I quit Tekken as well. Way before Marvel 3. Feels so good to stop playing a game you absolutely fucking hate. That last sentence applies to Tekken 6, not Marvel 3. I like Marvel 3 a lot. I just don’t have the time to divide up between all these fighters. I’m trying to figure out how I’m gonna add Skullgirls to the mix.
I’m this close to saying fuck fighting games. Only because so many gdlk games are coming out that I want to play, and my backlog is getting larger and larger. I want to finish Rayman Origins, I want to get back into Uncharted 3 Online regularly, I want to get back into Modnation Racers regularly, I want to finish Robin’s, Nightwing’s, and Catwoman’s missions in Batman: Arkham Asylum, I want to finish Trine 2, I want to play Twisted Metal online, I want to finish WipeOut, I want to actually start Dead Nation, I want to finish Hard Corp: Uprising, I want to play Outland Co-Op, I want to start Rogue Galaxy and like 80 other PS2/PS3 games… and I can’t because all my gaming time is going toward fighting games.
So many games, not enough time.

Edit: New SSX is the Marvel 3 of SSX. It’s good fun but man you sure to magnetize to rails and not crashing is so fucking easy. Physics are hilarious to.
Yeah. It’s easy to not crash but, It’s soooooooo niiice. I just wish for some “tricky” like levels. Mounatins all the time can get a lil meh. But I mean, I can jump off ANYTHING. They weren’t lying.

I heard that new mechanics are ass in classic controls and the tutorials don’t even carry over if you switch to classic. Muscle memory would definitely be intact but I kind of want to learn the new controls for some reason. Also, still haven’t touched game besides that late night tutorial. Planned on settling in with it last night but ended up going to some locals to get my KoF game back semi-decent for FR.
Why do you hate Tekken? Were you not able to travel like you wanted and had to resort to playing online? Cuz that’d make me not play it all. A few of us put a deal of time into Tekken, DR and 6. Besides minor stuff, I can say that the two things I hated were MLG turnout and last year’s Evo. MLG was the dedicated Tekken MAJOR that people were saying they wanted. Ok then, how come for 13 stacks it barely got over 80 people? Fucking SF tourneys get 100+ entrants for $500 onward. My broke ass hit up 3 of them. There was no excuse. And about the Evo, I hated that Bob and Law shit. It like…really fucked with outsiders opinions of the game. Tekken majors before it had a better representation of characters WITH more high level players imo. And for Evo niggas wanna lame it out like that? Shit was stale to watch too. Then certain players getting randomed out and shit. It was ugly.
I’m thinking FR is gonna be my last hurrah as far as serious competitive fgs. I’m not even in sharp shape now, but going to support a few of my boys, kick it with cats I hadn’t seen in a minute, and see how far I get with gimmicks. Only entering SCIV/KoF XIII/ T6. Been playing a bit of Calibur so we’ll see how I do in that before “little girl tier” dominates. Just now touching KoF again trying to get my hands back. Tekken is going to be so nasty though because it’s been a looooooooong time since I been on that. We popped it in yesterday and I was blocking with X and forgetting how much SS sucks in that game lol. After this I’m done besides every blue moon casuals. I’m not trying to keep up with the OVERSATURATION of fgs this generation. And 90% of them are straight ass anyway. I’m trying to go to my grave without ever playing SF x T. I always wished we had a dedicated VF scene here so I’ll fucks with FS when we can finally get our hands on that. I learned 4Evo and 5 ver. B for no damn reason. And I guess I’m fated to play re-release of GGXXAC when it drops. This city is a OG competitive GG scene so I’m kinda obligated to run my ghetto Johnny again. That’s pretty much it on my radar though. TTT2 is obvious whenever it drops. But I cant say I will play any of those seriously or travel anymore. Those are just the ones I could stand to TOUCH. Capcom shit this gen makes my flesh crawl. And I cant stand to play online. If I have to resort to that Id rather not play.
As for other games, you’re stressing yourself. My head explodes if I have 3 games in my backlog so my solution was not to even start anything anymore. Or I’ll finish main story and never get around to extras before I sell the game or whatever. Me and you DO HOWEVER need to squad up and finish Hard Corps though. Now that’s still on my to do list. But I got rid of UC3 because I couldnt bring myself to finish it, and I ran so much online in the beta that couldnt dedicate time to the actual game when it dropped. And they’re still sending my ass Fortune Hunter Club stuff lol.
Frankly, I desire to be one of those guys who only plays ONE game. I don’t have the time anymore to keep up. I had already planned on that one game being SSX, at least for a good while. SSX3 was my most played game on PS2 by far. This SSX may have been dumbed down a bit, but it’s still going to be that stress reliever at the end of the day. If I can get halfway creative and chop up with a few new cats as well as maintain with old SSX scene again, that’s all I really need right now. Because these newer games don’t appeal to me and they’re going to keep churning out fgs and dumbing them down until we’re eventually fighting with just the stick and one button. I hate this gen.
I think just tricking is really similar to Tricky in the fact that it’s now seems more effective to flip than to string moves (like you would in 3). it’s easier to not crash since you can ride it all but scores will obviously be higher thanks to trick ability.

Getting decent/good at FGs is a pain in the ass. I too have thought about just falling back to new player skill level and start playing the other games I want. Unlike my earlier years, I don’t have it in me as much to drill in training mode all day. And of course more FGs coming out doesn’t help. Getting into Tag 2 won’t be that hard but VF 5 FS? And then GG XX is coming back too. Hell I even want to get down MK9. But dividing time between: GGXXAC/KOF XIII/VF5 FS/Tag 2/MK9+my gaming backlog is crazy. I want to get higher scores in Batman AC in challenge mode. I want to beast in Vanquish and Bayonetta. DMC HD collection is coming out too. I mean if I didn’t care about working out and studying, then yeah I would have more time to game but I’m not stupid enough to do that.
Shout outs to Platinum Games for MGR and Anarchy Reigns. Why do I need sleep?
There’s so much sad truth to this.
When it comes to playing new FGs and practicing them I just limit myself and I guess I’m lucky that there’s not a whole lot I’m interested in practicing right now. I play UMvC3 pretty often with friends and at a weekly FG gathering in my city but right now as far as practice goes I’m mostly putting time into KoFXIII with a dash of SCV now and then. I quit playing SF4 a long time ago and I couldn’t get into MK9.
I’m probably one of the few in here looking forward to SFxT (Poison/King baby) so I’m going to have a go at that too.
