you know whats good about this guy? its how much he thinks he does for video games. right now, on skype or facebook, i can get producers, marketing, and developers that cover some of the major companies in the video game industry, and i guarantee almost none of them have heard about this guy. lets not be delusional. 10k subscribers is good, but its not even viral. 10k isn’t even a legitimate sales variant. 10k is barely a worthy internet petition.
i can also say, i’ve watched his videos before and i usually turn them off the second he starts talking about something i know is wrong. I’m in alot of conversations about some of the very things he talks about, and i know when he’s wrong. its because he isn’t a reporter. thats fine. he grabs others people works and investigations and talks about them. he’s like the coupon collector the runs out and tells everyone about new deals! but its obvious that he’s going off of what other people say exclusively, and is more conspiracy than investigative journalist.
now, i can’t really go out and out people/contacts, as that would cause a bunch of issues (i already ride a slippery slope on that) so lets isolate the issue to fighting games, since i’m sure everyone can relate.
go find someone on srk. message them. as if they have heard about “THE MAIN EVENT”. take a 100 person sample size. how many would you guess have heard of this guy? 1 or 2? how many would you guess have watched multiple videos of him or commented to him? if you get lucky, maybe 1? imagine each person of the fighting game is a single developer, producer, tester, marketer, president of a company…
no one knows who he is, so how can he have any serious impact? he “stood up” for fighting game fans, but to who? fox news? does fox news know who this guy is? adjust that sample size again. he defended fighting games fans on youtube to 10k people who aren’t in the positions he is defending people from? half of america is ignored by fox news, i’m pretty sure a lower mid-level youtube star is pretty low on the influence scale.
its a tree that falls in the woods. its a loud tree that can be heard. but i don’t live in the forest, and trees fall all the time. it has no impact on me as a person, so if i never really care that a tree fell, in my mind, did it fall? who cares.
but that tree will talk about how he fell down and killed a hunter to save a bunch of orphan bunny rabbits, regardless if it happened or not.
so. i know he’s wrong. all of his sources are from the internet. no one knows who he is. i’m sure in his mind, he’s important. but the funniest thing to me is that delusion is his main argument for everything. if he had any journalistic integrity, he’d realize the fallacy is using that as an argument. getting it done in one take doesn’t give you outs. putting yourself out there (validating ego) doesn’t create instant leeway for being wrong. or making up stuff. or ranting about issues you have no inside knowledge on.

Thats honestly my gripe because Megaman needs a long break from limelight and putting in Zero and Tronne was a good idea when MvC3 was made. Zero to me embodies a little of Megaman so whats the problem?
