it lets you set up pokemon and battle online without going through any of the in game stuff, it’s a hell of a lot faster. Check shoddy battle in google, it’ll probably point you in the right direction.

Mindfucking people is the most fun part in the game. I fucked up a lot of people with my team of 5 choice banded metagrosses and 1 blissey. People see metagross at the start, I pick explosion. The counter they sent went kaboom.
Then the replies come “WTF another metagross” "WTFWTF yet ANOTHER metagross?!"

stun spore, sleep powder, agility, baton pass compound eyes venonat is hilarious and has the potential to cripple half of the opponents team as long as they don’t have/lead with a taunter. It’s pretty funny, I highly recommend it for all your trolling need.
Most of my best teams were generally based around a theme or gimmick. My Baton Pass and Trick Room teams come to mind. I still really liked setting up Flail Gyarados though.
Yeah, I generally like to think of a pokemon I’d like to use, a way I’d like to use it, then set up the rest of the team to shore up its weakness/enable it. Flailers are often pretty fun, just gotta watch out for priority moves and weather.

it’s pretty simple to set up, if someone wants to run it, all we need is something to generate the brackets each week(seeing as this is an FG community I’m sure someone know how to use something to randomize a bracket). The hardest part is deciding the draft order, at my school we base it off previous records, with the order being, people with bad records pick first, then people who are new, then everyone else, then the top 8 from the previous year(regardless of record). It’s probably a lot funner to do it on IRC or something with a time limit on picks, that way people don’t get a ton of time to research every pick, but that’s a lot more viable when we are all in the same room doing it.
As a random note we do it on battle revolution so we can see which 6 pokemon the other team has before picking our lead, which i think is also interesting, you see lots more variety in leads that way, rather than just knowing ‘hey he’s got a pretty good lead, it’ll probably show up every time he fights’. We’ve done it 6 times now, it’s a ton of fun.
Yeah if there is a IRC channel for pokemon of if someone could make one that would be cool.
I dunno about doing on Pokemon BR everyone might not have it. so that may be out.

we had a trading system but it almost never got used.
Rules we have, or have tried:
Trading: You can trade anything on your team for a single pokemon on another persons team but you can only trade once(or once every time period) this is mainly to stop abuse. The only problem with trading is people can be douche bags and grab picks for eachother(IE I’m first in the draft but I know the thing I want will likely not be picked in the first round, so I make a deal with last pick that if he grabs my pokemon I’ll get what he wants). We’ve limited that by restricting it so you can’t trade the first X round picks.
Free agency: Anything that doesn’t get picked goes to the free agency. someone keeps track of it, you can trade your pokemon out for one of the free agency pokemon, this is also limited to stop abuse, and if multiple people want the same pokemon they get priority based on the order of the draft list.
free pick: you pick 9 pokemon like normal, and the 10th is anything you want it to be. I actually don’t like this rule, it’s meant so people don’t build holes into their team that make them unable to compete( like "OMG half my team is weak to fire and I ahve no resist and I didn’t notice until it was too late). But what ends up happening is 5 lucarios and 4 weaviles, and a few gengars.
ReDraft clause: you cannot pick anything you picked in a previous league in the first 2 rounds(we kept having a couple people have almost identical teams from year to year).
We can add or use whatever ideas we like though, we’ve done 6 so we’ve tuned it quite a bit to make it work, but there are lots of valid reason to use or not use each of the rules.
As for PBR, I wasn’t really suggest using it, but if we were to play over shoddy maybe have a system where you have to tell the opponent which 6 you are using before the match. Though we could try it without that(I just think that’ll lead to less customized/interesting leads).

I really like the ReDraft clause. keeps people from whoring top tier pokes. I think it should be once you use a pokemon you CANNOT use it next season period (helps people get out of their poke comfort zone)
I dont care for free agency too much. It defeats the point of being stuck with 10 pokemon (4 more than you NEED to build a team) maybe 1 or 2 free pick trades per season. maybe more if you are in the bottom of the rankings.
Instead of the Free Pick clause you should have a Mulligan for the people with the lowest scores after a few weeks they should be allowed to drop 3 pokemon on there team for 3 free agents. I think that would help people who made bad choices without letting them abusing the system and making them have to pay for bad team organization (A key element in pokemon) from the get go.
Hopefully we can get this started soon, im actually pretty hype… Think anyone on Willvo would be interested?
the free agency has turned out alright in my experience, it lets people shore up wholes, but often with very sub par pokemon. In all honesty trading and the free agency rarely get used in the ones I’ve been in, although free agency always see’s a little bit of use. I could post it up on willvo tomorrow and see if anyone is interested, or you can feel free to if you’d like.
Also free agency pick is limited to before the first week. This matters a lot more in our league since you generally get a few months to build your team(we use all in game pokes, no hacks), so if you think of something in that month or 2 you can still trade it in the free agency. If we used the DS games over shoddy this could be implemented.

Bounce Gyarados is actually seen sometimes than not now. I wish he got Bounce in ADV, instead of having to breed for HP Flying.
Not hard, though it probably is now. There’s always the TRU ones, and there was a mini event in everyone’s D/P that allowed you to get a legit Shaymin sometime back.
