@JGreen I know what you mean. Its random but a pattern. For example if im in first the situation is either im ahead the whole match or 2nd place is nearby. But if I look behind me hes a bit far. Then say a shell hits me, in the 3 seconds for me to recover im in like 7th place snd im like wtf where did all tbese fools come from.
But I agree jf I make a comeback, it usually because I got a room clearing item like the star or plant and it mostly is a pass everyone up move as opposed to, move slowly. Up. I know it kinda seems like where ever you are when the first lap is done js where you will stay it seems.
But yeah being in a low place it seems impossible to make it back to top 5, unless you do a passing of a group of people at once. I thought this only occurred to me. But people on gamefaqs have discussed similar things as well
It’s because the middle of the pack are idiots who are too busy slinging shells at each other instead of working together to get the leaders of the race.

That’s the way it should be expected to be. Everyone is looking out for numero uno because and working together is never going to work because you can’t share 1st place. SOMEONE has to get dicked.
Doing a come from behind win into first place definitely feels harder but its not impossible. When you’re in the abyss you have to decide whether you’re going to try to use that item to move forward or use it to protect the spot you have currently. The % on that answer is really going to depend on how deep you are in it IMO. From my experience I’m going to say probably between 7th-12th place you need to be be making the play to move forward 80% of the time. Once you start reaching 3rd-6th place you need to start being more selective of your item plays to move forward and start playing a bit more defensively 60-65%. Around that area you have a higher chance of getting a shell up the ass if you don’t have something to protect yourself. I’ve had it happen far too often that I’ve had an item behind me and the moment I try to make a play for place ahead of me, I end up getting pegged by a shell. I’ll try to see if I can’t post up some runs next time I’m on to see if maybe the way how I play can give any ideas or inspirations.
Something else I’ve noticed is that a majority of people online don’t hug the corners for some reason when they powerslide.
I don’t know how much you hate Gamestop but last I worked there were some Mario Kart 8 bundles available for order through the Web In Store program. You don’t have to pay for shipping and it gets shipped directly to your house. I don’t know if you’ve opened the Skylanders bundle yet or not but that option is available to you. If you don’t pay for shipping it takes about a week and a half to get to you if not earlier.

The less I deal with Gamestop, the better. Besides I calculated what I needed and the skylanders bundle would be cheaper than the Mario kart one even after paying for extra HD space and the copy of the game.

80% of my consoles are packed up. I use my PS3 as my main system, my 360 for starting Dead Rising finally and recording niche Marvel stuff. My future Wii U will be in the center stiff arming dafuq outta these two rivals and providing me with my Kart fix. In time, the dream is to have something resembling this but with the fat trimmed
