Well, I feel as if that gives me a reason to make another team.
I’m thinking of going online for some battles… :wonder:
rock polish/scarfed rhyperiors are fun in gravity
Officially, Gravity lowers the evasion of everybody on the field by 2 stages.
Since Evasion/Accuracy works in a 3/3 situation (as opposed to every other stats’ 2/2 maths), attacks will have 167% their regular accuracy (Zap Cannon becomes 83% accurate for example) under Gravity.
so i decided to finally try shoddybattle a couple days ago. I’ve destroyed nearly all my oppositon, and am ranked in the top 60 already with hardly any losses and victories against about half of the people in the top 10 >=).
I do think wifi is a bit more fun, and im still not really used to the no animation thing so i miss vital information at times. also, wifi battles seem a lot more intense and i care a lot more about the outciome. AND i get to walk around the house pacing and shouting with my ds which is a DEFINITE plus.
another problem i have with shoddy is that it (unintentionally) lets you know how long it’s taking your opponent to select a move, which lets you make an educated guess on whether they’re in a predicament or not. having voice chat enabled on wifi is even worse though, when you can hear how many button presses your opponent makes, telling you if theyre switching or not, heh.
being able to randomly find an opponent is addictive though, and was sorely needed in the DS version =(
anyone up for a match now? ill get on and host for a lil bit
I’m probably gonna start using shoddy more often for some extra practice. I still freakin’ hate the interface and lack of animations, though the lightning fast speed is a definite plus.
Anyway, I’m getting on for a while.
Travis, you can’t beat Maginfico? I just did - step yo’ game up! :arazz:
gg Magnifico. I dont mean to sound like a cocky bastard but anytime I can make a cheap shot at Travis I will.
about shoddy
^ the thing is that just as youve already said its faster than the 30-40 mins that a normal wifi battle take. Second of all, it gives you freedom to use whatever poke you want with the exact moves/IVs/EVs you want. Instead of breeding, EV training and stuff (which is somewhat the “fun” of the game but when trying new teams it takes ages to summon all the pokes you want).
Yes, the lack of animation is a downer but its what also speeds the battle. Leftovers animation has driven me crazy all the time not to mention the few DCs (yes, the server sometimes crashes, like twice a day) So, i guess overall id rather go on shoddy.
EDIT: what are your Shoddy nicknames btw? Mine is locoghoul (go figure)
gg guru and seiken. doubleheader beating!
GG Mag. Goddamn, that game was intense. You didn’t give me a single second to breathe, and I just barely scraped up the win.
That’s my third win in a row against you. All with the same team, too.
So, I’m thinking of anyone that can abuse the evasion modifier of gravity, right now I only have Ryhperior. To set up Gravity, I have Blissey, Jirachi, Clefable, Probopass, and Dusknoir that can learn it. Probopass it already out. Blissey is Blissey sooo… yeah… Clefable could work, just that Blissey is generally better, but Clefable has the benefit of magic guard. I just love Jirachi, but I don’t like the ground weakness. Dusknoir, I don’t know about him, I’ve never used him.
I lol’d so much at this…
I still dislike shoddy as it’s just odd for me and doesn’t have the whole real pkmn feeling I get from WiFi…I mean yes battles are fast but…I was never about rushing through battles in pkmn…I take my time and treat it like a game of chess. you rush and no doubt you’ll probably lose…
shoddy is there for me to build a team and see its stats before making it for WiFi…
Clefable for awesome stuff and ability to attack
possibly also dusknoir for some accurate status afterwards
Swampert/mamoswine/gliscor/dugtrio/garchomp could all be viable to benefit eq hitting stuff and stone edge
aerodactyl/rampardos also for SE
guts machamp for more accurate cross chop/se as well
some awesome SP attack (pick one)
stone edge? pssh. HEAD SMASH!!!
I’m turned off by that recoil…man…would have been sweet or aggron or steelix to get head smash…still Relicath is the only pkmn to get non recoil STAB head smash…
Fuzzy - Clefable man…thing learns a LOT of movess and can benefit from using moves with accurate attacks like say Thunder and fire blasts…and add life orb to it…muahahaha
forgot about that, oooooh to have rock head on rampardos
Dugtrio would be fun for revenge killing anything now, but I just don’t like him.
Garchomp would be really annoying for EQ.
I think Mahcamp could also work, but if I had guts, then Close Combat would would be still a better choice, but Cross Chop has a high critical hit rate.
A Mamoswine taking advantage of Gravity to use Blizzard would be funny to take down physical walls.
Clefable vs. Blissey, still deciding, Blissey takes a hit better, Clefable has a great ability, and still can attack.
Now I need a Sp. Attacker.
add to clef vs bliss…clefable is unaffected by SS and Hail…if that helps…
Gardevoir or ninetales for status plus sweeping power
Thats the “Clefable has a great ability” part of Clefables side.
