The Official PS3 thread

Well that’s interesting…I did a search for “End of Eternity” on the JPN store and all I got were trailers for the game. It seems the demo isn’t advertised anymore but I can still download it from my download history.

I don’t see Warhawk and Bionic Commando Rearmed in there. Or Grandia. Shatter’s pretty cool, too.

alright ill take a picture of her later.

(shes a little on the heavy side though ;_:wink:

No love for Trash Panic.

LOL at what Superking did. I guess him and Septimus are gone.

My friend came over with Dante’s Inferno and it was a lot of fun.

There is a lot of stuff I didn’t mention because A) I forgot about it or B) Didn’t even know it was a game.

How about metal gear solid? Real talk, my favorite part of MGS4 was playing the flashback of MGS1.

Any Pixeljunk game except for Racers. That’s the weakest one of them all.

I was at Walmart earlier today, and I noticed they had Dante’s Inferno for $40 on PS3. I even double checked the small print on the tag and it said Dante’s Inferno PS3. Which I thought was odd, I wanted to pick it up (that’s a great price for such a new game) but too many games coming out in the next couple weeks. I don’t know if it was a screw up or if it’s just that 1 store but it might be something to look out for.

For PS3 games I’d go Zen Pinball, PixelJunk Shooter and Eden, and while it’s one of the many PSN games I’ve yet to try I hear Braid is also really good.

On the PS1 classics side of things it’s all about the Resident Evil games and Dino Crisis if you’re into the whole tank controls thing.

It’s no mistake as I’ve noticed it at the Wal-Mart near my place as well. Wal-Mart appears to have this new trend of marking down some newer games to $40 during their first few weeks of release. I picked up Arkham Asylum and Borderlands for $40 each back when they came out.

Yeah, Dante’s Inferno is on sale this week for both systems.

I’d like to know more than just "get this game because"
Like, what type of game is it, how it plays…etc.

MGS and Grandia are must haves though.

Hardly anyone cares, but the Dark Forest DLC for Dante’s Inferno has been out since yesterday evening…it’s free for those who got the Divine Edition version. (*actually, I’ve never seen a “regular” version on Ps3.)

The extra costume is a straight up bullshit joke though–a “Disco Inferno” outfit for Dante. That’s so wrong…you put the joke crap as an unlockable in the regular game. A DLC extra costume should be something cool. Then again, I’m still of the “old school” opinion that extra costumes/character skins shouldn’t be DLC in the first place. I miss the days when you get something like that just by beating higher difficulties, or collecting all of a certain item, or getting perfect ranks on all stages, etc.

I might need to check out RoF to see if its my thing. Will probably get both FF13 and it too. There has never been a RPG I have passed on.

Just downloaded the yakuza 4 demo…i have no idea what they are saying but i like the atmosphere of it.

Rez is a rail shooter kinda like starfox where you control your movement to some extent, but are constantly being pushed forward and must dodge enemy fire. You can either mash shoot or you can precisely hold down the fire button to target up to 8 enemies, release the button and they will all be destroyed simultaneously. Your life is sort of visually represented as getting hit “devolves” you into a different form and getting enough bonus items “evolves” you and allows you to take more hits. There are also overdrives, or items that take out everything on the screen in case of you get overwhelmed. These are limited in supply however.

Shooting makes a percussive sound, hitting an enemy makes a certain sound. Hitting chains of enemies makes a certain sound. Everything in the game is very audio focused. There are 10 “layers” to each stage. The first layer is silent except for any attacks you make or things you do. The second layer has a constant bass beat, and at this point the controller will vibrate to the beat as well. Later layers add more tracks or beats or rhythms until you get to the boss at layer ten. The boss fight is an audio/visual masterpiece that is sort of hard to explain, it simply has to be “experienced”.

Visually the game looks kinda like a tron-esque techno dream. Lots of random shaped polygonal enemies and wire frame level designs. Very stylized.

videos (taken from ps2 version, won’t look as good as the PSN version will)

<—First level. Vids are sort of a poor way to convey how fun the game is though.

Well I’m retarded, I thought Rez was on psn but it’s not? or something?

I haven’t heard of anything that bad since the alternate costume Dante had in DMC2.

Pixeljunk Monsters is a tower-defense game, waves of monsters come and you build towers to defend. Great fun, and definitely gets harder in the later levels along with bonus levels that have a certain amount of trees to build towers on, or one type of enemy that’s really fast, etc. Pixeljunk Shooter is a shooter where you’re basically rescuing an excavation crew, except you have to deal with lava, ice, and there’s plenty of cool boss fights. Pixeljunk Eden is a platformer, I really can’t explain much else about it. I know there’s a demo for Pixeljunk Eden, I don’t know off the top of my head if there’s one for Monsters and Shooter.

And this post sums up what happened the best.

Sale? damn, I was hoping I could get Dante’s Inferno for that price next month because there’ too much this month. Oh well, figured it was too good to be permanent.

And about PixelJunk Monsters (never played it) but if you’ve never tried a tower defense games, there’s a demo for the Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders, which is a TD. I’m sure they’re different, but basic idea is the same.

I too would recommend Braid, some don’t like it but I thought it was fun. It’s a puzzle platform style game, but you can manipulate time (which has various effects depending on the world). It’s a puzzle game in that you need to figure out how to manipulate time to get puzzle pieces throughout the worlds and some aren’t really damn hard to figure out.

Oh man, I just watched a new video of ModNation Racers on Giant Bomb…I want the game even more now. The track editor is godly.

is there a date for that game yet? I’m not a big racer fan, but I think kart racers are great and ModNation looks really fun.
