I require any type of Dazzle for any gaming videos.
I bought a newer version of my EasyCap USB Capture that was pretty cheap.
Im celebrating my first final passing in school with a run (maybe 2 if I have time) so stay tuned!

100% completion. Video 36 is a spoof of the dumpling showdown between Shifu and Po in Kung Fu Panda, this time featuring Sonic and Chip. Very :wtf:.
I was impressed, too. No one talks about the PS2 version, and it’s near impossible to find screen shots of it…so I just bought it blind. They crammed a lot into one little PS2 disc.
hey check out the new screen shots for Black Knight:

looks pretty good
I noticed they added a bit more texture to Sonic so he doesn’t look as ‘shiny’ as he did in secret rings.
well…this game looks like it has more texture overall in the environments.
something else I’m noticing…has anyone seen ANY rings at all?
aaand looks like you gotta fight knux…again…Who tricked him this time? lol
Sonic the werehog :(.
In the storybook Sonics, the other characters (besides Sonic) are just characters from the mythos and not actually the character they look like. Remember in Secret Rings? Tails was actually Ali Baba, Knux was Sinbad, and Robotnik was King Shahryar.
they said they were going to do that this time as well…but Knux and Shadow are going to be playable as well supposedly.
Tails had better be too then.
Im finished capturing and encoding. Too bad youtube is going under maintenance at this time. What I can do, is give you the times of the 4 stages (!!) I ran through today. Im only doing day stages, dont feel like doing the many many werehog stages…again.
Apatos Day
Rank/Time: S – 3:42.774 (new record)
Spagonia Day
Rank/Time: S (new record) – 2:40.255 (new record)
Chun-nan Day
Rank/Time: S (new record) – 2:40.722 (new record)
Adabat Day
Rank/Time: A – 2:16.295 (new record; only 1.295 off of S rank)
Goddamn, youtube hurry the fuck up.
Dang I need to step up. Your S runs are faster than mine.
Dont worry Remy. Those are the ones Im going to upload tonight (whenever youtube gets done being gay)
got the game.
Dimps should do the next big name sonic. Fuck it. Sonic Team can’t make Sonic games right at all. They don’t feel right. Granted this is better than Sonic Next-Gen but that were-hog stuff is a terrible GoW knock off. It’s not nearly as smooth as it should be and with a bizillion enemies on screen a auto-lock-on doesn’t make shit easier. Plus you don’t always have camera control. Like why would you position the camera above someone when they are on a balancing beam? Who playtested this shit? Whatever. I’m going to keep playing and keep dreaming of Sonic Rush 3.
I thought that the camera was much improved over previous 3D Sonics. It always seemed to be pointed at what I needed to see ATM at least (although it did still get stuck on terrain two or three times). What specific place are you talking about with balance beams? Cuz I always felt that I could tell where I needed to be walking Sonic to stay alive.
Im actually getting pretty hype over S&TBK. the sword thing is meh but it looks pretty cool, plus running around Hyrul-I mean the random nameless fields sounds cool. plus you get to visit the Gorons.
IMO 3D generation of gaming killed sonic. Sonic in 3D was always one of those things that sounded like it’d be fucking epic on paper. But, once they actually did it, the series bombed and it turned out less than lack luster (I.E. Live Action Transformers movie)
So what does the sonic team do? Crank out shitty game after shitty game with more shitty mechanics and gimmicks to them and hope people will like them. Need an example? Sonic Unleased. Come on man a werewolf? Werechog? whatever the fuck he is? Give me a fucking break.
they just need to do what they did with megaman. Make a new sonic game, but throw it back to the S3+S&K graphics/Game play (with buffed AI and difficulty obviously) so people will stfu about all the sonic games being trash. I mean, granted, they are. But atleast people would be happy, even if it’s for a brief period.
Seriously, just give me a new chemical plant zone and let me collect rings on a half pipe someone laced with motion bombs, seriously.
Also, this is not a bash on any of the games really. More or less a personal opinion on the current sonic franchise. I’m happy sonic has lasted as long as he has. But the games just aren’t as iconic as they use to be.
What Stuart said.
Sonic Unleashed in either mode isn’t as polished as say Rush or God of War. Sonic still moves around too fast when you aren’t running forward. There’s no build up of momentum, just some instant gratification speed bull shit. At least this is probably the best that the homing attack has ever been. But taking out the spin dash, what a no-no.
You could call me a scrub and say that I’m not reacting fast enough to what happens on the screen but it all happens too fast sometimes. It’s clear that Sonic Team is still using the same general guidelines for how Sonic should move in 3D that they established in Sonic Adventure almost 10 years ago. They really need to tone down the speed. If we want to move fast after stopping that’s what the spin dash is for, that’s what it’s always been for so why create a new problem?
Oh, Werehog. Know why God Of War is so great? Well a bunch of things really but one in particular are fixed cameras that worked 98% of the time. Werehog sections need that so we can always have a bead on were our foes are. Another thing is that God Of War never has a billion bullshit enemies on screen. How annoying is that first boss fight where I have to get right on the bigger guys to grab them? Plus that top down perspective is weird. That’s where a lock-on button comes in handy.
