Links I get that all the time too, I just stop watching after round one and do something else, and when its my turn I check back every 30ish seconds after round 2 starts
Two things always seem to happen to me when trying out a new character. Either I run into some who plays super random or I run into someone really good and it seem like I barely get to try much out.
Law is too god damned safe on everything. Keep his damage, hell I say keep his invincibility on a bunch of those BS moves, but all of them must be punishable. Tired of people being able to just toss out random shit because he can. Unless I pick other safe tiers like Hwo or Jin, I canât do ANYTHING against him. It makes me cry so hard.
I could safely conclude that those disconnections has something more to do with GFWL than my net connection as I tested that I have a B-C grade ping in Lynnwood. Screw GFWL.
LK Flip Kick and MK Flip kick can be made pretty much entirely safe. If you do a normal (blocked) then LK flip kick you are over half screen which almost no one has a 7F startup move that can reach you in time. If you do something like a properly spaced cr.MK - MK Flip Kick (you canât hit the cr.MK at absolute max range or the MK Flip Kick will whiff.) then you are at half screen and almost no one has a 4F startup move that reaches half screen.
Thats true but if you main Law, you know that in an actual match between 2 people who know how to play the game (because lets face it, 99% of the time someone complains about Law its going to be NOT one of those guys) thats where Lawâs pressure ends because if he presses a button after it, he gets counterhit. Furthermore, Law hes a hard time getting in (not hugo hard, but definitely amongst one of the worse characters when it comes to that aspect) and you really dont want to be sitting on a life deficit with no way to get in without getting neutral jumped (AKA Bison syndrome) or vs someone with a 3 frame jab simply⌠jabbed out of your way in (st.mp is 0 on block and your best bet at getting in without stopping your pressure as soon as you get close, and he doesnt have a 3 frame jab himself)
yeah that is true, I was just pointing out that your statement that his specials being punishable isnât really accurate at all. They arenât advantageous or good for applying pressure but that isnât the same thing as being punishable.
As for getting in? Iâd hardly call Law âamong the worstâ def among the worst of the top tier characters but I would put him somewhere around mid level overall at getting in. Iâd certainly put him higher than Paul, Hugo, Asuka, Cody, Marduk, Zangief, Poison, Yoshimitsu and maybe King, Guy, Abel or Steve but those ones are a bit debatable. And of course that is only characters that might actually want to get in, not counting Sagat or Jack-X.
âLaw is the scrub character of the yearâ- PR Balrog
It seems even some pro players despise him. So I guess people should expect average players to hate him as wellâŚ
At this point, I guess we should get used to ultra boriiiiiiing matches every time you fight a decent Law. I hate the fact that he establishes too much dominance on a lot of matchups. Thatâs probably why many people hate him tooâŚYou have to fight his safe stuff and hope you donât mess up. Itâs definitely not fun fighting him.
Also shoutouts to EX flip kick being the most awkward move to punish in SFxTâŚLanding a successful punish on that crap is so weird to get.
Iâm not sure where the hit-boxes start and end on EX Flip Kick. >_>
Also, about Law not being âthat badâ, he is. Loads of people complain about this guy more than anyone else, only comparable with Hwoarang. Itâs just like Cody during 2012, but the problem at hand is different. You can try to vouch for Law with the âitâs not THAT badâ defense, but still. Certainly not as bad as he couldâve been, or as bad as what top tier meant before 2013, but that doesnât mean he doesnât need nerfs or isnât deserving of them.
Not the right place to discuss, but imo he only needs slightly increased recovery on his flip kick and that is still debatable as it is possible to punish it already. Anything else would damage his viability in tournaments. Most complaints are coming from online players, who have never played vs offline Law. Personally I still have to run into that Law player that makes me wanna throw my arcade stick somewhere.
Law is not OP⌠He is just a character that gives a player an unneccesary amount of comfort and power for not a lot of effort invested. And hits way too hard for a guy like him. I just hate seeing his ugly ass face 45686 times a week online and on streams.
I am pretty positive he is just an average character that has a lot of legit fans. :kappa:
Itâs basically the problem of Vanilla Cody and Vanilla Rolentoâs safety but slightly less safe and a TON more damage. Vanilla Cody was stupidly safe thanks to boost chains and his cr.LK reached too far which let him do those boost chains easier, but with Vanilla Cody there was at least 2 things that made it at least a LITTLE bit less annoying; his damage was/is terrible and relied heavily on his partner (which was actually a decent positive since his boost chains were so safe.) and his b.MP while def in the top 5 best anti airs in the game didnât lead to additional damage like Lawâs flip kick does. Vanilla rolento had the jab pressure and safe patriot circle and another really solid anti air that didnât really do much damage but was difficult to get around (his s.MP).
Law is safe (which irritates a lot of people.) and damaging (which IMO is just as big an issue) while Rolento/Cody were safe but low damage (however in SFxT running down the clock is a perfectly viable option, especially in vanilla, so being safe and low damage still could net you a lot of wins against characters with high damage. That is why the two top teams were safe pressure with low damage partner with a long reaching zoning character who could run down the clock (Cody/Dhalsim and Rolento/Jack-X)
To clarify, I respect the hell out of good Law players. In my eyes, if youâre tossing out random EX FFR or random flip kicks in the middle of my hitstrings, this is where I get mad. Whatâs worse, I canât punish them. Iâve read up and I know on paper a bunch of his moves are punishable, but with Asuka and Abel, I canât. Their range doesnât allow them to. I can SOMETIMES get a punish with Alisa, and with some assistance from this forum and me reading up, Juri has been much more successful for me against him. Its just frustrating that the level of work required to get in on Law with certain characters and he literally has moves that are Combo Breakers
Also that stupid hitbox on the way down for the EX flipkick is garbage. Like you said, so hard to punish properly, mostly because at that point theyâve already tagged in their partner and they have SO much time to do so.
