@Cell: Loving that setup man. Amazing job on your refurb.
@ Trugoy: I’m liking that Vewlix. Is that one of the Coinop Repro’s? If you find a Vewlix replacement, let me know if you’re interested in selling that panel you have there… I’d love to use it on something.
I was going to order that same cab except red/white but then I heard all kinds of horror stories about importing from coinopexpress. I would have thrown in an official vewlix panel and then had authentic looking Taito repro vinyl stickers made up. That cab could potentially look very close to an authentic vewlix. How the moniter performs is another question. Would you care to share how much you spent total on that beast?
Ball park 2200, with shipping, and customs, and broker/importer fees.
Coinop was really easy to deal with, this is the second cabinet i’ve ordered from them, and not a bump at all.
The only thing you dont consider when ordered is, after you pay fees… I had to pay a broker in NYC 160, he received the shipment for me, and then I had to pay another 130 for the warehouse here in Va. (and not to mention customs fees…)
Dude, I love your room! Red walls w/ the linear coverings! Sorry for not loving on your cabs (I have some, so it’s hard for me to go gaga over them anymore), but I was just really taken by the nice room!

Thanks. The cloth is for sound dampening as this room can get very loud.
Vewlix control panels will fit in your cab and I’ve read on ArcadeOtaku that the plastic parts are interchangeable also. I’ve been following a thread where somewhere else bought that same cab from coinop:
I’ve yet to get a good review yet. Im thinking about getting one but I still don’t have enough info on the LCD. Can you verify if yours is a - LCD brand name: Qimei (made in Taiwan)? If so maybe do some input lag tests. I’m basically trying to see if it is as bad as a Vewlix L’s lag is supposed to be. Any other info would be great.
i have been collecting and restoring arcade machines for years… here are a few i restored earlier…! (these are all gone now, i only have the new astro city at present)…
the capcom one i am most proud of. it really was a work of art. i only have the new astro city now though, it is by far the best cabinet i have ever had the pleasure of owning!..
i did intend to keep the capcom one, but i got the chance of the new astro city and i just didn’t have the space for 3 machines.
the candy cab may not be as attractive as the wooden cabs, but for sure, they are far more comfortable to play on, it has a much bigger screen, a perfect sitting postion, and the connectivity of the cabinet is great! however, the biggest selling feature for me was the tri-sync monitor, perfect for xbox360, mame, and jamma pcb’s all in one.
Yes, I’ll run the rockband test maybe tomorrow, and let you know what it says, and model of the LCD.
-my only issue, is with the HDMI, the display is fine on the VGA, but the HDMI has a little issue, like theres a triangle of duplicate display when I play MVC3 i notice it, with the character portraits on the player 2 side, its really small and not a game breaker. If it came down to it, I’d consider gutting the insides and swapping in one of those Panasonics, so I wouldnt need the power converter inside, and would put a better, less shit speaker set in.
-the guy who got one on Arcade Otaku (Evitagen) i think, and I are both talking alot on that thread, lots of good info… too bad the Vewlix panels are 400 USD… wtb used for 200 ? hehe.
i have been using JLW’s in each of the 3 cabs i restored you see above. i disliked the JLF from day one. too loose, too much throw… verses the JLW which has a short throw and tight spring.
im really glad you posted that above, you have convinced me to retro fit a JLW into the astro control panel.
the JLW does feel much tighter and i know i can can play more consistently with it. fireball motions are more precise, charges have less throw… the JLW is a faster, more precise stick in my opinion.
All Seimitsu, all day. Both cabs were in OK shape, but I put a lot of work into them. The one on the left had a rusted out CP, so I made a replica. The one on the right had a jacked up JAMMA harnes, so I made a sweet new one. I also finally replaced the light in the one on the right…that dark marquee was bugging me.
just wish I could find two original plastic marquee holders that go in the top. Oh , and a pair of the headphone jacks that install under the CP. That would be shit.
Trugoy! Hey, it’s evitagen from ArcadeOtaku! I see you got your clone in… I hope those S-brackets I drilled for you make the joysticks sit at the correct TE-stick/Vewlix height.
So glad to see you got yours in. Is your plexiglass up top almost purple? I peeled that shit off instantly lol I will be putting my own logo and stuff up top… Also the checkered pattern on the control panel light is just an easy to remove sticker as well, which I promptly did.
Didn’t want to start another thread but maybe some of my fellow arcade owners can help me out…My showcase cab seem to have crapped out on me last night…When i turn it on, all i get is a horizontal line in the middle & the rest of the screen is black…I can hear the game being played & the color of the line changes…Any ideas how to fix this?
I didn’t really wanna clog the forum up with a new thread and I think this question belongs in here:
I’m seriously considering building an arcade cabinet, more specifically a vewlix-ish cab. Now, I live in the UK so it’s not like I can order a lovely Kraylix and put one together myself. So I’d like to take a shot at building one OR finding someone in the UK that will at least build a frame for me to sling together. Now I won’t be attempting this for a few months yet, since I sadly lost my job recently, but it’s nice to be prepared. I’m London based so what I’m looking for is any advice on where to go/where to buy/what to do.
