alright whos the guy who can’t stop limping with kings?
uh every internet player ever?
today sucked btw. i read your blog about your sick variance. mine was like that.
nah one guy in that efnet tourney limped with K-K twice and A-A. He lost 2 outta 3. It was sickening to watch.
Also in that tourney I had K-K x2, Q-Qx2, A-Kx2, A-Qx3, J-Jx2, and 10-10 in the first 2 levels and got 0 action.
Tourneys are for suckers

hey i don’t know how many ppl know this, but “rainkhan” on stars is actually a poster on these forums. he’s a long time marvel player from new york and is a popular sit and go player, but right now he’s at the ft of the 5+rebuys at stars if you wanna rail, i got to go to sleep.
poker is the most retarded shit in the universe.
have you guys read about the SAGE system?? It stands for sit-and-go endgame, IIRC. It teaches you how to play optimally heads up in NL HE sitngo’s and by optimally, I mean making the most +EV plays

i think its a must read for serious players, its not gonna make you daniel negreanu or anything, but it might make you better than danny nguyen
haha the first thing i saw was lee jones’s picture and i immediately thought conspiracy to increase rake.
but yea i’ve heard of sage before and i just read the article, i think the concepts it deals with are very important yes. but it seems to me to be one of these systems (e.g. kill phil) that tries to replace experience and judgement. if you wanna know when to call, decide on your opponents pushing range and adjust your range accordingly. also know what your opponent will call with before you push. that said i don’t see any harm in actually learning and using this system.
i get better at sng endgame by studying with sng power tools, you can find that at sitngo-analyzer.com. basically if you input appropriate ranges for calls/pushes it will do all the equity calculations for you to tell you the ev of a push/call. it costs $80 but it’s the best investment imo. certainly if u don’t understand the concepts it helps you study then i don’t see how you can be a winning sng player.
This needs a big bump. Anyway, anyone getting or have Stacked with Daniel Negreanu? Planning on getting the PS2 version, since:
-XBox version has no Custom Soundtrack. (Well mainly, since the game has no music in gameplay, from what I heard.)
-I have online on the PS2.
And I wonder if this game features 4 color deck mode?
I don’t really see the appeal of playing poker on a console. Could be fun if you’re new to the game and just wanna learn with no money involved, but its poker with no money involved at the end of the day which is boring.
If you want to play for free, you can always do that online at a site like PokerStars and just play the free games. The allure of Stacked was that it was going to use the Poki Poker Academy program which would (over time) start to understand your style and start to play optimally against you. The problem is, early reports I’ve seen from poker forums seem to believe that that’s not the case.
Also, just a note to all my fellow grinders out there. WPX or www.worldpokerexchange.com is where I’ve been playing the past couple days. If you’re playing lower limits like me, the rake takes a gigantic chunk out of your earn rate, more than bonuses give back. See the second chart here for details:
http://www.headsupclub.com/aprock/2006/05/the-cost-of-the-rake-2/
According to his math at 1/2 through 3/6 you lose about 3-4 BB/100 to the rake. And that’s on a best case scenario. On more punitive networks like the Poker Room network, you lose north of 5 BB/100 to the rake. Meaning that you have to be almost crushing the game just to break even. The bonus only gives back 2-2.5 BB/100, meaning you’re still feeding the network huge. If you’re playing shorthanded it’s even worse. 5max players on PR network pay almost EIGHT BB/100 to the network. No wonder it always seems like nobody wins at Poker Room, the rake is sucking all the winnings away!
But anyways, on WPX they give 100% rakeback. I played about 4-5 hours of 2/4 and 3/6 (3 tables) over the past couple days. In that time, I got about $180 in rakeback. Like I said, this is better than any bonus I’ve seen since the old 5x Party days. Screenshot of rakeback after 13 table hours: http://img430.imageshack.us/img430/7328/rake2dt.jpg
No links to click on or anything, I don’t think they even have an affiliate program. But yeah, if you’re playing low limit, you HAVE to be playing there. Even though the tables are a little harder, they aren’t 4-5 BB/100 harder.
