actually that was the whole point of why Angry Joe even made his video. Killian was saying “safe shit” and dodged the questions instead of giving an actual, factual answer.
it’s like people never had or dealt with people in customer service or something. you should know that guys in those positions will never give you a straight answer when it’s their lively-hoods on the line. the point should be instead, why is AJ asking a question like that then honestly expecting a real answer? you don’t have to be herman cain to know people at game companies are going to beat around the bush when it comes to certain “PR” questions.
I will say, I may not agree with maybe 5% of the stuff he comments on but I want to know when a company is on bullshit and I, as a consumer, would always want to be informed of what’s really going on with companies and the products I buy or may buy. His passion is what keeps me watching all of his shows (especially the sports ones and I never been a Philly-team fan) so at the end of the day, this guy is doing it right and all of the people who can’t stomach how he handle things then just stay away from it. it’s not that hard, and yet people would rather either trash him behind his back (online) or troll his videos. ugh, it’s just silly.
He hates DmC. So what? so does a ton of other people. still gets flack for it.
he hates DLC. So what? silly people still buy it. he just points it out.
He hates MvsC3/U. So what? I do too. $40 game with 2, $10 characters, and $20+ in costume packs. fuck that. another game is more than likely in the works and we all know it, but people clown him for not backing up Vcharts claim that UMvC3 flopped.
I think people can stomach it and don’t mind someone calling companies on bullshit BUT again there are times where i kinda a little hazy on some things he throws out their. Put it to you this way, his comments on the fighting game community puts him in the position of someone who’s not really that informed about the community and thats worrisome.
ok, I’ll give you that. he once was involved but he said in the newest vid that he’s not, but that was more about tourneys and not fighting game communities. he’s all about communities as a whole, just not only fighters. Hell, he got hyped over the Norcal tourney in Cathrine’s 2p mode.
yet, he’s always showing vids on arcades, tourneys, and just communities like what SCOTT POPULAR has been doing lately. IMO, that doesn’t come off as uninformed when he was showing vids of tourneys being held in South Africa and it was of the major titles and not just SSBM. he’s actually schooling people on stuff.
Just like the vid about the physically impaired still able to play video games with just their eyes using a modded 360 kinect and surgeons using the kinect for practicing surgery. I don’t see people on here talking about stuff like that.
I just wish he would slow and figure out what he’s going to say before he says it. He rants too much and it ends up with repeating himself a lot…loudly…and really fast.
Yes, the loudness and blinding speed of his speech bother me lol.
it’s the one people just watched on the this page (or last page).
actually, it was an idea that a yt member (I guess around the 25 minute mark) sent him about judging gamers more than just win/lose but including something like if it was an boxing match [judging on execution, style, ect]… he [MEtv] thought it would be a good idea, but even I can’t cosign on it totally because the idea isn’t crystal clear and I personally can’t see people like Wiz incorporating something like that into EVO. it’s a stretch/good idea based on whoever is viewing it.
lol Final Fantasy Ecks. Final Fantasy Ecks Two. Made me chuckle.
Super Time Force looks cool
Tournament thing isn’t around the 10 min mark. Can’t find it. I’ll try and watch it tomorrow.
Anyway reading what you posted on the system, I see where he’s coming from (Or the poster) but no…just…keep that point, judging shit out of, Fighting games don’t need that crap, they have a simple to understand system for winning. Knock the other guy out first. It doesn’t need to evolve beyond that. It’s just complicating something that works for no real reason at all.
Ah found it…its at the 27 min mark lol.
This would be incredibly complicated based on how different every type of fighter is. Judges would have to be people who know the ins an outs of each game hosted at an event, which bars them from playing in the event. It also opens up the tournament to favoritism based on judging and all sorts of other issues. It over complicates a system that works, and is hard enough to get done (A tournament) in a timely manner as is. Evo is 3 days long and its a struggle to get every game done. Can you imagine having to toss in judging based on style, knowledge, so on and so fourth. Talk about a wrench in the gears.
If the guy in Phoenix really does try it and some how manages to make it work then Hell I was wrong…But damn I don’t see it being feasible, nor worth the effort. Can you imagine losing points cuz you didn’t do a big combo and instead of played tight footsies…I dunno…Seems like a can of worms to me.
what would a “good” journalist do: treat speculation as truth, lecture company that doesn’t care about him, invent reasons to validate his rant (fumito was bored of sony), or simply report it as rumor, and that you don’t know what really happened?
youtube is a quirky monster sometimes. i understand that personality and brash/loud will make you stand out more. but he is basically gametab’ing with ignorance. face value opinions without actual knowledge. taking the few outspoken of his limited amount of viewers opinions and running with them as truth. I’d like to see if he has contacts or industry connections, because its pretty apparent he hasn’t done any industry work or understands how the industry functions. and you can be as loud and boisterous as you want, he can’t hide the fact that he tends to argue from the angle of “bewildered angry internet guy”.
It would be too easy to pick out flaws in his statements, because that’s what happens when you rant. i can relate to making a bold statement to catch a few more eyes and views. i understand the need to make your voice heard regardless of what you’re actually talking about.
the fighting game tournament example is a good example of talking about things you don’t know about. i’ve been running tournaments since 2001. majors since 2004. you have no idea how unrealistic that idea is. there is 0 validity in this claim and the resources needed are nonsensical. the chances alone at people being able to openly fix tournaments is reason enough for that to rank high on the “i don’t know what i’m talking about” meter.
but that’s because i’ve done tournaments. i also have worked in the industry for 6-7 years. i know when someone doesn’t know what they are talking about because i see it everyday about companies i work for. i also know that some of them do worse than you could ever imagine as well, so… i’ll be the first to tell you that internet speculation is mostly overblown. you always have to filter on to comb through to the truth. this guy opens up gametab with an agenda, and its not a matter of balls to do what he does (which more or less seems like attention whoring, since he isn’t really doing any of the research or contacting companies himself). unless being blatantly ignorant about issues was his intentions, then i imagine that is pretty bold of him.
Well, I guess it wasn’t really a surprise since he was in this trailer, but damn that was a hilarious moment for me when I met up with the immortal Mr. Reynolds… this game has thoroughly entertained me from beginning to end…anyway, this trailer shows him and many other craziness in the game:
Awesomeness. (*sidenote-- my character “Destro” was using the british accent when he said the line, which was much better than how the Male Voice #1 says it here in the vid)
How glitchy is the game this time around? I remmeber you had the video from SR2 where the dude thought he was on fire and rolling around and screaming.
