Chicago wasn’t thin at the big man spot, they kept that rotation of 3 bigs who could hold their own defensively, offensively, etc. As well, they usually had a really good defensive PF in Horace Grant/Dennis Rodman along with athletic PFs like Caffey that could help to always kee pa body on Hakeem.
Now I’m not syaing “oh they shut Dream down”…no no no, not at all, but I don’t see him ‘going off’ on Chicago, especially to a degree that him and Drex could offset Mike & Scottie.
But I think there is also something to be said of the Chicago transition. Everyone talks about the first 3 peat, but the team they had for the second 3 peat to me was way stronger and could battle a much more diverse set of teams. So I see Ron Harper @ the point, able to provide 20 a night if need be, but also able to d-up on pretty much anyone 6-8 or shorter. I see a Jordan who’s developed the sky-hook for guards in his fade awat. I see Pippen who after having his moment in the sun, finally seemed comfortable with what he was. I see Steve Kerr able to hit shots blindfolded. Dennis Rodman providing ‘most’ of what Grant provided (lacked the jumpshot), but improved defense and rebounding as well as functioning as a garbage man of the highest order…able to defend and tire out SF to C. I mean hell, between Harper and Rodman, you could guard anyone on the court - and that didn’t even throw Jordan and Pippen into the equation defensively.
In 94-95, the year Chi and HOU would have faced off…Chicago didnt have Dennis Rodman yet (no J. Caffey either), and had already let Horace Grant go to ORL, so that gives you a laughable Big rotation of Luc Longley and Will fucking Purdue…oh my bad…they had Greg Foster too…lol Dickey Simpkins was a rookie that yr, and never played. Meanwhile HOU had Akeem and Otis Thorpe, so i definetely can see Hakeem “going off”…every game to be precise… with Robert Horry being what was probably the prototype of what would turn into the “stretch 4” that we know today. CHI didnt have a big that would be able to guard him on the wing. So we putting Pip on him? fine. More shots for Mario Elie.
no one in the LEAGUE could stop MJ so thats a wash. Drexler would get his 25-30 ppg (edit…it just downed on me clyde wasnt there yet…wow…,)but wouldnt be able to do anything with Mike on the other end Scottie also gets his at will on offense…but when Akeem is tearing you up downlow, I dont think HOU would mind Jordan & Pip ‘doing them’. Toni Kukoc was there avg 15 ppg so Chi had weapons Chi has the better perimeter game as far as players that can create thier own shot…while HOU has the better post game that demands attention to let them kick it out to the open shooter
Ron Harper was a big guard but he was not a main option on offense like that…Ron Harper barely avg’d 8 ppg in CHI that yr. he wasnt the same guy he was in CLE or LA…the knees were already busted…he was basically there for a size advantage. I’ll agree he was a pretty formidable defender still, so Sam Cassell may or may not have had a good series…I’m leaning more toward the theory that he would be too quick for old man Ron-Ron though…then theres the heat check x-factor of Mad Max coming off the bench that would make BJ Armstrong his bitch…lol Kenny Smith is an afterthought but bottom line is Houston surrounded Dream with hella shooters…more than Chi was neccesarily equipped to deal with. and once again…HOU dominates the series from a “inside out ball movement” standpoint…but I’m not saying CHI wouldnt adjust and make it a good series…thats why I called seven games.

Bulls still making one last push to get Kevin Love. I absolutely love that they haven’t given up on getting him. Its said Minnesota wants Taj, Butler, and likely a pick for him…Im okay with that.

Could improve Wolves a bit too. Gibson improves their interior, provides 16-10 and blocks, and can catch lobs from Ricky on screens. Butler gives them the kind of perimeter defender they’ve helplessly needed.
