Geohot said he hacked the PS3, when the “hack” involves opening up your system and actually zapping one of the PS3 parts. He’s full of it, knows it, and wants more attention. You can’t make custom anything for the PS3 without the root key, and as I said, it’s protected with the “key to the safe is in the safe” method.
Even if he does make custom firmware, it won’t boot anything without the root key.
i think his custom firmware is to keep otherOS while allowing you to update, though i can’t imagine that will fly with psn and such, but i know no coding or what’s possible.

I just got the gold trophy for completing all mini-games. IMO you should get a platinum just for that, I’d say Yakuza 3 is one of the hardest games to platinum. It’s up there with Ninja Gaiden,Demon Souls etc. For golf you have to learn how to use different golf clubs to get the right distance. Make sure you take note of the wind direction. For example, if the wind is 2m going west, direct your shot 2m to the east of where you want it. So you kinda have to work with the wind, also note that you should perfect your shot timing. If it’s too far off your shot gets screwed, and use the putter for close shots. I was lucky when I got -5 cause the wind was good that day. Golf is one of those games where you have to keep playing to get the feel for it. Sadly there are no secret tips that really work.
IMO EX HARD Baseball is the hardest mini game because they take away your target marker and the balls fly in different directions. What makes it worse is you can’t hit two panels to get more points like the other games. A tip is as soon as Kazuma stops moving his bat around, that is when you hit the ball. You can hit the ball 100% of the time no joke! The hard part is positioning the camera to aim instead of the target marker. The gambling games are more or less random but you can predict better outcomes when you realize which opponents have luck streaks. Depending on the certain game you bet against or with them. There are also items that can help change odds when playing these games. You get them from side quests or coin lockers. Pool was surprisingly not that difficult once you understand how to use the appropriate strength and position. Use the overhead view to get better shots, it helps A LOT.
The other mini-games are not that bad, UFO catcher is just random but you eventually will get every stuffed animal. Right now I’ve done 540 things out of 615 on the completion lists. The only remaining lists I have to finish is Heat & Modding. I’m on the final chapter so I think I can very much do this on my 1st playthrough. :bgrin:

Damn Yazuka 3 demo, being all addictive with giving me extra things to do and shit. This thing has me playing the UFO Catcher Game for damn Biggy Blue bear and made it addictive as hell.
I blame Sarangha. Making me want to play this damn game and getting me addicted.

So, I tried to play sf4 online and the game would freeze most of the time during the vs screen. Didn’t think much of it cause it could be a network issue of some such thing. Still had access to the home menu.
Then I tried to play FF13 and it froze before the title screen. Sound familiar at all?

Did anyone else just turn on their PS3’s? I did and was prompted to update my firmware, and yes it does take away OtherOS. I think it’s pretty shitty to remove features, and it even says if you don’t update you can’t connect to PSN and things like that. Luckily I never used another OS on mine, but sucks for people who did.
