I thought the London Ceremony was head and shoulders above Beijing.
Beijing was little more than China trying to reinforce the fact it is a global superpower. You had hordes of athletes co-ordinated with military precision that when observed culminated in nothing more than a giant fist. China just used the ceremony to show the world that they are strong. It was entirely political. Masses of fireworks and legions of athletes in tandem.
London, if anything was a celebration. A celebration I fear many around the world couldn’t even grasp. We celebrated the industrial revolution that changed the entire world, we celebrated the NHS infront of a government so eager to destroy it, we celebrated so many amazing charities and hospices such as GOSH. We celebrated the World wide web and it’s British roots, we celebrated technology and how it has changed the lives of not just people in Britain, but those around the world. We celebrated music and how it’s changed. I can imagine hardly any of you knowing what Grime music was, a form of music that originated not even 20 minutes from the stadium. We celebrated sporting legends such as Muhammed Ali and we also celebrated workers from every race and country for their charitable works, We celebrated everything British such as the Queen, Shakespeare, James Bond, Mr Bean, The Beatles, David Beckham, Our Athletes our Music.
It was a Celebration of Britain…Hell, it was just a celebration of everything good in the world. And something nobody over here intends to forget it anytime soon.
It’s just a shame the rest of the world seems to love lots of fireworks (We had those, too!) Explosions and mass dancing. And nothing else.

Don’t Americans have BBC or something? It’s stupid shit you need Cable to watch the Olympics. We’ve got 43 Channels 100% Dedicated to Olympic Events from the BBC, Surely one is cross continental?
NBC Universal has the exclusive rights to air the Olympics in the US. BBC America (what we get) is not one of their channels.
