The Official Custom Arcade Sticks Thread II: A New Era of Builders

anyone know if nitewalker makes good arcade sticks?

I’ve did some searching the forums and found that everyone keeps posting not to use the Quantum Fighter Pad. Well, It’s too late for me damn it! Has anyone had any success with getting the L and R triggers to work?

is there such a thing as a ps2-to-xbox360 adapter?

Yes, as far as I’ve been told there is, but I haven’t found a damn name yet. I’m looking for the same thing for my own stix, so can someone fill us in?

Hey whuts up guys - I saw the link on one of these threads before but I can’t find it now. It was one page and it was a picturegraph of how the 360 stick should be assembled. Had all the parts in a veritcal showing of how they should be put together - N e one have this link?

Friends, countrymen, lend me your ears.

I am attempting to create what I would consider to be a most righteous undertaking. I wish to mesh together two of my most prized possessions: my Nintendo DS and my arcade stick. I’ve always wanted to be able to play my DS fighters such as the Bleach game and… well that’s pretty much all I can think of now. But whatever, I want to play them with an arcade stick. Having built one of my sticks (I was lazy and also unable to obtain a box for the two others I have so I got DreadedFist to build them) and having a background in electronics I have no qualms with dismantling a DS and hooking it up to buttons and a stick. My problem simply lies in semantics.

I’m 6000 miles from the US and most places won’t ship to APOs.

As such, the supply for wood here, and pretty much any building material, is pretty… dry. No pun intended. In this wonderful desert paradise I would attempt to build a box from sand but I fear it would blow away in the first strong breeze that flies by. As such, I am wishing to enlist the aid of someone capable of building boxes for arcade sticks willing to do a custom box for me that would allow me to mount my DS screens inside of it.

Any one know where I could find someone enough willing to aid? Survival is not guaranteed. Bring your own weapons. I have only done this once.

Need help with a DC Mad Catz PCB

I’ve had these PCBs sitting around for awhile and I finally decided to get off my ass and make a couple of sticks with these. Basically, I need to know exactly where to solder at on these. I’ve been out of the stick building thing for awhile so I’m forgot some of the terms, but I’ll be running through the previous threads for those. Also, don’t I need the ground connection, and where do I solder for that also? Here is a pic of the PCB:

screws for mounting plate

can someone plz tell me the exact measurements of the screws that hold a JLF to its mounting plate?

thank you

dammit…anyone know an EASY place online to get 24mm & 30mm wood boring/spade bits??? I’ve tried all the usual places and I ain’t finding shit…

what is the size of the artwork of the sfac arcade stick?
tat_guy will ignore me untill I tell him the size
thanx

Only place I’ve found for 30mm spade bit and got them in very little time.

Since everyone is Neglecting this thread, I’ll drop some knowledge.

PRIMETIME87: http://happcontrols.com/images/pdf/ins-0057.pdf

RUSSELBAER: From the the center of the stick they are 5/8" directly north, south, east and west of the center.

DARKMAN X: look for any 1 1/4" in Hole saw or go with a 1 3/16" spade bit. as for the 24mm use a 1" spade bit.

HECZ: Last time I checked i think the SFAC was like 20" x 12" or something rather huge. I dont know entirely, but I would suggest just tape measuring it.

Hey guys, question…

Is there a document with pics or schematics for how I make a stick with multiple system support (no converters) Do I just wire in parallel or something to the two PCBs?

you can use db15 (unless you need more pins) or molex connectors, wire each pcb to a molex or db, and wire the stick and buttons to another molex or db and you can just switch systems by plugging and unplugging. its pretty easy. just takes time

Ahhhhhh, good idea with the molex connectors, hadn’t thought of that.

Are there any advantages to db15 over molex or is it just whatever I can scrounge up?

I’ve never done this before, can I use db25 if I need more pins?

What do you guys use to cut the lexan? I don’t see it mentioned anywhere.

thx, but i asked for the screws itselfes not the holes  . i figured it out already. thx anyway

@fallback: i use a jigsaw, sawblade for metal. high speed, move slow

If you can use Plexiglass (acrylic) instead of Lexan (polycarbonate), I highly recommend it. Plexi is not that hard to work with and it does not scratch as easy.

Lexan gets little tiny scratches all over it under normal/light use.
