Heat are 3 moves away from being relevant: 1) Draft a PG (Dennis Smith probably). 2) Swap Dragic for a similar impact player in another position (Rudy Gay would be here already but Heat wanted Collison too, they might change their stance on that knowing they will draft a PG). 3) Grab another impact player in free agency with their $40 mill cap space (Gordon Hayward?).
Combine those 3 new players with presumably an improved Winslow, TJ and J-Rich, along with Whiteside back to being the 3rd or 4th best player, and the Heat become a dangerous team again. Even more dangerous if they can retain James Johnson.
I can’t imagine them being dumb enough to trade every good asset they have at this point when the gameplan is clear.
Then again, Riley did trade Caron Butler and Lamar Odom for Shaq. If he can get a top 10 player with his assets, he will.

I’m sure Rose got fined regardless if his absence was “justified” or not. He had a contractual obligation to play for the Knicks and didn’t say anything about his absence to his superiors until he returned to the team.
