Yeah, Carmelo would’ve been a better fit in Chicago or Houston. Granted, the Rockets need a few more pieces–a true PG–had they signed Melo, but the Bulls would’ve given Melo the best opportunity to challenge for the title now that the Heat got nerfed a couple of weeks ago.
The way I look at, we don’t even have a pg. Unless were talking about Jordan Clarkson who was great in summer league and the only reason I’m repping him is because I know some of his family.
I don’t think he’s a bad coach, he’s more of a jack of all trades coach, not great at anything but has knowledge on all things needed to win. He was also coaching for shitty teams (Cavs, Hornets) which made him look not as desirable.
He needs a good supporting cast of assistant coaches.
LAL will be ‘OK’ this year, but the West is going to be so over the top tough that it won’t matter. They could have a 60% win record and still not make the playoffs…
After getting my Nets to back-to-back finals, I’m good with Byron Scott coaching the Lakers. Now, if he can get Kobe to pass the ball—good luck—and keep the locker room from having PMS every other game, then I’d imagine the Lake Show will do OK this season. I’m not saying they’ll make the playoffs—especially since the West has leveled up since the draft—but they’ll be in better shape than say, Utah or Sacramento. They may look to get rid of some more expiring contracts so they can try to make a push for K-Love and Durant next year, too.
Perception of Kobe’s hogness is WAY overblown. He’s not Lebron efficient, but all thigns considered, he’s actually usually pretty efficient. The problem is people remember the times he isn’t.
People also don’t take into account who he’s playing with or been playing with. I mean rewind to when they should’ve been crazy with Nash and Dwight, even at FULL health, who would he pass it to? Nash is a great shooter, but most likely with that much firepower would pass it to someone else. If I’m Kobe, Dwight got ‘meh-tastic’ post game, Pau Gasol was getting pushed out of the offensive rotation, Artest? Even when they won back to back, Kobe was the best option. He should only pass it if it’s the best option. It’s not like LBJ who is either surrounded by 3-4 shooters or for his chips had Wade/Bosh as good enough co-stars to warrant passing control to at times.
Man, not a lot of people don’t even remember when Kobe would have to drop 35 PPG because everyone else was shooting 25-33%. And even when they got the W “KOBE SHOULD HAVE PASSED THE BALL MORE”.
