man screw you guys seriously

while you all play LAME SWORD GIRL ill be stylin with DEMON ROLLERBLADE CHICK

Really? Could have sworn Accent Core and pretty much every other version of XX looked nice during loketests. I’m talking about the actual appearance. The sprites look nice, but they animate worse than GG sprites. The characters look like they are moving in slow-motion and very jerkily. Gameplay takes a while to analyze, but right now it looks like a slow Rumble Fish to me.

GENERIC GOTH LOLI #458 for me!

1: GGAC, despite having new features, STILL HAS THE SAME BASIC MOVES ALL AROUND, INCLUDING MOST B&BS. So regardless, you’ll see better play because all players are doing is seeing if old stuff still works or if they need to adjust to new shit.

You understand right? Instead of OHNOES 6K DOESN’T LAUNCH AS HIGH ANYMORE SO I CAN’T DO GENERIC DUST LOOP DOUBLE JUMP COMBO it’s WHAT THE FUCK DO THESE CHARACTERS DO? HOW DO THE SUBSYSTEMS WORK?</broad generalization which was true for the Slash loke and will be true for AC lokes>

2: This is a brand new game, using a completely different animation style than just sprites, which in the past(Rumblefish series) has looked a lot jerkier simply because of the technology used.

You’re not helping GG players rep here man.

That’s weird because when I watched the videos, I thought “hey this is what Rumblefish would look like if it animated correctly”. The animation is really nice and 10x better than GG’s.

SK: Like I said, I’m going purely on appearance of the game, I’m not judging the gameplay because I have no basis for that, other than the characters seem to move slowly and I personally prefer faster-paced games. The sprites look nice, but they don’t look good in motion. The main thing, I guess, is that I watch the vids and it just doesn’t catch my interest. Maybe it’ll seem better to me when it comes out.

cygnus: You must be joking. The animation is pretty lackluster. Even GG, which has a low framecount, has smoother animation than this game.

Uhm… yeah… the sprites look poorly animated to me. I can’t tell what kind of ‘new system’ they are using at all… but that might mean they are just doing a good job of whatever they are doing.

But yeah, the animation looks at best on the level of GG. It’s especially notable on some of the special moves, like generic sword girl’s air DP/YZS, that there just aren’t a lot of frames of animation.

I think the game itself looks to play fairly fast though. In some of the matches, they are making good use of what seems to be dash canceling, as well as the usual IAD rushes and such. I’m sure players will play faster once they learn all of the rules as well.

It seems like there’s a bunch of defensive options going on too … one of them seems to be a huge push block (like retardedly huge) and the other seems to make you move forward towards the enemy while blocking (with a firey glow in front of you). Sounds like this game is some bizarre hybrid of GG and HnK.

http://www.lucky-net.co.jp/framepage1.html > some system info and two vids with one showing the game intro which as quite crappy music imo.

In any case, I’m still looking forward to this game (though Battle Fantasia still looks quite more interesting in my eyes :wgrin:).

The only things that I would really like to see Yuki fix would be the speed (same with BF, for that matter), and making the jumps a bit less floaty. I mean, if the fighting arenas are going to be that large, jumps shouldn’t be that slow, in my opinion…

Is that 8-way dashing I see? If it is, then this game can’t possible be bad.

I simply use this standard to compare. The first time I saw Arcana Heart in motion, I could tell what was happening. The first time I saw ABA, I couldn’t even tell what the hell she was doing because all her air normals are like 2 frames. She just looked like a stop-motion amorphus blob that causes blockstun.

Yep. Seems like they didn’t bother to even try. lol

Saweki (Same dude that posted the first Accent Core vids) has a crapload of vids from the location tests for this game:

Wow?

Why is the screen even bigger than Marvel’s?

is always …

Hi guys, I wrote about the 2nd Arcana Heart loke on my site recently:

http://insomnia.ac/japan/arcana_heart/

You’ll also find screenshots and 400MB of high-res videos in there – none of that crappy youtube stuff.

This game is a lot of fun. Of course it remains to be seen whether it will evolve into a decent competitive platform, but it’s 2D, it’s high-res, and we should be thankful to Yuki for it. I hope it does well, gets a couple of revisions, and allows Yuki to come up with another one eventually.

Good shit icyclam!

Also

Fucking owned.

Gotta say, *much *much thanks for updates, Icycalm. Hi-res pics and video footage? We never had it this good when HnK was being tested.

Good review and I’m glad to see the game seems to be doing well.

I am glad to hear you guys are enjoying the videos. I put quite some effort into making them.

In other news, the game goes on sale in December, for around 238,000 yen. Apparently, it runs off a PCB which outputs 31Khz video signal.

I wonder why they didn’t go with Naomi or Atomiswave.
