Knight that’s coming that may be migrating to a Nintendo console in the future

This studio that’s making this game is made up of ex-Wayforward Devs.

Shovel Knight - Debut Trailer

It’s going through kickstarter right now for PC.

Project Cars Wii U Runs at 720P 30fps on Wii U

I had forgotten that this game was even coming to this system. Screenshots for the game look pretty nice so people who want a simulated racing experience may want to keep an eye on this game when it comes out later this year.

Zen Pinball 2 will be out March 21st

Pokemon Rumble Wii U goes Skylanders

loads of potential to print money if they only made the game better.

Monster Hunter, Lego City and NFS Most Wanted U get released tomorrow. There may be some stores doing Gears midnight releases so if they are you should be able to pick up at least Monster Hunter and NFS. Of course you’d be in that awkward position where you may be the only one there purchasing something that isn’t a dudebro shooter.

Cust 1: Gears is gonna be amazing man! What’s your gamertag so we headshot people together!
Cust 2: I’m actually getting Monster Hunter.
everyone stops what they’re doing and turns towards you
Cust 1: What’s that? does it have a shotgun? Does it have a headshot?
Cust 2: No not really…you actual-
Cust 1: cuts him off That’s wonderful! You enjoy that.
everyone goes back to what they’re doing with whispers of ‘weirdo’ echoing throughout the building

The wait is almost over…yeeeeesssssss…

Just a heads up, Target is doing a B2G1 sale on video games. If you have a few games you’re interested in it’d be a good time to grab some. I bought Tomb Raider at launch, but I’ll probably pick it up along with MH and Gears and return the one I picked up before, I’ll wind up getting the other two for $30 each.

Yuuup…Deus Ex is all but 100% confirmed at this point

Some info got dropped on the Wii U version of RE: Revelations to go with Rachel being revealed as being playable and 2 new enemies getting added
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=526269

It will have off-TV and Wii U pro support. Miiverse will also be supported and you can post messages on the Game Over screen or have a ‘Creatures Voice’ function where enemies thoughts can be personalized in Raid Mode. They have pictures of what this looks like.

Actual viable complaint…They didn’t include Wii Remote + nunchuck support. Actually surprising considering how much RE4 on Wii was praised. Good thing you can do patches now…right Capcom?

I had some cash to spare a few weeks back, so I decided to buy this thing. Until this year’s E3, I’m convinced this thing is chockfull of bitchassness. Nintendo Land is fun for 5 minutes, Mario WiiU is the same lameshit game from the DS just with less responsive controls (can’t use pro controller? get out of my face woman) and I’m not a big fan of the Ninja Gaiden update. Had fun with Sonic Racing Transformed though. For a while at least.

And the Eshop. I know it’s early in the console’s life, but Jesus Allah this shit is weaksauce. When I see a Mario Kart or a Smash trailer my hope will return, probably.

I’ve been playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate all day save for those couple of hours of daylight that I was up where I wasn’t. The improvements are so nice and the game is definitely jaggy but everything looks so clear and crisp. I managed to get in league with some good hunters last night and we were going ham on them. Shit is still fun as hell. The Turtle Beach I got a while back works quite well for this too. I’m also surprised at how good the mic on the Wii U pad is. I’ve been hearing people talk through it by just using headphones and I can actually hear most people pretty well…along with sometimes hearing other people in the room. Will definitely be trying to grind more tonight when I get off.

Edit: Also seems that there’s more people than I thought that bought a Wii U and this game…If I were Nintendo I’d probably make a bundle ASAP.

Told myself I was only going to play Monster Hunter for a couple of hours yesterday and ended up playing offline all day.

Sonichuman, you anticipating a crazy limited print for Pandora’s Tower, similar to that of Xenoblade’s?

Might be picking up a WiiU this Friday and was wondering how Darksiders 2 fairs on the system? I’ll also finally be able to carry on with Xenoblade! squee
