The Official PLAYSTATION® Thread: E3 - PS4 Pro November 10th $399

Grazie, Geese.

You KNOW I dl’d that Godhand and Odin Sphere, too.

And I still have the disk for Odin Sphere, no less.

I also got GrimGrim, and Maximo because I never beat it.

My backlog reads like the tomes of required texts needed to write term papers, two weeks prior to semester’s end.

I still haven’t put GT5 into my system - it only has the cellophane off.

Bayonetta CE guide = Check.
Killzone 2 CE guide = Check.
Killzone 3 CE guide = Check.
Dark Souls CE (Hardcover) guide = Check.

They’re so beautiful…

Hahaha…mine too.
I have a backlog for all my systems.
Sales man…they rock me.

Arkham Asylum was a great game, minus the boss fights. I might actually re-buy the GOTY version because I gave my OG copy to my cousin a long time ago, and it deserves a spot on my shelf.
I though all the scenes with Scarecrow were great.

Arkham City is a bigger better game. It’s open world with main story+ all kinds of side missions. Shit the Riddler challenges could be a puzzle game all of it’s own. I played the game for 7 hours straight last night, and will put in a marathon session tonight as well. Catwoman is fun to play with as well. The game has so much good shit in it, it is a damn shame other developers don’t have time or passion to make quality licensed games. Captain America was a good game, but is light years behind Rock Steady’s Batman games in polish.

So I just left wal mart with my cousin and I picked up dead space 2. I couldn’t decide between dark souls and heavy rain.

Dark Souls isn’t for someone who isn’t into fairy tale rpgs right? It looks good but would i like it?

Dark Souls is as far as you can get from a fairy tale, I imagine. You are not ever saving a princess.
Heavy Rain is a good game experience, but only to be played once, or once every 2 years. It is more of an interactive movie.

If you don’t mind a hard game, you can enjoy Dark Souls. It is an action RPG.

add me bitch.

I’m the type of indecisive gamer that will browse SRK, gametrailers and gamefaqs all day. Then get to the store, call a friend and watch youtube videos on my phone of people playing the game because I absolutely can NOT decide on what game to get.

I sat in Wal Mart almost 20 minutes:

Sly Cooper Collection - NO (I realized I havent even finished several other PS2 titles so I need to finish those first, and for some reason I’ve played the second one, but not the first or third.)

Dead Rising 2 - NO (Not a fan of the brain-dead zombies and the games looks a little comical)

Little Big Planet 2 - UNSURE

X-men Destiny - NO. lol @ the horrible reviews

Heavy Rain - UNSURE /// I wasnt sure if the game was going to be worth a second play through, loved the demo however

So I ended up settling on Dead Space 2 because I also loved that demo and the game also got rave reviews, and I love a good scary 1st person.

I started to get Archam City, but I never finished AA. AND I was never a DC fan, in fact I sort of despise DC and their mantra of do-gooder superheroes. I still wanted to play it but felt like I might be missing out. I really thought about Dark Souls tho, I like the idea of dozens of weapons and magic spells and armors and grinding to make uber powerful characters, but I felt like the setting was a re-hash of so many other nameless RPGs, and I’m not a big RPS person.

How is the fight engine? I might need to watch some more youtube videos, I just cant find any that really show what the game is about.

The fight engine is one of the best things about the game. Did you play Demon’s Souls? It plays exactly like that game, but some mechanics are different because it is open world, whereas Demon had a hub world.
I thought Walmart gives you Arkham Asylum for free with Arkham City, some twinpack or something.
Arkham City is fucking dope, I’m 10 hours in and love a lot of it. I don’t like pressing X to run though.

Dark Souls is great too, but I put it to the side because more manageable games are coming out for me. It took me 6 weeks to beat Demon’s Souls, 60 hours or so. I think Dark Souls will take about the same or more. I don’t want it to hog all my time right now.
Arkham City now
Battlefield 3 next week
Uncharted 3 shipped to me next week.
LOTR:War in the North after that

I will still squeeze some time in Dark Souls, but it won’t be a focus until November/December

So I should pick it up on my way to work tomorrow huh? Never played Demon Souls, the part about random people coming into your game to kill you for XP kinda freaked me out.

