The Official PS3 thread

I don’t know where you’re getting your information, but most TVs with less than 12ms of response time are fine for gaming. Mine has 8ms, and I don’t notice any lag. I even know that a few TVs that reduce that to 1 or 2ms in gaming mode. Recently, you would have to buy an non-namebrand model to get an HDTV with over 6ms response time.

And before you give me any stuff about CRTs/SDTVs, you should know the average CRT gives 6-10ms response time, so technically, you might have LESS lag over HDMI if you use gaming modes.

EDIT: Should have a through impression of The Fight: Lights Out in a few days. You need 2 Move controllers to play, but my dad’s places doesn’t have much room, so it couldn’t track my head (proof the PS Eye creates a frame around the player). There’s NO waggle here; you have to really PUNCH.

Also picked up Dante’s Inferno from BB after having to return a different copy to Amazon (they sent me the PAL version!)

I get paid Monday, so I’m finally gonna pick up a copy of Bayonetta. It’s $20 new now. I also start my new job then, so I can catch up on all the games I’ve missed out on the past few months of unemployment.

Input lag does not equal response time.

I was kinda responding to someone’s idea that an HDTV (based on model) somehow contributes to input lag. It doesn’t.

A game running at 60 fps means each frame is on the screen 16.5ms. Response time is how long it takes to change a pixel to a different color. Response time has to be less than or equal to the “frame time” in order to avoid ghosting, or “lag”.

Since we can’t take the manufacturer’s advertised response time at face value (as they use that value for changing a pixel in grayscale), we can assume it’s probably double the advertised response time.

So, 8ms x 2 = 16ms; still faster than needed to get a 60fps game running without ghosting.

It’s plenty fun, it’s just really, REALLY hard.

Like, Ikaruga hard?

LOL. that’s what I’ve been waiting on for a while. I’m sure the big announcement will hit right at the start of 2011.

Porn will be downloaded at speeds never before seen and viewed with fever beyond that of anything known. The action is so real, the lapdance is actually IN YOUR LAP!

Yeah. Same here. I got trolled, but I’m still willing to beat it just because I plunked down the cash for it. Anyone else, I say get with a friend and try it or the demo first. You’ll probably end up buying something else with the cash.

-Starhammer-

There’s a demo?

Well I’m playing it on hard and ummm…it’s not that hard? Then again I’m in the 2nd level and I finally figured a proper path to take.
BTW how can I use the triangle button properly?

EDIT: Looks like some Turbo Grafix 16 games are coming to US and EU PSN-

I’m betting one year we’ll get some shit that’s like 12 pieces (no screen…they will set up a viewing area/field in the area between the units) w/built-in miniprojectors that bolt to the floor, wall, and ceiling (4 on the back flush with wall, 4 a couple feet ahead of those, and 4 in front closest to the viewer), and project true 3d images. That’s the only way to do 3dtv. Everything else is just a gimmick. Wait and see.

Have you actually fought the boss for the 2nd level yet? The dungeon for level 3 is really tough too, several enemies are way beyond your strength level, the dungeon itself is HUGE and really easy to get lost in.

Triangle is for pale mist stuff. When you attack an enemy, white orbs come out of them right? If you let those dissipate, it’ll store more PM, increase your max HP and heal you a bit, and recover some CP. As long as you have at least 8 PM stored, you can double tap T to summon 8 mists around you that you can use.

Instead of letting them dissipate, you can press u,u+T or d,d+T to use no cost versions of those magics you normally use with square. You can also just press T while in the middle of your normal attacks and it’ll automatically use the d,d+T version.

Really useful guide from the english site: http://www.crescentpalemist.com/cpm-manual.pdf

Yes.

^Ah no I didn’t fight the boss yet…but you’ve gotten me hype for it, lol.
Thanks for the tips too

if anyone figures out how to get past the beginning part of stage 5 with the black onion let me know. I cant seem to figure out how to cross the huge gap. and surprisngly enough that manual that you linked, i have not see anything about using enemies to bounce of them.

cause you never played the tutorial. using the Knock Jump is really hard though, at least for me. I can’t even do it twice in a row

is stage 5 the ice level?

i played the tutorial, that is why i know it exists and why i knew it didnt come up in that instruction manual.

i dont think it is the ice level? it looks like greyish rock? and i think you actually have to execute some sort of knock jump to proceed past the first part of the level by using this giant black onion that has infinite life. i can get 2 jumps off the onion it that wont get me far enough forward, and after the 2nd jump it immediately knocks the onion straight down so you cant use it for a 3rd jump, this is at least what was happening to me when i was trying it.

Sorry I read what you said wrong, MY BAD

It’s been years since I got that far so yeah maybe it is more of a rock level but I know what you’re talking about. IIRC you don’t have to get across there to finish the level, there’s just an item over there. But again it’s been years so I forget.

I just stopped by Blockbuster/Gamerush cause i hadn’t been there in a minute…

they had a few ps3 games used for sale, all had case and manuals looking good…

White Knight Chronicles- $20
GoW3- $20
Bayonetta- $10

never grabbed some games so fast in my life

it’s no problem homie, just thought i would clarify.

White Knight Chronicles is ass. Bad voice acting, bad lip syncing with the dialog, shitty character creation edits and really cluttered HUD. (With a shitty Battle System to go with the cluttered HUD)

I played it for maybe 2 hours and returned it.

continues to play white knight chronicles :coffee:

I’m with Stu on the WKC. That game plays like a Japanese MMO, minus the things that make a MMO good.
