I think you need to read your list again Shatterstar cuz
That came from the like list and it’s hardly “Dude I was impressed by this game” comment material.

Ah, now I remember. Shatta is the guy that thinks people only like DMC3 because of Vergil. I would find that post but I don’t feel like skimming through the DmC thread.
go and find it. NOW.
but in all seriousness, what game would DMC3-SE be if Virgil wasn’t playable? No one hyped up Vanilla DMC3 untill SE came out and you know it. You trolling, son. Virgil had way more fanboys than Dante did. Plus Dante’s DT form was the butt-ugly.
Oh, for reals? Was it?! Awwwwww.
One “complaint” does not = “I hated the game overall”. One thing about a game is not enough to make me like or dislike something. There has to be some kind of balance. hot, luke-warm, and cold.
thankx for pointing that out. It was purposely to be a PS3 title addition. But I was impressed with the game. Cutscense were good, minus the Dante trolling the Hatian-looking, st-st-st-s-st-stutter boss. Nero’s ability was great but it did feel like Staples during most of the game. the story, the levels or lack there of, and the bosses were the low points of the game but it wasn’t enough for me to “hate” the game. I actually liked it just not as much as DMC1.
DMc3 was pretty hyped up before the SE was released yea. Amongst the DMC community it was the return to form of the series being good again. The SE was icing on the cake. Vergils fun but I still like Dante a lot better,.
Dunno what the sarcasms all about. I was simply pointing out to you an example of why your list looks funny. Usually when one is talkign about a game that impresses them they mention at least one good thing about that game instead of only a negetive. You mention RE4 and 5 being in your impressed column but they also only netted negative comments. I mean it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out why it being in the imrpessed column yet netting a negative comment instead of a posative one comes off as odd and confusing. Shit.
Digging through that massive thread is retarded. I remember you saying something like “get off of DMC3’s nuts guys”. And yeah people liked DMC3 before Vergil became playable. You’d be a fool to think otherwise. Vergil being playable was a huge defining point of SE which is fine but DMC3 SE is still good without Vergil. It just would have to be released cheaper. And I still played Dante more than Vergil.
Finally started Costume Quest last night, finished it tonight. Game was pretty fun, but extremely short. It really was like a more kiddy version of the PA games. I had a pretty good time with it, even if finding the yarn for the Unicorn costume had me stumped for a little while. (Didn’t get it till just before the BB final boss)
No game is perfect. shrugs
Plus, all of you comments warrant more incite regardless if you understood the answer to the question or not. That’s your persona, IMO.
Was I suppose to give a review of the games a la EGM?
I mean, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 is on that list, I forgot to add the “HD Remix” part but ironically that’s the only thing I hated about the game. Re-drawn BG’s, great. Ken gets a new stage, uh, ok. Portraits are all re-drawn, awesome. What about the sprites? “Oh, lets skip it. the new blocks and sound effects will make up for it”. Lame, but the game is a “great” port with HD upgrade. Just lazy in regard to the sprites. Oh yea, taking out Felicia’s alt color (tan skin, red hair) was dumb too.
You’re correct. Overall, DMC1 was still better, IMO. the only thing those members in that thread were really saying was “Virgil! Virgil! NOM NOM NOM!” It was annoying. that’s why I said that.
I just wished CAP/ KI did a fusion of the two games. DMC1’s version of Dante, gameplay, style, atmosphere, pacing, secret missions, Devil Arms, and difficulty. Now, combine DMC3’s fighting styles, cinema, and Virgil… HOLY CRAP. Add a co-op online option a la RE 5 Mercenaries. You could play as DMC3 Virgil, Dark Knight Virgil, Sparda, Trish, Lady, DMC3 Dante, OG Dante, Nero, Nightmare (lol, I’m reaching but that still would be cool), Phantom, The Jester, ect. I’m just saying.
We can dream.
