Rockets had two trips to the Finals in the 80’s. One with Moses Malone and again with Sampson and Olajuwon. We won two chips in the 90’s, signed Barkley and Pippin after, had a good young backcourt in Francis and Mobley that they flipped for T-Mac to pair with Yao, and have missed the playoffs only 9 times since 1988.
The Heat have been around since 88 and missed the playoffs 8 times. Prior to 2005, when they landed Shaq, they had never made it to the Finals. Prior to LeBron James joining your team, you only had one championship and weren’t really perennial contenders. You made it to the ECF once in the 90’s. Sans LeBron, the Heat have never been perennial contenders.
As for hating on Dwight when he was with the Lakers…uh, duh. I liked Pau and Nash before they were Lakers. Artest too. I shit on the Lakers because they’re the Lakers. If Harden joined them in LA at some point I’d shit on him too. The only player I couldn’t root for if he joined us would be Kobe. Miami was a Top 2 seed four times in the 90s. If you don’t consider that a perennial contender then your trolling has fallen on hard times indeed. They never could get past the Knicks and Bulls, thus why they didn’t get to the Finals before Shaq. They also got pushed back because of Alonzo’s health, which left the team in disarray between 2001 and 2004.
Miami had a great team in the late 90s that contended for 4 years. They won a championship in the 2000s and contended for basically 2 and a half years. In this same timeframe, Houston has been a deadfish franchise and hasn’t been to the WCF since 1997. Coincidentally also in 1997, Miami won 61 games. Houston hasn’t had a 60-win season in their entire history.
So somehow in that pea brain of yours, the Knicks sucked because they made 2 Finals in that time span, but somehow the Heat were better because they made what, 2 ECFs while getting beat by the Knicks the rest of the time?
