They sort of made legendaries more common in the anime. I believe they showed that Lugia can breed in the anime. In DP, iirc there were random people with Heatrans and the unodostres birds and stuff.

Yeah, I heard about the hax trainer of lame. I swear the writers were simply going “oh fuck, we’ve dragged this shit on so long we forgot they’re gonna want us to move on to the new region! There’s not enough time! What do we do?!?!?” and so they just up and decided to bring someone along that butchers him so hord it’s not even funny. I mean, seriously, the last gen took 'em across two regions in the time they did one here. That’s a lot of fucking filler. 
Maybe if they hadn’t taken a good year hiatus between badges, they wouldn’t have had to rush the rest.