No, not initially. People were complaining about Dante talking too much, riding missiles, stupid missions, boring enemies, the look of the Devil Trigger Forms, and why wasn’t Virgil playable. Once a lot of combo vids started surfacing on youtube showing how broken Dantes styles were, especially Maxed out RG, then people started to buzz about DMC3. Not everyone knew how sick the changing of weapons mid-combo and other stuff was in the game initially. By that time, SE had just came out. But you’re right, SE was the icing on the cake.
bought heavy rain today. game’s pretty epic that is all.
my ideas for 2nd HR
[details=Spoiler]I hope they make a 2nd one. Either a “what happen after the true, good ending” or “10 years down the line, more drama”.
Well, it probably be better if they told a whole knew story with no relation to the original story. Maybe a Darker story, or a lady goes to jail for murder drowning her kids in a lake, 7 year old son and 4 year old daughter, gets life in jail, a lawyer “tries” to get her out for years but “can’t” get an appeal. She has a teen daughter also (12 when it all happen, currently 18). She hates mom, but starts to get “clues” that her mom might be innocent. Mom gets tortured in jail, a lot (by inmates and guards), throw in a shower scene, husband wanted a divorce before incident, and had a bitch on the side. Jail break attempt. Alaskan Bitches. I’m a WARRRRRRIIIIIORRR![/details]
^but whatever.
For anyone in the US that’s interested, Crash Bandicoot 1 is on sale for $3.

just wanna reiterate that heavy rain is insane. wow. gonna have to playthrough this bad boy a few times or ten
playing with move?
Crescent Pale Mist is just as INCREDIBLY FUCKING HARD as I remember. I finally know some stuff I never figured out playing it in Japanese though lol
just beat the game. i can definitely say i did not expect that kind of turn of events. felt like i was watching a movie lol having me all sucked into the story and stuff.
tanabe: naw i’m playing without the move
I am only one trophy away from getting a platinum for Heavy Rain. Waiting to try this game with the move.
It is pretty cool to see what kind of endings people get on their first play through. My brother’s first play had the best ending, while I a semi-bad ending.
Heavy Rain needs more love. It is more than just a QTE game. Let the story consume your mind and it will give in return a very enjoyable experience.
Were people turned off by DMC4 because of Nero’s grabs (grab button = “easy button”?),…or because it doesn’t star Dante as the main protagonist? Nero’s grab added a lot of interesting things. Do people feel it was too strong an attack? It did seem that way to me sometimes.
I hadn’t palyed DMC4 in months but didn’t his grab come out automatically if you set the control to Auto?
Perhaps, but if someone is playing DMC with the attacks set to Auto, then they can’t be knocking the combat for being simplistic.
I got the ending where nobody died my first playthrough. I’ve been meaning to play through this game again with a different ending, and I want to try it with the Move as well, but my backlog is big enough as it is. =\
More about Dante not being the main character than anything. I think people are confusing “easy button” for Auto. No, it’s the circle button aka Nero’s easy button aka Devil Bringer. It’s not broken but it can feel that way sometimes.
You most definitely dished out way more damage as Nero than Dante especially against bosses. “stun the boss, easy button for massive damage”. I liked Nero more in this game more than Dante because his style was more like “fuck you! get the hell out my way!” where Dante was like “Meh, I’m so ill. I wont try too hard since it’s so easy for me any way shrugs”. Raw Unorthodox Power versus Flashy Experienced Master, IMO.
Like the transition from Nero to Dante, then Dante back to Nero… it’s like you’re learning to play the game all over again but just for a brief moment. Nero really does Staples his way through everyone. Not to say you have to use some kind of strategy, where you use that mostly for the white knights, “Blitz”, and bosses, but if it’s only like 2 or 3 enemies on the screen— “suplex, javelin stab, potemkin bustah, drop kick you in the face, GO DOWN!, air garbs, multi-slam into knuckle ball throw”. Seems like Dante has to earn those kills while Nero just beast through most enemies.
Someone must be an idiot to think someone was actually knocking the combat system when they weren’t. DMC4 is not a “I have to hack n slash 120% of the time to survive”, but to say Nero’s style is just as deep as Dante’s— I’d say someone is trolling a bit. There’s literally one enemy that you can just hack n slash through, but even that thing can jump on another enemy and make strategy the only real key to beating it.
I’m just saying.
