LMAO. The lola I’ve seen on the internet over the past week over this story has been so epic.
BTW the Kevin Love stalemate is going something that has been going on since draft night. The deal apparently was done. There were conflicting reports but it went something like the Cavs would have surrendered a combo of player along with the number one pick. The deal was nuked because Love refused to a long term extension. Now this is going to be interested because the Cavs have seemingly fallen in love with Wiggins and they want think that they can call a possible bluff against Minnesota. They are thinking they will take the Cavs offer of the combination of Waiters,Bennett and the first round for next year and settle for it because, honestly that is the best deal they can get and they don’t think that they will let him walk via free agency when they have an almost 0% chance of getting him to sign back.
The irony here is that Wade was the reason that Lebron went to Miami, and if he leaves Wade will be the reason he goes. If Wade is healthy this year’s finals would have been far more competitive, no one is talking about James Harden as the best SG in the league, and everyone is probably re-signed already. The problem is that Wade isn’t even an All-Star caliber player, and even though I don’t know what kind of money he wants, I’m pretty sure he isn’t worth what he’s asking for. Wade knows what’s up. Even the fiercest competitor know when their body is failing them, and they aren’t what they used to be. At BEST he’s worth $12 million a year, but he’s probably not willing to settle for that, and I can’t say I blame him. This is his last chance to get a major contract.
Lebron’s the best player in the league, thus he deserves max money. Any dollar under that is doing the organization a favor. This is something that he shouldn’t have to negotiate for, but probably will… because you know, business. It seems like the most likely thing holding the process up is how much Wade, and possibly Bosh are asking for.
There is one more thing; all players who are similar to Wade, i.e 6’3 or less not good shooters rely solely on athleticism to get to the paint and penetrate and injury prone (Iverson and Isiah Thomas as prime examples) usually begin to lose most of their value all at once. There is no steady decline; they go from superstar to possible all-star one year to league average the next. All signs pointing to this being Wade. It sucks that he opted out of his contract and left so much money on the table. Hopefully some way he gets that money back seeing that in many ways he is Mr. Heat (no offense to Alonzo Mourning)
If the heat are smart they’d let wade go. You have to get guys that fit what you want to do. Guaranteed the Heat want Wade to finish his career in Miami–he has to want it too. If not, both parties should be prepared to walk away and Wade should be prepared to go someplace else to get his money. He would (presumably) be an amazing locker room presence with any young guys. But you can find that for cheaper.
I agree with Hotobu, hes a great player. Not an all-star caliber guy, but still a great player that I would love to have on my team.
let him go… where? no one else wants wade. he doesn’t want to go anywhere else either.
if lebron goes and they have to take a break this season, i bet they give wade a front loaded contract for 3 years with the back 2 at a discount to hope riley can get talent to south beach the years after. if they can get some pieces, now i can see wade getting a good even 3 years, depending on who it is.
wade is staying. there is no “letting go.” wade just fucked up by opting out, now he’ll play for roughly the same money for more years.
 So I never genuinely felt like these people were pathetic when I saw the jersey burning and shit…just kind of attributed it to “a couple of bad apples spoil the bunch.” But this…this confirms it.
THE FUCK WERE THEY EXPECTING TO SEE!? LEBRON DESCEND FROM THE HEAVENS OR SOME SHIT!?!
Well Bosh has less than 2 days to decide, because otherwise the Rockets won’t have the salary cap room.
Bosh really needs to take the offer, it’s his career. It’s never good to wait on your “friends” when it’s money or a life decision on your part. If the option is there you always should take it.
Another thing that’s confusing me about this whole story…how is LeBron close to signing with Cleveland if he hasn’t even had a face-to-face with them yet? Unless we are to believe that Gilbert was actually on that plane in South Florida and a secret meeting went down.
I still don’t get why the hell Lebron would go back though. Were the Heat really as bad as the Cavaliers at any point? I remember way back when a schoolteacher had her class write letters of encouragement to the Cavaliers after they lost damn near every game in their season. Have they even gotten any better than that? I never heard of shit like that for the Heat.
