The Official NBA 2013-2014 Thread: Spurs win Championship:Heat cooled off

Recap of the Laker/Nets highlights on NBA.com.

“Here is Jason Collins going for the rebound.”
“Veteran Jason Collins with a hand off to Deron Williams.”
“As you can see, here is Collins setting up a screen.”

Well, Jason Collins will pave the way for other players to be open, so there won’t be any room for over-the-hill midlevel personal foul machines using their orientation to stay relevant.

Well nfl has one now so yea.

For those of us who said “Fuck the owners” during the CBA negotiations and said “Parity wouldn’t change because of the New CBA”, “Because owners are cheap and organizations are poorly run”.

We have our validation not that we needed it anyway.

“The NBA attempted to level the playing field by hardening the salary cap, but it has acted more as cost-cutting measures and revenue redistribution.”
“In examining the standard deviation of winning percentage since 99-00, Tom Ziller find that parity remains relatively unchanged.”

I stopped watching Robinson a long time ago. How is he doing now that he’s on a winning team?

so apparently mwp’s bro went in on the knicks

calling woodson a puppet and the knicks trash

It’s the truth!

Oh Knicks got DIRK’D LOL

Also: REALLY JR?

LOL Earl is an idiot

Dirk’s Game winner. He’s still got it. Go Mavs

So, MWP hopes to sign with MIA, SAS, or OKC.

MIA.

New New New New World Order.

technically not yet.

man that shot was something. I didn’t think he’d get it off with how quick the clock seemed to be winding down. what a deflater for NYK.

Dirk still got that shooter’s touch

yup got lucky there

what I like is him and the rest of the team totally accepted their role in this system …

not even 10% attacking the basket anymore from Dirk, who could still drive from the high post to give Monta more space and the wings when they are on the court together …

also cause the Mavs are so slow they build fastbreaks around the second wave

but you also see that time is naggin at Dirkules, his off reb decline is normal seeing at where he has to be in the offense, but defensivly he got a good step slower the last 2 years

Yeah age is hindering his D and his R but he never really was a defensive player nor was he a good rebounder for his position and I’m surprised for Monta. I thought he was gonna be OJ Mayo 2.0 but he’s actually a good fit for the team

according to one of the local reporters (mike monroe), mwp can ‘scratch san antonio’ from his list of possible destinations

So Felton is in jail for weapons charge…NYK collecting massive L’s this season LOL

I actually somewhat disagree. Proof positive, the two biggest franchises right now are doing HORRIBLY (LAL & NYK), of the top 4 teams, none are truly a large market - with MIA being closest. The West Conference is actually extremely balanced, sure there are cellar dwellers, but you’ve got elite play through like the top ten. The disparity is that the EC just SUCKS and can’t get its act together. It’s filled with poor management (CLE, NYK), teams happy to be in the middle (MIL, ATL), rebuilding teams (Orl), and teams that are trying to grow, and have made positive strides, but mistakes in drafting/and or personal have slowed the process (CHA/Wiz).

Has it functioned as cost cutting - yeah, but look at OKC. They couldn’t afford to keep Harden due to the CBA, and in turn he went to Houston, and helped turn them from ‘meh-tastic’ to pretty damn good, and lure Dwight Howard there to make it a ‘near championship calibur’ team. The Knicks SUCK and its partially due to mis-management - the CBA pretty much prevents them from turning into a good team by just buying people, they have to turn it around the hard way.

Since 00’ who has one the chip? SAS, DET, LAL, DAL, & MIA - with LAL, SAS, & MIA winning multiple. LAL had Shaq & Kobe, and eventually Kobe & Pau. MIA has LBJ. SAS has/had Duncan. It’s got less to do with distribution and more to do with 'who has the best player in the league and has properly surrounded them.

And I mean, let’s be honest. How many top 50 players are there right now compared to 00’ and before? Sure we have LBJ and Durant, Duncan & Kobe are still playing…without those TRUE MAX players, we have an abundance of teams overpaying middling players, or performing poison pill contracts like Lin & Asik. Is that the CBA’s fault fro ma talent perspective? Think of the draft classes over the past five years or so. We havne’t had anything close to rivaling the 96 or 03 classes. This year has potential, but for the most part the talent simply hasn’t been there, so the top players are simply still running things.

Hey lin’s contract is not poisoned! He’s doing a great job coaching!!!