I’m going to keep playing this game. See how I feel when I get better at it but so far it’s mediocre right now.
PS: Why are people so calm when the planet is torn in two? It’s a little too silly.
I don’t want Sonic to go back to the basics. The basics have been there, done that. I want Sonic to keep moving forward, regardless if it’s 2D or 3D. The Advance games were good because they built on everything I loved about S3&K and as they went on, each other. Even if what they tried was a failure (Advance 2), at least they kept trying to mix things up.
I’m happy if I have fun with a Sonic game. That’s what counts, to me. And no Sonic game I’ve played short of Rush and Secret Rings (Yes, I’m implying 2006 was fun) has disappointed.
So I really do not see this apparent downfall everyone else does.
To FC and Stuart mainly (Carbunkle got in before me):
Werehog wasn’t the best idea, I’ll give you that. You are especially correct on how hard it is to grab what you want to grab. It does look (and even at times play) like an attempt to leech on GoW’s popularity. But it is still pretty fun really, and some of your complaints seem unfounded IMO. Maybe the Wii version just did cameras better, but I seriously always felt like I could see what I needed to see in those levels though. I don’t see your complaint in that regard. Also, having actually played the game now, I think that they introduced the werehog not just to rip off GoW/DMC, but also because it gave them levels to do some more traditional-style platforming. You move too fast in the running stages to do things like the climbing and small platform jumping. Meanwhile, that’s actually a big part of the werehog stages.
Running stages are awesome though. They are designed to be all about dodging obstacles at high speed. Which is what the Sonic series in general is supposed to be about. I do agree with you that he starts moving fast a bit too quickly from a complete standstill. But that’s a pretty minor complaint considering the way the stages are designed takes that into consideration. That’s why they are like tunnels rather than open fields. Besides, you aren’t supposed to be stopping, and generally there isn’t much reason to. It’s all about running fast and dodging shit, and the daytime levels do that very well.
I also give you your point on the story. The story is effing retarded. But I don’t play Sonic games for the story. Actually, I don’t play any games for the story. I want good gameplay, and for the most part I got it this time.
There are definitely things that could be improved upon. Get the werehog out, and replace him with a series-regular brawler type character like Knuckles (I swear to god though, if Knux is playable then Tails had better be too). Then modify the combat somewhat so that it doesn’t so blatantly steal ideas from other games of that type, and also keep the platforming elements from this game.
I think if you compare this one to previous 3D games in the series, they are making steps to correct the issues that people have complained about since day 1. The camera seems significantly more stable and better shows what you need to see. The homing attack doesn’t malfunction. They eliminated the constant bombardment of random-ass cast members (which I didn’t really mind, but I know many fans did). Daytime stages took ideas that worked and received praise in the past (Rush, Secret Rings only less on-rails, Sonic’s stages in Adventure titles) and combined them together, pretty seamlessly too. The transitions are done in flat, enemy-free areas and the camera shows you what is going on so there isn’t any confusion or accidental death caused by it. All in all, this was a really fun and stable game that shows Sonic Team is at least trying to address the problems the past games have had.
I’m sorry, but I do have to call this one though.
One of the biggest problems all of the previous 3D Sonics have suffered from is glitchiness. They feel like they were released while still in a beta or even alpha build. Homing Attack would malfunction and cause you to spin all over the place before hitting the enemy, or even zip right past the nearby enemy and send you to your death. Falling through random walls and floors. Enemies not taking damage when they should. Camera not tracking the action properly or giving you a good view of the terrain sometimes. etc etc etc
Another common complaint, that I’m honestly kinda on the fence about myself, is the constant inclusion of random additional characters. And not just series mainstays either, but making up new characters as well. Sometimes when an existing character could’ve filled the same role. The big problem here though is that a lot of times the alternate characters don’t play like what people feel that Sonic should play like. Knuckles and Rouge had those horribly slow hunting stages. Big the Cat went fucking FISHING :wtf:. The E-102 GAMMA shooting stages were actually received fairly well, but then they took the same idea and made it really freaking slow in Adventure 2. Shadow got guns, which to make matters worse had really terrible auto-aim AI, and then got put in vehicles too.
As far as all this goes, '06 was the worst offender. The camera problems somehow got worse not better. Attacks are still majorly buggy and will miss things, even things right in front of you. Fall through the floor deaths. Unfair and cheap hits in the auto-run sections. The overall game speed is slower than past games, due both to slower movement speeds and increases in move lag and removal of some move canceling from previous games. Some characters are given really shitty moves and combat styles too, like OMEGA in particular (and why the hell did Tails keep Ring Dummy instead of Tail Whip?). Silver was given a particularly slow style of gameplay, made even more exacerbating by the constant slowdown caused by the large number of enemies he fights in conjunction with the graphical effects of his TK. And despite the massive number of fan complaints about Shadow using vehicles, he still has them in '06 (although at least they ditched the guns). Then you’ve also got the constant slew of loading screens and unbearably long load times. Why do you need to go through 2 loading screens to even start a sub-quest? And then more loading screens inside the sub-quest? And then another one before the results tally at the end too?
Anyway, I still like this series. But to say you don’t see the steady downfall throughout the 3D games is kinda blinding yourself.
