one thing i always was wondering is that why does everyone seem to run physical lucarios? there’s way more physical tanks in OU than there are special tanks it seems and only special tank you really need to worry about is blissey. same thing with physical electivires
You have access to Swords Dance, and Calm Mind doesn’t cut it for a boost, then you have two priority moves for physical instead of one for Special. Then Physical is just a lot more dominant this generation.
I really didn’t think people still used Electivire any more, even then I used a Mix Electivire since I thought it was pretty bad back then, but I used it because it was good at the time.
And if I threw a rock at someone, it should always be a critical hit. It’s a rock, what more reason do you need?

yeah people don’t really use electivire anymore but i was using him as an example. i used to be one of the ones who used physical lucario as well but i tried a special based luc. specs luc actually served me kinda well and it was interesting playing him. because of his typing, you can actually switch him in to a lot of attacks and sweep with aura sphere which never misses mid-late game when all of his counters have been weakened and has access to a stab priority move whereas a physical based lucario is best (imo at least) for early-mid game sweeping after SD boost and breaking walls.
then there’s the surprise factor of playing special based lucario in which people think you’re running a physical based lucario.

Because a +2 physical sweeper hits hard enough to get past those physical walls, contrary to what happens with the special side. Even a +2 special attacker gets walled by blissey. The lack of a blissey counterpart for the physical side is what makes the OU tier so attack oriented. Choice Specs Stab Super Effective Aura Sphere from modest max spattack Lucario barely 3HKOs Blissey. So you get the idea. That’s why a lot of strats consists on exploding on Blissey so you will get an opening for another special sweeper. Ex. Heatran, Magnezone, Azelf or Gengar exploding on Blissey so that it will guarantee a SubPetaya Empoleon or a Sub LO Heatran a sweep.
Physical Evire?.. lol Even a LO max attack adamant Ice punch from Evire won’t 2HKO Hippodown. The same Evire fails to 3HKO Swampert with EQ (strongest move it has against him).
On the Rock accuracy moves: The thing is that Rock hits super effectively a LOT of types so it makes it “even” for it not to have a 100% accurate move (think of how many things get fucked up by SR)
this is why i think electivire sucks and should be UU at best. electric has terrible type coverage so it can’t even take advantage of its 123 base physical attack and 85 base special attack often. without a motor drive boost, a lot of moves that other pokemon have that can ohko turns into 2 or even 3hko’s. without a motor drive boost he’s basically useless imo. gotta take a lot of risks and prediction to use him.
another one i think that should be UU is weavile. the only good thing about weavile is revenge killing. not even that great of a lead nowadays thanks to all the swamperts, lead apes and forretresses.
Weavile just received a little boost on Low Kick. He is not that usable (hard to switch in, SR weak, more importantly Scizor weak) but he would be better than Honchkrow in UU because he has access to SD. Just get rid of the opponent steel and Weavile can sweep with SD. But yeah, he is just a good revenge killer
but overall though i think the tiers are pretty good. i’m not some expert by any means whatsoever just basing my thoughts on my experience with various pokemon and teams.

Vire has seen his usage go down in OU, but in UU I dunno. It’ll be the same way when people thought Aerodactyl was UU, it’s possible he’ll dominate that area of the metagame. In UU, he won’t have to worry about his major counters being Swampert, Hippowdon, Cresselia, Bronzong, etc.
123 ATK base is nothing to laugh at, matter fact it’s only 2 pts shy of a Gyarados. However, this goes without saying that Vire’s counters are that much of a threat. Vire doesn’t soley need to depend on STAB to take out pokemon, because most of his atks are at a high base and chances are it’ll be super effective (vire can hit super effective 13 outta 17 different types of pokemon). If Vire ever went UU, I’d expect a huge increase of spiritomb and dugtrio. At this point, I think smogon should move him to BL, he’s not a pure beast in OU but could prove to be too much for UU.
Speaking of which, I don’t even see Lucarios anymore. Pokemon with really bad defenses teem to be unfavored now (if they’re a sweeper), not unless the pokemon is just a pure force like Salamence. Lucario is OU for the simple fact that it’s powerful and unpredictable, pretty much like Gengar. It’s gonna take a few turns to realize what kind of Lucario people are running. Dragonite will probably go to UU again seeing how every dragon learns Outrage now (and Latias is OU), however his own version of Outrage spells doom for a lot of UU pokemon. Even without a DD, Dragonite can wreak havoc there.

I fully intend on bringing Metapod to the finals this year, and I think I may have already gotten further with a Pokemon than anyone just by making it to Round Three. dd dragonite would be a serious force in UU with extremespeed. assuming you’re running the offensive dd set with max attack evs and adamant nature, dragonite reaches 785 attack with one dd boost and life orb…enough to either ohko or severely dent anything not resistant to it. yeah nite is pretty much staying OU thanks to his new buff lol. also has priority and is a great secondary move for when you don’t want to lock yourself into outrage too early. steels would still wall this set so you’d most likely have to sacrifice earthquake for extremespeed for OU. set could stay the same in UU just replacing fire blast/fire punch with extremespeed.
it’s really a great move for dragonite as it’s one (maybe the only thing?) that he now has over salamence.

I accidently saved my game after I caught it, so I can’t restart for better stats. Now, lets talk about this things hidden power. I dunno what the hell it is, seriously. Usually if I wanna know someone’s HP, I HP a random geodude because he’s weak to everything. Then, I just narrow it down from there.
So, I did. And nothing was super effective/not effective. So, I can already figure out that it isn’t Ice/Water/Grass/Fighting/Ground/Steel/Fire/Rock/Flying/Electric/Poison. You know, this is bullshit because if it can’t hit a geodude super effective then obviously this HP is gonna suck. Now, maybe it’s dragon…right? I HP’d a random gible, nothing.
So what the fuck here? It’s not even Dragon, in which I was hoping it at least was because Ubers are so dragon dominated. The only thing I can think of that’s left is Psychic, Ghost, and Dark. HP Dark? Bullshit.
Why have HP psychic when it learns psychic? Bullshit. HP Ghost can scare away Darkrai, but it still sucks and has absolutely zero priority.
So yea, my Sky Shymin sucks. Looks like imma have to put subs on it…

I don’t even have Platinum, so I definitely want to pick up Soul Silver when it comes out. Silver because it’s what I got when I was a kid because everyone else was getting gold.
