The Official Ranting Thread

I haven’t had much time to play the game because of work, but here are my thoughts…but firstly…

Since I am new to this forum, I have been playing Street Fighter 4 for about 2-3 years and Marvel since it came out, I am a regular stream monster even though I am in the UK, and even after visiting these forums loads I never made an account, so now SFXT is out, I thought this was an Ideal time…

Now my thoughts…

Aesthetics:

> As mentioned, the announcer saying the characters names as you hover over them is stupid
> Only 4 colours…not even that, two of them are black and white which doesn’t really account to much variety

Opinions:

> I just can’t seem to get to grips with the mechanics, maybe because I haven’t played it much, but I get beaten by people who use tactics that, if used in SSF4AE I would of just destroyed them…
> Frame Traps and block strings just seem so godlike…I can barely escape from some.
> Online is just awful anyway, every game is laggy and the missing Sound Effects strangely puts me off…
> Ryu’s hadouken charge and cancel is just lethal o_O

I say this, but when Marvel 3 came out I hated it, but carried on playing it and I am now really good at it, but we’ll see.

Just got blown up online a few times. Not blocking a cross over in this game is the worst thing that can happen! Ugh

I really hate that I can’t play local play online.

Diagonal inputs seems very strict. I seem to get hit by normal attacks such as st.lp while blocking downback. While I think I’m blocking its actually only registering as a down input.

Random stuff I want them to fix/change:

  • Option to turn off Quick Combos
  • Working anti-airs
  • Option to activate gems in Training Mode
  • Option to create a set of gems and select from that list instead of doing it per char
  • Don’t apply the Pandora sound effect filter in Training Mode
  • Supers should eat less of the clock
  • Win/Loss numbers in Endless like in SSFIV
  • Smaller stages
  • More stages
  • Option to select which part of the stage you wanna play in Training Mode (eg. Mishima Estate levels)
  • Tone down the effects. Gives me a headache.

If colors were going to be free, why not leave them unlocked on the disc version?

Doesnt add up.

This happens to me a lot as well. Its annoying as fuck. This needs to be fixed.

I didn’t buy the game, didn’t play the game, never planned to, and know very little about it. But this… this is just plain unacceptable and dropping the ball on something like that proves their team was incompetent or obviously rushed the game. That’s like fighting 101 shit.

Training mode is missing some options present in SSFIV. Namely, it would be nice to have infinite super/cross meter (or whatever the fuck it’s called) in order to practice supers or team supers, etc.

It definitely has that.

I noticed this as well. It’s strange.

I’ll never understand why supers take up the time limit considering how long they are

At first I was really liking this game but after tonight, I’m having a few doubts.

Three major complaints:

  1. Apparently stand jab is the best move in the game, stand jab, walk stand jab is so good it’s not funny.

  2. Over half the characters can’t anti-air to save their life, on top of this air to air counter hit gives juggle/ big damage so everyone just jumps around like fucking monkeys.

  3. Cross canceling long reversals is really good, not that I don’t think it should be in the game, but it’s getting old really fast since meter is so easily built everyone just mashes and cancels it ~~ like 5 times in one round…at least in sf4 fadc was a big investment of meter…now with meter gems/whiffing normals giving meter ala 3rd strike it just seems like people can use this tactic way to often.

Just my take on an otherwise fun game, at least in training room.

My BIGGEST COMPLAINT…Online…Beginners who have no Idea how to play the game thus them resulting in LP throughout the whole game and using Akuma’s gohadoken my gosh it’s a mess…Maybe if you train with them before trying to sneak a noob move then you wouldn’t have that. Other than that It’s fine to me. Wish there was a explanation to the team edit ending because I want to know who took Pandora!

I HATE ryu/ken/akuma. Broken as hell. They have an answer to everything!

Feeling ya right there. Combine the flashing gem colors, background shenanigans, techno music and completely overdone hit sparks, this game is visually nauseating at times.

I think the hit sparks hide too much of the characters; it’s hard to see what exactly is going on during certain moves, since the hit sparks are huge and numerous.

Spamming combos into launch…

Where is the gallery mode? Personally, I like the little animated sequences and the in-game art, but there does not seem to be a gallery mode allowing me to easily view them again. WTF? Gallery has been a standard mode since… I cannot remember when, but I have a funny feeling even SSFIIT had a gallery of promotional art! Why are Capcom wasting time on garbage like netcode and neglecting one of the core modes of any decent fighting game?

Ok ill join in here:

[]Loading screen before a match takes way too long, in fact the whole process of choosing characters until getting stuck into a round takes way too long. I cannot see any reason why anybody would play in a lobby with more than 3 players. As every match goes to timeout, coupled with the time it takes to actually choose characters and get into the match you would have to be nuts to sit at the back of a 6 person lobby and wait your turn.
[
]Why no instant rematch with the same characters option in a 2 person endless lobby? MVC3 had this.
[]Sound online (obviously) never thought id be bothered but its a real leveller for a decent player agasint a poor player as you rely on the blocking sounds and cutting out in mid combo is a real issue. Game-breaking in fact online.
[
]Why is there no online option to play without gems? Im sure ill get used to it but the characters flashing in bright lights around me just looks rubbish and is very distracting during a match.
[]The screen is way too big/characters too small. Ive been in matches for the last 30 secs the other player has just ran for the timeout and its very difficult to catch them before timeout.
[
]Is Pandora mode actually any use at all or a broken gimmick?
[]In training mode when you perform a cross assault the cpu controlled player stays on the screen indefinitely and you have to reset the training game to get back to normal.
[
]Quick combos is a complete wate of time. Who the fck cannot press a lk and then follow up with a HK without having to using meter. If you have a problem with this then you have no hope in fighting games.
[]Each round consists of jump, tap lp over and over until out of range…cross up and repeat…cross up and repeat over and over again until a hit confirm. Is this all there is to this game? I understand pressure and its a valid tactic but why does it always have to be a jumpin. In fact the ground might as well not be there for all the amount of jumping everyone does. Lack of AAs is the reason for this and im sure it will evolve but its taken away a decade of hard learned fighting game ‘skill’ from decent players.
[
]Lobby scores i.e. win/loss records in the lobby.

Do capcom dev teams not talk to each other? What worked well in our last fighting game? ok lets put that in straight away. No, nothing of the sort. I seriously hope the persons responsible for testing the online/sound issues have lost their jobs. How that got through testing is a disgrace for a company of this size and heads should roll.

seriously why is it we cant get a legit button config screen? Its not even funny anymore, EVEN SF2 ON SNES HAD THIS OPTION! Is Capcom stupid or something?

…anyways, I guess it doesn’t matter to me because I think this game is all around garbage. slow normals, slow walk speeds and the long stages dont help. Capcom’s/Ono’s formula for fighting games is fucken terrible. Not to mention this whole DLC debacle.

fuck SFxT. there, I said it. then again I didnt like SF4/MvC3 either so…
