Reid didn’t need the validation. Philly didn’t get rid of him because he’s a bad coach. He’s a good coach. But there’s always a time limit until things go south. He just needed new scenery, as does every coach after a while. But he’s already validated. Definitely always good to get a win against your old squad though. I’m sure he would’ve felt a lot better though had the Chiefs dominated instead of just slightly capitalizing on bad turnovers. Chiefs going to spend a LONG week on Red Zone offense.
You clearly don’t, because your whole post was almost totally false, and to top that off you think I’m stalking you? I don’t even know who you are, aside from somebody who talks out of his ass.
And Richardson was not close to Cleveland’s best player, people need to get off that nonsense.
First of all, I hear a little subtlety with people trying to clown the Chiefs. I’m a life long, hardcore Chiefs fan. I’m sure the Chief’s weren’t most of your radars. And on top of that ESPN don’t dick ride the Chiefs like they do other teams.
I’m going to tell you something right now, the Chiefs is a good team, and have been for the past couple of years. But even with that, we had a little Cancer on our team, and that’s what has holding us back. That cancer was our coaching in Romeo Crenel and the very overrated Matt Cassel. Our GM made some really bad selections there.
First of all, Crenel wasn't a bad coach, but he doesn't know offense. He spent much of his coaching career as a defensive coordinator. And Cassel proved year after year he couldn't get the job done.
Let’s be real, our defense was already good. We have a decent run game already. We just needed a few changes to get us over the hump.
I always told people this for YEARS. “If the NFL was a 2 quarter league, the Chiefs would be the best team”. Our issue is that we weren’t holding our leads, we mostly lead until the second half much of last year. And although we had the worst winning record in the league last year, we rarely lost via a blowout.
Enter Alex Smith and Andy Reid. They compliment Jamaal Charles so well, it’s amazing.
I didn’t see the game last night, but I did read the updates as the game was progressing. Our issue, it’s our second half offense. That’s it. But ouyr offense is where it needs to be. We can make a few plays on offense, run the ball, and on defense we’re total beast. People forget we beat the 2nd best offense in the league last night.
I know you have haters in the cut waiting for us to fail. Well be prepared to wait for a long as fucking time. I can't wait until we play those damn Broncos and take the division this year. It's going to happen. This isn't a fluke guys. This has been a team in development for a few seaons now. The only reason why you guys think this is coming out of nowhere, is because you haven't been paying attention. but keep hating, I'm sure by the end of the season, most of you will be on the bandwagon.
Well I did watch the game. While some of your faults need to be taken with a grain of salt because…well, Thursday game, you still have things to work on.
For example, 3rd Down Conversions. Thankfully for you guys, you made them in the clutch 4th Quarter Drive when you needed them. Other than that though, you converted 3rd and 15 and 3rd and 19 thanks to checkdowns and terrible zoning from the Eagles. You also failed in three straight 3rd and 1 scenarios.
Red Zone offense. Again, until that last drive, 3 Red Zone trips, 9 points. Both of the aforementioned problems are typical issues that Reid has run into over the years.
And Alex Smith has to trust his arm and himself more. Over and over the commentators kept talking about how he would never throw into a crowd. Which is fine. However that entire game, he didn’t so much as throw to a guy that had a defender ANYWHERE near him, outside of the hail mary at the end of the first half. It’s costing him coverage sacks. And multiple times he had guys one on one in good matchups or breaking open on routes. He has to trust himself and he has to trust his receivers. But as of right now, he’s playing way too safe.
The Chiefs however are a good team. That shouldn’t have been doubted. Plus they’re in a weak conference and get to play the NFC East. The Wild Card should be easy picking. That front 7 they have is really damn solid too.
But they have to work out on some of those above issues. Alex Smith in particular, as an increase of confidence for him would immediately resolve the other problems.
