It’s hard for me to get excited over a Nintendo acquisition of Sega. It sounds like it should be a good thing, but I can’t remember the last time that a merger/buyout/acquisition went well in the VG industry.
Nintendo won’t buy Sega, they could acquire the IPs but buying Sega from Sega Sammy Holdings? That’s gonna cost a bit of coin. It’d be wiser to spend that money on start-up studios or fund third party developer projects and see if they can come up with a new IP. What’s Nintendo’s last big IP? Pikmin? Do Nintendogs or the Mii even count?

This. But that could be exactly why they need to buy them. I remember the good ol’ Rare/Nintendo era with the N64. Banjo series, KI, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conker, DK, etc. So many different things than the every-other-year Zelda, Mario Kart/Party, etc

Not sure about the Miis but Nintendogs and Pikmin both count and yeah, I personally don’t think Nintendo would buy Sega whole for that same reason. The current regime at Nintendo while smart in some ways, is less adventurous and some what frugal in anything that doesn’t match their vision. Nintendo currently barely uses some of their own IPs to their full effect, I worry that outside of Sonic the only things you would see from Sega’s IPs would be Virtual Console releases and depending on how popular it is (I haven’t followed it that much) Phantasy Star Online which would give Nintendo their own MMORPG series out the gate.
Then again, short of Nintendo or some other 3rd party buying Sega, that will probably be the end of the era as a kid I never thought I’d see with Sega games on Nintendo systems.
I’ve been re-reading Game Over, and I want the old Nintendo to come back. It wouldn’t be the same without the magnificent bastard though.
Nintendo buying Sega would be crazy and probably won’t happen. But most people didn’t think Sega was going to bow out of the hardware race either.
You forgot Mario Galaxy, which is awesome. But yeah, the “New” series of games isn’t too hot overall. Mario U has shades of the older games, but needs more.

Every day I get the idea of going into bestbuy and buying a wii u with mario u. My credit card is all freed up and I have like 3 years no interest *but you have to buy like 1,000$ worth of stuff for that to apply x_x).
But then I think about whats coming around the corner with the new xbox and something tells me to wait. I got burned on the wii and didnt really play it all that much outside of smash bros and twilight princess.
Plus mario is the only game that grabs my attention right now. im sure zombi u looks cool but its a shooter and im kinda tired of FPS games right now, the market is filled with them.
Me and Rioting Soul took the multiplayer for ZombiU for a spin and that shit is fun as hell. Something like this would have been great for online but I’m going to guess Ubisoft did what they could since in the middle of making the game they shifted direction.
NintendoLand with me, Rioting Soul and my wife was fun as hell too. Played Mario Chase, Luigi’s Ghost Mansion and Animal Crossing Sweet Day. Being on the pad for Sweet Day was almost like patting your head and rubbing your tummy for controlling 2 people at the same time with the analog sticks but once I got the hang of it, I was doing quite well. Watching the animals you’re trying to catch panic and just drop all the candies they have to get away is funny…‘GET YO FATASS BACK HERE!’. Ghost Mansion with 3 players I feel is tough on the ghost but the fact that you can just be near someone and fuck with them until they drain their batteries on their flashlight makes this game quite entertaining. Mario Chase is just a simple fun game of tag. I almost feel like I need a stiff arm the way you try to fake people out to anticipate a dive.
I HAVE to play these games with a full party of people. I’m definitely going to pack up my Wii U and take it home during Christmas.
Currently Dled and played Nano Assault Neo for about an hour or so. Game looks very well done and polished…I’d even go so far as to say it’s probably too pretty for it’s own good. That’s actually my only issue with the game…When I’m blasting stuff the enemies weapons get mixed in with the my shots and the well detailed environments that it makes it kind of hard to spot some times. Then there’s the lens flare from the sun/star that can obscure your vision. Other than that this game is a pretty great shmup. I easily recommend it for 9.99.
I’m also in the process of Dling Trine 2 and at some point I want to dl Mighty Switch Force. I know Might Switch force would look clean but it exceeded how clean I thought the visuals would look when I watched the trailer from the eShop.
Edit: lol @ people in the cabela’s miiverse community. Apparently this game has leopards walking around in midair.
Im keeping my Wii so that I can still play gamecube games, but what about my wii stuff?
Should I transfer it all over or just keep all gamecube/wii related stuff dedicated to my wii system?
Does playing wii games on the wiiu enhance it in any way? 1080p up-scaling?
Was about to look into Trine 2 myself will probably download the trial on xbl then buy it for the Wii U if I like it haha. Nintendo needs trials for the eshop.
Wii games get upscaled…I don’t know about 1080P up scaling though.
