if you play to win and win… what do you gain? Some bragging rights, fictional points, maybe a replay. It’s not like it’s a tournament
If you play to learn… what you do gain? You gain knowledge, patience, devlop skills you need so that when you play to win… you’re more likely to win. (preferably when it matters. like a money match or tournament)
I mean if i really sat down and grinded i could probably get master rank. But i know that regardless of what my rank is Tatsu could beat me. He’s not gonna magically get intimidated by my crown and just start fuckin up (even if he didnt have one himself)
But yeah if i get a certain rank playing properly it definitely means something to some extent. It’s not like I fucking chessed my way to 20k with Assist Gems (back when they were strong) like a certain Rose player that I use to respect until I saw how he played on SFxT. And its not like I am riding on a strong partner to get me some BP. I am playing on my own with the legit gems set ups I intend to rock in offline competition. I lose to random BS a lot of times cause I respect my opponent’s intelligence way too much. Have you seen me complain about the amount of idiocy online? I have gotten my points on me trying my best to treat the matches as tournament matches all around. I do have 10k on each system and it has taken me an eternity to get there. I do have a life after all. So don’t try to belittle the efforts of a person of at least playing ranked matches. At the end of the day even if online ranking means nothing. We would be lying to ourselves if we played ranked matches just for the hell of it.
Wow I got bodied by Suparstarx in AE tonight. I will, in return, body him in xT (along with the rest of the PSN frauds) tomorrow on his own channel: twitch.tv/suparstarx
My matches were horrible, and my wins are dubious. The thing I’ve learned in my losses is that my Nina is one-dimensional as I’ve over-relied on j.HK (jumping towards Yoshimitsu’s vacuum fan, really?). I remember this situation when I used Juri during the early stages where I over relied on her Shikusen to get in. I’ll need to find a way to make her more effective in offense. It doesn’t help that I’ve spent the past few days learning Windows 7 (10 years XP user) than learning this game.
My main fault here is that I treat Nina as an SF character, forgetting her Tekken strings altogether.
LOL invite RagingRay, Stanky_Beenur (for dat Cody cheese factor), myself, Windalfr (rage inducing 1 shots from Steve and Bryan) and you’ve got yourself one hell of a stream filled with nothing but asswhoopins left and right.
I’m not trying to belittle you at all. I play ranked matches because that’s where the majority of players are playing. All caring about your rank does is piss you off if you lose. If you win, then you have the added pressure (i.e. distraction) of knowing that if you lose that you have to win twice to make up for it. Chances are, you’re way less likely to play solid toward the end of a match you’re losing in (when you need to play solid the most) and you’ll end up losing either getting baited, or by doing something stupid/desperate. Play your best and when the match is over, if you won, great. if you lost, figure out why and work on it. Eventually you’ll get to the point where you’ll just get points easily because you’ll see how stupidly shitty everyone playes and that it doesnt take much work after all to get however many points you want. look at it this way. The more you care about points, the harder it probably is for you to get those points. If the points are hard to get, then they are even harder to keep. If they are hard to keep then chances are you’re probably not good enough to have had those points anyway. Either that or the points system is unfair.
I wanna give a BIG FUCK YOU to the Steve player that after barely beating me decided to kick me out of his endless lobby. I am so mad I dropped a couple of combos and wanted that runback cause I knew I had him.
Shoutouts to you Mr. GreatZucchini.
I couldn’t message him cause when I logged on to XBL I got a lovely message saying my communications were disabled for a month. I am pretty sure that Gief player from last night has something to do with this…hmmpppphhh…
My exact thoughts. Not to say I’m not guilt of being pissed that I lost matches or lost points, but usually after a few minuts… or an hour… orrrrrr a few hours… orrrrrr a few… days… I calm down and come back to this:
“If they are hard to keep then chances are you’re probably not good enough to have had those points anyway.”
It hurts to admit it but then I realize that it’s true.
To this day I still don’t think I deserved the points I got in SSFIV with most of my characters. Was proven true IMO when my Rose got de-ranked (back to C+). and I won’t lie, I was depressed about that shit for a while, lol.
Currently practicing on chaining Flash Kicks to either Skull Splitter or Geyser Cannon as it seems to be the most effective way to hit-confirm. Trying to memorize Bermuda Triangle as well for my mix-ups. I always tend to forget using Ivory Cutter as I tend to doubt its usefulness due to its slow animation. XD
Although after the string of losses and fraudulent wins yesterday my confidence has taken a huge hit.
Screw this. I’ll just go back to Juri. I’ll just end up dropping combos due to lag anyway. Huge damage is useless if I can’t hit them. -_-
My possible benefit in learning a bit with Nina would be put into use if I get to face a Nina player.
Going to spring back in SFxT when I can settle down with a team. I stuck with character loyalty and it doesn’t pay off because I don’t think the synergy is there lol (Nina and Law)
Old Chinese proverb say "If you go into battle not using Ivory Cutter…surely you will die, but if you go into battle using Ivory Cutter, surely you will live. Learn well Maverick San. :china:
this came after i won and said “gg your raven is rly good” when really i was just being nice because no one plays raven. Pretty much just jumped back all game jab jab with a lil lag. btw i smoke because i have crohn’s disease and it helps me eat/feel better … on top of it being fun.
Man I’m so stupid. I fell for DP switch cancel BS from Ken constantly instead of just AC’ing it everytime it came out. Damn I hate when I play so bad it hurts!
Wow I just lost 300 BP today because of communication errors. I hope it’s not my connection getting fucked up.