I agree, our Red Zone defense was bad that game. I didn’t watch the game, but I can’t deny it. We couldn’t score off of our turnovers that game. And I agree, we do need work, but what team in the NFL doesn’t right now? The Chiefs don’t have explosive offense, but that’s not the point. Our offense compliments our defense, which is our strongest selling point right now. Alex Smith is a little shaky, but he’s still making plays. You have to realize he was put on the bench, and he’s just now getting back into the game. He’s going to get better, but I can see that he’s pacing himself right now. That’s good, the confidence level will grow every game anyway. We all know this.
And the AFC West isn’t weak anymore. Every team, besides the Chargers is looking pretty good right now. If anything, it’s the NFC East that is looking like the weaker conference right now. Even the Raiders are looking a lot better (hate to admit this as I hate the Raiders). I think the AFC West is going to surprise a lot of people this season.
I see the Chiefs winning every game before their bye, and the only real issue I see is with the Giants, and even I question that. The Titans, the Bills, the Titan, I see us winning all of those games.
you aren’t playing the same Chiefs this season that you’re use to playing. We have actual offense now. And you forget the Broncos barely got past the Giants last Sunday. I see us having some close games with the Broncos. I expect the Broncos to beat the Raiders, but again, they may surprise you. If you guys can’t get the job done against the Raiders, we will lead the division.
First of all, when you are a Chiefs fan, you’re born a Chiefs fan. I’m a Chief fan because I had no other choice. I was born with Red and Yellow blood, and that’s not going to change. Yeah, I love my Falcons too, and I hope I’m not put in a situation where I need to choose. I’m a soldier in the Dirty Bird Nation, but I also rep the Chiefs Kingdom.
Alex Smith is working his way back sure but his confidence shouldn’t be so low that he’s only throwing to wide open receivers. He was the highest rated QB in the league when he got benched. He will get better though. Andy Reid knows how to help QBs. But there’s only so much you can do to a fragile mind, and I’d be slightly worried about that.
And I said week CONFERENCE, not Division. The AFC as a conference is weak. Your division is the best division in the AFC, but that’s not saying a whole lot. Being better than the NFC East? Join the club. The NFC East is almost without a doubt (I say almost because the AFC North is trying) the worst division in the league. The AFC West as a whole, except maybe the Raiders, should be running train through it. But the conference is pretty weak, and thus ripe for an easy wild card birth.
Even though Brahn uses the term “Chiefs Kingdom” (I can’t stand that moniker, yet I can’t come up with anything else that isn’t played out), I’ll save him a seat on the bandwagon since he’s old enough to remember Stephone Paige tearing it up on the astroturf back in the dark ages. (fun fact- Stephone Paige is Shabazz Muhammad’s uncle.)
I myself wasn’t cognizant about football until I was six or seven, back when Marty, Deberg, DT, and Christian Okoye showed up.
As for Smith, my only gripe so far is him diving head and shoulder first on runs. He’s going to end up getting DDT’d doing that, and the Chiefs don’t have a Kaepernick waiting on the bench. I’d rather have him make the safe throw or no throw at all than force bad throws like Cassel did. At least I can trust Smith with throwing a screen pass.
The Chiefs were always sleepers to be a a strong team before the season started, I always felt it was going to work because Smith fits perfect in Reid’s system.
Smith was doomed with in my opinion getting picked 1st, heck Aaron Rodgers may have never been the player he is today if he was on the 49ers.
Reid has been interested in Smith since Utah and look at them now, fit perfectly.
Chiefs needed that a QB cough not Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel
no, no biased, its just wierd that the other dude who is a cheifs fan comes in here saying we were shitting on the team and no one cared about them and now we do. which isnt the case, everyone in here knew what the cheifs were capable of. you dont just send that many players to the pro bowl for no reason. the defense is really good, and jamaal charles is really good, and dwayne bowe was always good. now they got donnie avery, who i thought was a very good receiver in indy last year, and they got a QB who is accurate and doesnt turn the ball over. thats a recipe for success on any team.
