The Official Jacksonville FL thread, where we don't care about tiers

Sweet, i joined, just waiting to get accepted on face book

Hey guys, how’s it going? I’m just a local guy from the beaches who wants to level up his game and get connected with the community. Just wanted to know what games do you all play? I currently play SSF4:AE and Soul Calibur V but I would love to get into some Tekken, BlazBlue, and SFxT. While I won’t be able to meet up this week, I’ll certainly be coming around next Sunday.

Lastly, Is there anything I should know about before coming (i.e. entry fees, preferred systems, sign up information, etc.).

You should probably post up your introduction and questions on our facebook group:

We have a lot of players, but no one ever talks on here anymore.

Hello, my name is Chris and I am a King of Fighters player playing out of the Orlando area.
Very recently, central Florida KoF has been struggling with attendance at events. A tournament in Altimonte was cancelled this week because we couldn’t even put together an eight man bracket. Two weeks ago in Tampa wasn’t much better, we drew eleven.
That got some of the locals to talking about what we might do to save this game before it disappears outright. The conclusion we came to was that we need to network a lot better. Get central Florida on the same page as north and south Florida. Be willing to travel. Basically turn the smaller local scenes into one big Florida scene.

Most of central Florida’s communication is done through Facebook, and if that’s the case here, if you could give me some names of the local KoF players I’d appreciate it greatly. If not, I will be stopping by the regional boards occasionally, more often closer to events, and I encourage you guys to do the same.

Thank you.

I had a team of about 4 or 5 people who were taking KoF very seriously, but I need to see where they stand right now on the game. We were trying to grind it out against each other locally and travel a bit but we just couldn’t get enough play in to break down a game with that many exceptions to the core set of rules. It’s just very “matchup knowledge” heavy and we had a very small pocket of players. Your solution might fix that problem, but it may already be too late for our little crew. Everyone started getting into older games that function still on GGPO or into Persona 4 because it has a similar way of thinking at times but with infinitely better online and a slightly more responsive feel overall.

If you want to get into our Jacksonville facebook group to try and coordinate things with the other players in our area that would be the best idea. The facebook group is called “Jacksonville Fighting Game Community” and I believe Tyger can approve you if you apply.

Done!

Hi O

Man where’s your old school avatar with dan and dr.doom Mirko?

Bump, doing some cleanup

Hey guys sup?! I recently moved down to jacksonville, fl from NY and looking for a fgc to get involved for I can start playing some games again. I currently only play street fighter but I am open to play other games. I play on 360 so if you want to hit me up for some games just hit me at Edahlarin on xbl.

Just moved down to the area. Any reason my request to join the facebook group keeps getting rejected??

Is there still an active scene out here? I just moved here from New York. I’m mostly interested in Street Fighter.