RPGs also have a notorious “clunky” fight engine, but like I said Demon Souls looked pretty good and SRK was so hype about it so why not.

I also have a full plate since I bought a PS2 about a month and a half ago on top of getting a second job where I just spend my second check on videogames now so I’m working on:

-Metal Gear Solid 3
-Dead Island
-Onimusha Dawn of Dreams
-Okami

In between that I’m still playing Marvel and getting ready for that. Next month Ultimate is going to completely consume my life force and now Soul Calibur 5 is slated for a JANUARY release? lol.

And I just bought Dead Space 2 about 2 hours ago its sitting here staring at me as I type this message.

Some games that I want but im just not completely sold on:
-No More Heroes
-Catherine
-Blazblue CS

Demon’s Souls you can only be invaded if you are in your body form, which a lot of the time you will not be. When you die you come back in soul form, and you stay in that for unless you beat a boss or use a certain item. I got invaded less than 5 times because I would just stay in soul form to avoid it, and even if I was in body I would die sometimes anyway.

I would say Demon’s Souls for $20 is a better value than Dark Souls at $60. Buy Demon’s now and get Dark later if you like Demon’s.

You can also get invaded in Dark Souls, and the worst part of that is, you will not know, it doesn’t warn you. In Demon’s Souls it flashed bright Red on your screen that you were being invaded.

lol. such a turn off.

So you’ll be somewhere hidden from enemies and then a random dude just pops in to slice your head off?

What if I play offline?

dayday’s description of Dark Souls is good, but let me add this: In this game you will die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, and die, until you beat the game, and then? You’ll feel awesome man.
Dark Souls is only difficult if you don’t know what to do, but when you do know and have prepared well for what’s to come, it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Heres my gripe with RPGs:
When you get powerful tools you enjoy it for about 5 minutes because the enemies get that much stronger.

Is there ever a point ie: after I beat the game where I can go back and enjoy beating the enemies that destroyed me in the beginning to a bloody pulp or no? I hate feeling punished in games.

Thats where I am in Dead Island right now. I’m like a level 24 or something, and yet half the items or weapons I need to make STRONGER weapon modifications are extremely tedious to find so I have weak weapons and every time I level up the enemies level up as well. Its very lame and feels like punishment. I feel like a lot of the mods in this game are cosmetic.

I’d have more fun with this game online but apparently the game needs to be patched and playing online triggers a glitch that can corrupt your save file. I think if more people have this game they would wear the developers asses OUT. It’s been almost a month now and they havent fixed this random glitch yet.

You don’t have to be a fan of the DCU to enjoy the Arkham series imo. They’re just good games.
I personally don’t really like Batman in general aside from a few story arcs and Batman Beyond. But his rogue gallery (Villains) makes up for it.

Demon’s Souls the enemies do not level up with you or your equipment. Their HP stays the same until you NG+, so you by the end of the game you are beasting on everything. You will 1 shot almost everything except a few things like bosses. I had 1 spell called Firestorm, it would kill even the bosses with 2 casts.

If you play offline naturally you will not be invaded, but you miss out on a lot of the game design that way. Just stay in soul form, you can join or invade others games if you wish that way.

Play connected online though.

Thank god for youtube walkthroughs, its like second to none…you want to see what the game is made of? Well there the fuck you go…

I’ll decide between Dark Souls and Arkham City in about 20 minutes.

i SAY GET both: That’s what my brother did and he doesn’t even know ANYTHING about either game lol.
…On the other hand though I’d say DS, since Arkham City might get a GotY edition in a few months.

Why get Dark Souls over Demon’s Souls?
At least you can get in Demon’s for the cheaper price, $20 vs $60?

I just went on my shelf to fuck with my backlog, popped the plastic off Eternal Sonata. Over an hour in and I love the combat system so far. It’s turn based, but you can move as well and guard during enemy attacks.
It also has a Light vs Shade mechanic, where you have different attacks if you are in the shade and vice versa.

I just finished the prologue with Polka, and the 2 dudes.

Eternal Sonata is OK, but the battles can feel repetitive and I personally just couldn’t stand the story so I just skipped through cutscenes lol.
