You need a jap card to access the jap store, but if you create a us account, you can use the us store.

When you make a new PSN account, it asks you to choose your country. So if you have a US credit card, set up a US account & you’re good to go…unless all the games you want DLC for are also Japanese. In which case play-asia.com or even ebay should do you fine for PSN cards; the premiums are quite high tho’ 
So far I think PS Plus sucks, even more so now that they made it a bi-weekly update. All the free/discounted stuff so far has been towards old titles (inFamous & Red Faction demos? :rolleyes:). It’s only been 2 months for me, but if things don’t change I won’t be re-upping, if Plus is even still around by then.
I think the billing address of your card determines if you can use your CC on Japanese PSN. And the site that I had that sold Japanese PSN cards, doesn’t seem to have them anymore.
Also, to answer your original question, No you don’t need to have a Japanese PSN account just because you have a Japanese PS3. I have a US PS3 and I have a Japanese PSN account (and a US and Euro one too).
Indeed. I have a European PS3 but I also have a US and JAP account. You can fake the details to get the account, the problem is getting the funds into the account after. A lot of places that used to sell region specific PSN cards seem to no longer do so.
Also if your account was JAP, most of the text in the PSN store would be in Japanese. It took me a while to navigate through the menus last time I tried.

I believe the trick was always to use the Hong Kong store, which had access to all of the asian releases, but was in English.
how often does the Playstation plus store update with new stuff(i’m assuming they are all temp deals) I"m thinking about picking it up as i know i can get 50 dollars of “free” stuff at least in a year.
Pixel Junk Monsters (it’s the only one I own) Tower defense with a twist. The game is also co-op.
i didn’t really like the twist of Monsters. i prefer standard types but the demo does a really good job at introducing you to the game so if you like that then you should totally buy the full game. pixeljunk shooter is good stuff and it was just on sale for 5 bucks but it’s over now.
Me and my gf love playing pixel junk monsters together. Good fun. Shooters is a good game. I also got Pixel Junk Eden, but I haven’t really been able to get into it that much. Don’t touch racers, it sucks ballz.
Yeah, that is how I got Tekken 5DR back when HK store had it first. The Jap store has way more stuff than HK now though. HK store is all in english but doesn’t have much stuff compared to what the other regions have now.

Dialogue in PSP FF Tactics is excellent. Much better than the horribly translated original. Plus the dialogue style now fits with all the other Ivalice games, including Vagrant Story. That’s one of many things I loved about psp tactics. It’s better than psx tactics in every way. :tup:
