Cause its just that good.

I’ll say it again as I have said numerous times in the past…
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLITICS!!!

So uh, I’m still going next week for the tourny. Can we get everyone there again(even though arturo is depressed/pissy at the game)? I don’t wanna enter alone with a bunch of nobody Kamuis. :frowning:

The way that people were talking, it made it sound like they were quitting cause SBO rules changed. And again, i said i was sorry earlier about the post sounding harsh, but thanks for putting me in my place.

And just to let you know, this is VERY different from Soul Calibur 2 or Third Strike. There’s 2-3 places in the US that even have this game. Granted, i can see the possibility of someone winning, but chances are REALLY slim cause i dont think a lot of people understand how broke you have to play to win. And if you do understand, you simply dont have enough strong competition to challenge you and make you think. Soul Calibur 2 was constantly played, constantly having tournaments all over the country in arcades. From release date to SBO, it was being played. This is not the case with this game, and has nothing to do with ‘loli-centric’ Japan, it has to do with inability to play against other strong competition. If theres only a couple strong players, then you might get good, but only against mainly the character that your opponent plays. And even so, only against that persons playstyle as well.

And i seriously hope whoever goes from the US does really well cause as i said i’m rooting for you guys, and yes everyone got screwed over, but to me, quitting now cause of that kinda threw me off. I respect Sabin for everything he’s done and if he leaves the community, i unno, i dont really see much of a chance for the CF scene anymore.

And again, prove me wrong by sending whoever is the best over to Japan to win their matches. Maybe it’ll help people to have even more of a drive to play a game that only a small community plays. I’m not saying stuff to be “elite” im just trying to make sure you guys arent underestimating the competition in any way, and i really dont want to see the US qualifier go over there and lose immediatly.

I’ll be there… :wonder:

tian, you’ve spent some time and maybe some cash on it, but don’t waste our time with “if you’re dedicated/obsessed then $1500 is nothing.” For Austin, it’s not $1500, it’d be $3400+. For that kind of money we could have gotten ourselves a NEW Accent Core board and had money left over to fly one of us to Japan too, if we wanted to. I respect what you’ve done to provide gameplay info and such despite not caring about the game that much, but you just don’t seem to get it when it comes to the scene/community/competitive drive aspect.

If YOU don’t feel like YOU can compete with the Japanese because YOU lack the competition and resources, fine by me. YOU are not the one who has already spent $2000 on this game, and if YOU are going to concede to the Japanese before they’ve even landed in our airports, who the hell are YOU to tell anybody about what dedication is or what it takes to be competitive? Some people were fully willing to play the Japanese and make them PROVE they’re better than us rather than just assume they are because they live on some island chain and steal their written language from China. Now those people got screwed over, and I am honestly not in the mood to hear people who’ve spent like $50-100 on this game try to tell me “it’s all good, you were gonna lose to the Japs anyhow.”

We enjoy this game in Austin. I’m sure we’ll still play it up until at least SBO quals. Hopefully by then, Yuki will come to their senses. If not, oh well.

HeartNana:
I think most people understand that we are at a disadvantage due to our smaller player base, but yeah you’re right, it is definitely going to be a challenge playing against the Japanese players who have more experience. HOWEVER, I don’t think it’s a lost cause for sure. Hell I took a few games off top Tokyo GG players in Slash even though I couldn’t play on their sticks, and I would have won a lot more if I could have actually done special moves or combos ;( So all I’m saying is that while we aren’t exactly fully aware of how our opponents play, that goes both ways as well. A lot of matches could come down to who outguess/outgimmicks the other person at just the right time, and if we are hitting our combos and such as well as they are for the most part, you never know!

Quick question for Arturo/Shinto, can you guys upload the .avi or whatever format those tourny vids are in? I’d like to compress em and put them on my DS to study, so if you guys could provide It’d be most appreciated.

To lighten up the mood a little:

Chibi If your reading this right now plz get on aim we need to talk.

Im on aim.

:stuck_out_tongue:

really quick question cause this game looks awesome… however there is no arcade cabinet for it near me.

Is this game ever going to come to PS2???

Thats what i’m hoping, especially with 2/3 rounds.

The thing is, update or not, i just dont want the scene to die. It hasnt even been around long enough for many people to even know about the game, so people quitting now only hurts the scene more.

And yeah, i’m aware of how badly the US gets screwed over by AHF’s price, but at this point, i say screw Japan. Play for yourselves and for US, not for Japan. Thats the point i want to make. Regardless of what Japan plays on, play on what we have available to you guys.

The point im ultimately trying to make is don’t give up. =P

It doesnt matter whether or not you can go to SBO this year or whether or not Japan is or isnt better. The point is just to play the game and keep the scene going.

But again, if people are going to stop playing cause of $$$ issues, lack of comp, etc, i understand, but the original version of arcana still hasnt changed, and the US still plays slash for the most part cause AC isnt available yet. We’ll get to the point where we’ll get the latest version on console and then we can worry about how we do then once a scene is available to everyone.

Quitting now doesnt help our chances against Japan, and it makes the US even MORE of the underdog and will earn even MORE respect if the qualifier is able to win or hell, even make their opponent sweat their boots to win. Nobody is expecting anyone to shell out 1500 for the upgrade cause thats bs, but the top AH players are most likely gonna be the top AHF players, so im sure it transfers over pretty well.

ill write more later, but i was invited on alpha ism radio to talk about this whole situation on saturday.

What Yuki is doing could have serious implications on the arcade/fighting game scene as a whole, IMO, amongst many other things.

Pretty much, we got owned by a bunch of suit wearding corporate fobs in Japan. :frowning:

We don’t know.

well yeah…anyway, if anyone wants to come on alphaismradio and discuss the arcana heart situation, feel free, its on saturday. cause at this point, i dont really ahve the energy to explain it that much, im still pretty salty about everything thats happened in like 3 days.

Sadly the Yuki situation affects the arcade/fg scene as a whole, even for people that play on straight console. I hope other companies dont follow Yuki’s example and get any smart ideas thinking they can charge for bugfix upgrades and shit. If the Japaense fighting game scene/arcade scene suffers because of this bullshit, then we all lose. Cause yeah…we all know how “good” fighting games are when they get designed strictly for console without a arcade release to bugtest/playbalance everything.

In short, Mikado si totally right for going on a whole spiel and calling Yuki Enterprise a disgrace to the Japanese arcade scene. They are a fucking disgrace for pulling this shit, especially considering this shit effects us too, all this time and energy wasted for nothing, and positive word of mouth spread by the players - only for them to slap us in the face.

Of course, I don’t expect everyone to see it my way, or “think of the scene” as a wole, or even in the long term…but man…you couldn’t come up with a better way to kill my buzz. I couldn’t have seen this coming.

I was able even tolerate Henry’s bullshit and outright lies on this thread, that’s how strong my desire to play this game was. But do you think I wanna pay 75 cents now? Hell no. Of course I’ll probably end up playing it again in a few days at some point, but I’m in no rush to head to CF again atm. I was probably going to the arcade everyday after school, 5 adys a week…I havent’ done something like that in the past 5+ years, for real. I can handle Henry’s slap to the face, and turn over the other cheek easy it was all good. But when some suits in Japan fuck me over? It’s really too much, and I hope you guys can understand where I am coming from here. How can I promote a game when everyone involved in the chain of command just royally fucked me over?

The buzz that I helped create for this game is something that cannot be paid for with money, plan and simple.

tianyuan:
I have no idea why you are even spazzing out, as my post was not to insult or offend youm just to point out why you are wrong. I don’t see why yorue talkign abotu casual play, when you are missing the whole point of me running tourneys, taking videos, being proactive and blowing shit up and what not. I wanted to build a homegrown scene of killers man, and to be a killer myself in this game for the most part. i don’t feel like explaining stuff like this over a bulletin board, because its clear that you missed the points i was trying to get at as a whole and you got all pissy now beacuse of it. we all appreciated your info and your contributions and what you wrote and noted everythign you asid abotu the system/engine and changes though. CrimsonDisaster’s post sums up my feelings for the post part, so I’ll quote what he said. I have no desire to quote and break down what you said right now because I don’t have the drive to do so atm.

Yuki managed to kill my buzz in the worst possible way. How could I support a company now that has just directly fucked me over?

BTW, I don’t know what my post had to do with you NOT goign to play AH…you could have went and replied to me in the morning man. Shit is the internet, it’s not that serious, and I wasn’t trying to attack you man.

I think that post was towards tianyuan yo.

Are you going to call in on a normal phone, or are you going to be on skype, Art? I’ll try to call in Saturday, but I’ll be in Austin and I don’t know if Fubarduck has a mic for his computer.

edit: I’ll probably just bring my mic along just in case.

and this

Everything you did so far is just making yourself better so you can get into SBO and do even better. See what you said in the first quote? No SBO qualifier = “done with the game.” You play AH not because it’s AH. You play AH because it gets you ticket into SBO. Building a group of killers? For what? Running tourneys? For what? Taking videos? For what? They all sound like you are using other NY players to get into SBO. It doesn’t matter it’s AH or not. It’s all about Sabin going to the SBO. I AM OKAY WITH IT because it’s good to see New York fellows attend SBO! But you are taking it waaaaaaaaay too far. Ppl play the game because they want to learn the game and having fun competing with others. Obviously all you care is that ticket to SBO. Again I am okay with that as long as you don’t accuse me for insulting your (and others, the “we”) intelligence for saying “the game isn’t that simple” and “want to compete? Go to Japan!”

Now, if you really want to build a group of killers, start get into AH instead of just gier Kamui and your narrow focus to SBO. Not just abusing Kamui but also learn other characters and share you knowledge with others in the tourney. You are much more experienced in fighting game you learn faster than most of us. You are the leader of AH in NYC (organizing tourneys + taking videos), if you don’t point out the areas for others to improve it’s going to take a long time before they become killers. Stop waste your time posting craps here, spend time learning the game, so you will able to teach others to deal with gier Kamui plus other stuiff then you can have your competition and group of killers. Yup, that’s what you will do if you really want to have a great AH community in NYC. But…

It’s all about SBO, isn’t it?

Henry = profit driven individual
Sabin = SBO driven individual
tianyuan = YAAFI being accused for insulting others’ intelligence by the player he respected a lot due to a mere friendly reminder

Yeah, shit is the internet, problem solved:looney:

He knows, he was quoting me towards tian as well… internet is silly yo. People need to read more

Stone:
You sound like you’re coming to Austin… in which case I’d better pull some silly Konoha BS to make you wish we had the revision :looney:

Once again, is ANYONE going to CF today/tomorrow?

(I’ll be there today around 4 to get some AH in)

You’re making no more sense than Master Chibi when he posts. You’re just posting to post. You say you respect the nigga but all you doin’ is talkin’. Shut the fuck up.
