The Official Ranting Thread

How can I play normally with other people across the Globe and only lag with some? Who are closer to me, mind you.

Your connection will vary, there’s so many variables. There is pretty much no way to tell if it’s your connection’s ‘fault’ or theirs. Everyone always assumes it’s the other person at fault and their ‘stupid cheap internet’.

I actually prefer auto-match for ranked, though SFxT and current online games in general could improve the matchmaking ability for sure. Reason I like it better is that it prevents people from choosing their opponent at will in ranked.

IMO, ranked should be a best 2-out-of-3 set, not just one match that determines things.

As far as blacklisting, I dunno how it works for PSN, but I know on 360 you can select “avoid this player” in their profile (whether SFxT uses this info or not when selecting matches, I’m not sure). Maybe someone else can confirm whether I’m right about that, or if I’m a blithering idiot. :razzy:

This is true, I’m guilty of that myself, lol.

I’m guessing this issue isn’t exclusive to SFXT, but it’s really frustrating when you’re in training mode and the inputs show that you’ve made the right joystick movements mid-combo, but you still only get a regular attack instead of a special attack. This probably has to do with Capcom’s efforts to simplify game inputs. From what I’ve seen it makes it worse instead of better.

Hmm… I usually end up getting EX moves instead of Super with Juri, or a special attack that I didn’t want because of Negative Edge. Inputs in Capcom games tend to overlap a bit too much overall though, they need to tighten that up and/or give us the option to turn shortcuts off.

i thought the expert input gem got rid of shortcuts

Hmm… I don’t think so. I think it does make them harder to do? Or maybe some shortcuts are removed but not all (like DP)?

i’ll have to check it out. too bad they didnt make non-auto block/tech gems a diff color

yeah, I already said that too. Is it so hard to create a fourth section called utility and color them silver or something? Me and my buddy wouldn´t be called “assistgem cheaters” because of using assault extend if they had their own section.

Random rant:

Sometimes I daydream about other characters getting into the game. And then I realize, since I am dreaming why not get wild?
And I end thinking about putting the following in the game:

K9999/Angel
Rugal (boss)
Robo-Ky/A.B.B.A
Baiken/Anji
Peacock/Painwheel
Ms. Fortune/Squigly
Kasumi/Ayane

The recent guest fighters on Dead or Alive (Virtual or Alive?) didn’t help.

Does this happen to anyone else here?

I really would have liked to see Honda in this game … and Q.

I’m honestly surprised they don’t have any sumo-style characters. Maybe it’s because no one plays him in 4 besides Miguel Rossington…

Honda teamed-up with Hakan for sure. I would gladly see a trailer of all the characters sliding face first to a wall.

Q is very cool, but hard to set-up with a official team on story mode.

He should be a secret boss.

Q and Akuma :3

Encountered a player that used a lag switch on me. 1 hit left on his character and BOOM! lag kicks in. Tags out and counters everything I threw from then on due to lag. His xbox account name is CrunchyLeaf

Honest question here as this is another one of those things I’ve been curious about: how can you tell if someone’s using a lag switch as opposed to just having two wires and paper cups for internet? There’s been some matches where I’ve thought that (mostly in AE) and the player messaged me afterwards and apologized for their connection suddenly becoming craptastic. And shouldn’t that affect both players anyhow?

Again, I ask that not to criticize, but to understand.

Yes, I would like to know that too. I’ve seen some threads in the SSFIVAE section about a notorious lag switcher/douchebag and aside from sudden lags in the middle of a match are there any other ways to find out if the other guy’s a lag switching scumbag or just happen to have a bad connection.

This game just feels so pointless online sometimes. I know I’m particularly great at the game in the first place, but I can’t comprehend how I keep losing to shitty Ryu players online. To be honest, the only character I am competent with is Steve, so that may be part of where my problems lie. Why the hell is this the only game where “ease of use = tier placement”? In Marvel and Street Fighter the easy characters have blatant weak points and can be dealt with. Here, it seems like most (+75%) of the people I fight just pick shotos, play lame, and win.
It wouldn’t suck so bad if this wasn’t the only game my one offline opponent plays…

Ease to use =/= tier placement. That doesn’t really make since especially considering there’s a thing called vergil and no one is really hard to use in sfxt. And idu shouldn’t u be better considering that u also play offline. And steve is part of ur prob if ur most competnet with him cuz he’s not that great

ease of use= tier placement in MVC3/UMVC3: Wolverine,Akuma,Wesker,Sentinel,Vergil,Phoenix,Dr.Doom,Spencer,Dormammu,Ammy…
