I’d say you make a bigger mistake cause pushing is just retarded at the end, esp since it sounds like you expected him to fold, it doesnt really matter though cause the hand is just a mess from both players.
As for other hands, I think a turn check might have been more prudent here:
Well a standard value bet would be so small that even if the chance of it getting called was 100% and the overbet chance of getting called is 5% the overbet is still the more favourable option
Since a value bet in the region of $3 would be $3 x 100% so expectation for this bet = $3
Whereas over bet = $120 (his stack) x 5% = $6
(Note That said 100% is obv too high and 5% may also be too high a figure but for arguments sake/ simplicity)
Also there is the argument that the pot should’t have been so small by the river which while i agree with, am not taking into account. Even with the pot at a more reasonable size by the river ($20-$30) the above would still apply since 5% figure would be increased for obvious reasons (i.e. he’s showed strength).
Hence push is not “retarded” and totally nonsensical, there is some reasoning behind it. Again i’m not defending what is a poorly played hand, but i still fail to see how i’m making the bigger mistakes.
Also don’t take this as me saying “you should always shove with nuts on river” it’s more about value of overbetting, and won’t usually be such an extreme size of overbet.
Except it’s completely off base since by your own assertions your shove is getting called ~1% of the time not 5%.
As for the AA hand everything was superstandard but I think checking the turn is better for a couple reasons, just a question I had been wondering for a couple days I’d throw out there.
My thought’s weren’t on pot control really, just that’s the perfect card for him to bluff at and raise pf bet flop check turn is a missed c-bet alot, thinking there’s a decent chance he’ll fold the turn if I bet since every draw just got there and the possibility his flop call being a simple float.
so…whats the new way to get around the gambling act or whatever? I used to use neteller but then blew my money on purpose when I heard they can’t do transfers back to US banks…
not too concerned with it tho, Id rather play at casinos than online…but am wondering. =) just incase I feel like dropping some cash on a game or two to stay in practice.
