Yeah Kareem and Wilt come to mind. Can’t really think of any others.
Objectively watch the tape, look at his stats. Kobe was marketed very well, but he doesn’t hold up to what his rep is.

I don’t…
Did someone just really say he was the ultimate version of JR Smith? Yes, Kobe is an asshat…but WHAT!? The hate is strong.
So…we’re just going to ignore the fact Kobe was averaging 28, 5, and 5 for 12 years right?
And for at least 5 to 6 of those years was a really really good onball and offball defender?
GTFO out of here with that shit man.
Next we’re about to hear how Allen Iverson was an inferior Isiah Thomas.
Fuck is wrong with this thread bruh?

NIGGA.
You do realize the only perimeter players to average around 49-50% from the field for more than 1 season is Jordan, Drexler, and Lebron right?
Everyone else is hovering at 45-46%.

Are people really trying to illegitimatize Kobe’s career? There is no doubt in any basketball fans, players, commentators, analysts, etc., about Kobe’s legacy in the NBA. He deserves every credit he can get.

Watch the tapes? Look at his stats? Have YOU done those things? 5 NBA championships, 3rd All Time Leading Scorer, 2 Olympic Gold Medals, and overall being one of the clutchest players the league has ever seen. And you’re saying that he doesn’t live up to his rep? You’re either the biggest Kobe hater or you don’t watch basketball enough to know what you’re talking about, no offense. I mean, come on.

I will say this though. If you win enough championships, people **will **overlook the shots you missed in crunchtime, and focus on the gamewinners you did make.
Case in point. When was the last time we heard a Lebron isn’t clutch narrative?

There’s really no legit argument for anybody being close to Jordan. Defensively, he’s 1 of only 2 guards to win DPoY. Offensively, he’s the only NBA guard to average 30 ppg for his entire career. He’s in his own class and always has been.

Ok, fair enough. But here’s a fair question. Lebron still has several years of basketball to play. Do you not see him getting near, if not, outright passing Jordan’s legacy? Just an honest question, I’m not favoring any particular side.

Nobody will surpass Jordan’s legacy. He has the most flawless basketball resume possible.
NCAA championship. 6-0 in the Finals with 6 Finals MVPs. Rookie of the Year. Defensive player of the Year. Scoring titles. MVPs. Allstar every year of his career. Allstar MVPs. #1 all-time NBA ppg average.
He’s literally won every award except Most Improved Player.
Some guys will score more points or have more allstar appearances. LeJudas might even match him in MVPs. But they’ll never have the complete body of work that Jordan’s career ended as.
I really hate these Jordan comparisons… ESPECIALLY when it comes to LeBron.
They play two entirely different games/styles for one. Two, LeBron has greatly benefited from watching how Kobe and Jordan handled their careers/teams/owners/fans/media, and has adjusted his style accordingly to fit himself.
Every time I see Geo say “LeJudas” I giggle.
Nobody will surpass Jordan, not even Lebron James. And man the way its looking guys… Cleveland will be in the Finals on the Eastern Conference for the years to come because the East is that bad. I mean on the Eastern side who can challenge lebron and the Cavs? From my view the Bucks are still an upcoming and young team, the knicks will be bad for awhile (I want Phil Jackson gone as en executive) the heat can make things interesting but they need a better bench, and ugh damn it to hell. Just not looking forward to possibly seeing Cleveland again and again in the finals
That’s the other thing about these dumb ass comparisons…
Look at the caliber of teams and players Jordan consistently shut out of conference finals/championships… We’re talking all-time greats like Stockton and Malone, Kemp and Payton, Barkley, Ewing, Drexler, Olajuwon… Players and teams who would’ve been multiple time World Champs if Jordan and the Bulls weren’t constantly standing in the way.
Who’s LeBron been stomping on in the weak ass Eastern Conference of 2012-15? Exactly.
Now dead this shit please.

Heat will go wherever Whiteside takes them next year. Riley told him to demand the ball more. Nobody can guard him.
I still laugh everytime I see how helpless Drummond looked.

But yeah, they need a bench.
When he’s done, LeBron will have a great resume in his own right. I hope people will recognize that and not just think nonsense like “Jordan is better, therefore LeBron sucks.”
That I can agree with.
I know its human nature to directly compare shit all the time, but just because Jordan w/Phil Jackson + Bulls assist is Ivan Ooze tier doesn’t make LeBron’s White Tigerzord tier irrelevant.
Imma get a lot of hate for this, but Jordan in this era wouldn’t have been as dominant. This is coming from a Bulls fan.

Ughh I hate Jordan/Kobe/LeBron talk.
Those two careers get diminished greatly when compared to the goat.

I know its not his fault but damn the East is shitty
*RE:
Kobe is an all time great. “2nd best guard next to Jordan” isn’t the question that interests me. Duncan vs Kobe does.*
