Of the QBs that do not have SB rings, Rodgers is the best. Rivers is 2nd, then it’s a tossup between a smattering of QBs like Schaub, Flacco, Cutler, Ryan, McNabb, Vick, etc. Falcons fans will put Ryan high on that jumbled list, I personally do not.
The fact that you admit that there’s a class of QB’s above Matt Ryan means he isn’t elite. The fact that 40 to 50% of the starting QB’s are above or on par with Matt Ryan means that he isn’t elite. This isn’t even something you can argue. It’s the denotation of the word. By admitting he’s not apart of the top tier you admit that he isn’t elite.
1 down…2 to go.
Packers @ Bears is going to be a great game. Our defenses are evenly matched, with the Bears having an edge on Special Teams, and the Packers have the edge on Offense. Should be excellent.
Wait. Both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are gonna be free agents this year?
So. We need to draft an entire offense sans Brandon Marshall. YAY!
Pats and Steelers should be really good too.
Assuming the Pats win.
Wow can any receiver remember to catch anymore maybe if it was a wad of cash they sure as he’ll wouldn’t drop it. Can’t wait till the lions begin to be more evenly matched against the packers and bears.
Jets look hungry. Their defense has always been beast, but they have Sanchez running the offense, so… Pats and Steelers in the AFC Championship should be good, I agree.
Semantics now. I think it’s generally agreed that if you’re in the NFL, you’re good. Better than most. But once you’re in the NFL, there’s a metagame, and Ryan is near the middle of the pack when you compare him to his QB counterparts.
EDIT: Also, I assumed that we were discussing starting QBs in the NFL. If you start throwing in all the 2nd/3rd string QBs into the mix, yes, Ryan becomes “better”, but so does everyone above Ryan.
EDIT2: I’ve stated my case as to why I think Ryan is above-average, citing numerous statistics as to where he sits and where the elite class sits. I really haven’t seen an argument pro-Ryan other than “I know a good QB when I see him” and “he’ll be good in the future”. Give me something more concrete than that.
Pats look to be in trouble so far. The game going the Jets way. Low scoring and good defense.
That is what the Jets want. They just hang in there and steal it in the end.
Remember those overtimes and the Colts.
New England Patriots attempted Week 2 sideline trip vs. New York Jets, video reveals - ESPN lolwut
I think they should both be allowed to trip each other’s special teams since they playin against each other now
LT sucks at playing Brad Smith.
Yup Yup :nunchuck:
Not gonna happen, the Bears will be ready to play…unlile the Falcons when GB played them.
Of course he played a major role in the Falcons season, but you can say that of every starting QB in the NFL and their respective teams. And what “position” are you referring to? Throwing 2 game breaking INTs in the first half? Getting another week to prepare, rest, get fans pumped about homefield advantage, only to shit the bed when you’re team was counting on you the most?
Like shin said, gameplans should be shut down Turner and make Ryan beat you. As his ARI and GB playoff games have shown, he won’t. In fact, not only will he not win it for them, he’ll almost single handedly lose it for them (safety in ARI, pick-6 vs. GB). Like I said, he’ll manage games, but he won’t take them over.
A team that nobody wanted to be a part of? Schaub got dealt by them: Falcons agree to deal backup QB Schaub to Houston - NFL - ESPN. Look at Schaub now.
Chicago freaking smashed those Sea Chickens, TO THE SB!
Matty Ice is a good QB, he is not elite he is a tier below that. He was not the problem with the game though, their defense was.
As a Chargers fan, I’m not sure what to feel about LT. He played like shit last year against the Jets, now he has a TD and he’s running like he has fresh legs? Fuck the Jets
Wonder if this will turn into the same result as the steeler/raven game
Schaub is pretty good. Too bad their defense is not that good. IIRC correctly he lossed them a critical game a month ago or so with an INT. I dont think the Texans made the playoffs tho albeit it is a younger franchise.
Jets are more hungry as Arsenal said. Patriots don’t have that urge so far.
But I mean they down only 11 points. This is the Pats we are talking about.
Oh LT has a chip on his shoulders and is pretty pissed on the inside.
Plus he is more healthy and that always helps.
Yeah, Patriots look flat. Jets look hungry and sharp. I suppose winning close on the road will either tire you out or motivate you. Jets look motivated.
There’s plenty of time left, but as I’ve posted before I think on paper the Jets are just a better team. They are lucky Brad Smith is out, forces them to line up and actually play. When you’re the better team, that’s what you should do, play it straight up and win.
If they’re smart, they keep focusing on Braylon and LT, which is how they won the first game. I don’t know why they have an obsession with Greene and Holmes, Holmes is frankly awful. The guy plays like Randy Moss when Moss dogs it and is washed up, except without the Pro Bowl career. Holmes drops a lot of passes and gives up a lot on routes, so it looks like the passes are wide all the time. Braylon, Cotch and LT keep going so the plays work with them. I can’t believe I’d ever say Braylon is the sure handed WR of any WR corps, but somehow he is. Holmes is a joke.
