Hey toodles, since the Gamecube controller only uses 3 pins is it possible to make a usb-gamecube cable that will work with the MC Cthulhu?

usb= G D E V
gamecube = G F V

you need 5 pins to make both ā€œconsolesā€ work

Looks like I’m going to have to give in and buy a soldering iron.

I’m dual modding my 360 madcatz se with chimpsmd and I was wondering how you guys connect the buttons to the chimpsmd to remain solderless? I’ve seen sandwiching the wire between the quick disconnect and sandwiching the wires into the ribbon cable connector but dont really like either of those options very much. I was thinking about trimming a piece of the wire from the center and connecting it that way or just soldering the new wires to the quick disconnect. Thanks

I think you are over complicating things with the options you describe.

Why not just do it the simple way - solder a wire to each of the button signals on the 360 motherboard then connect these wires to the ChImp SMD’s screw terminals. You do not need to touch the buttons, or their quick disconnects, at all.

Yes i understand that, but i might be mistaken but i thought people used the chimpsmd because of the ease of being solderless. I dont have a problem soldering, i was just wondering.

It’s only reliably solderless if you’re only using it for PS3 & PC. If you’re dual modding it then soldering is the most stable way of doing so.

Cthulhu and Multi-Console Cthulhu and chImp SMD are only solderless when PlayStation 3.
That means when using those PCB in a Custom Arcade Stick.

If you want a Solderless Dual Mod for TE, the TE Kitty is made for buying.

Good solderless for above PCB because of use Screw Terminals.
Bad solderless when you do it your way of sticking wires into things.

Need some help with my chimp. I put this in a 360 madcatz se and the test on the pc everything is fine except for the home home button was always on. So I tested it on ps3 and everything is also fine except home button which i disconnected so i could test it on the ps3. Then on 360, the home button still doesnt work. Help would be great guys

To completely shoot from the hip, it sounds like your home button is connected to the GND somewhere. Quickest way is continuity check on a multimeter. Just put one probe on the home joint and one on a GND. If it beeps, go hunt down where the two are connecting.

yes sir you are correct it is grounded, but only the madcatz wiring is connected to the turbo and main pcb. I soldered to the terminal strip pcb and cut into the wire harness of the joystick.

so one more problem, the guide button now works on ps3 and pc but not 360. When it’s in the ps3 the xbox led on the turbo panel is off and the button functions normally. The xbox led is also off when plugged into 360 but it doesnt work. Maybe 2 times each the xbox led has been on for both ps3 and 360 and everything worked fine for both. It doesnt appear to be a loose connection because the home button always works on the ps3 whether the xbox led is on or off. Once again help would be great

I have a stick modded with a chimpSMD and 4716 Madcatz 360 pad. When playing Soul Calibur on the 360 every time contact is made between two characters, the stick will disconnect. But when playing SF4 and other fighters on the 360 it works fine. Doesn’t sound like it’s a ChimpSMD problem. I believe it’s something on the Madcatz side. But I figured I’d ask to see if someone has an answer.

Use multimeter to test for voltage on the Guide signal line on the Xbox360 pad, when the stick is plugged into an Xbox360. Measure both when the button is pressed and when not. If its high (>1 volt) even with the button pressed, you messed up your wiring from the Xbox360 pad to the button. If it’s high when not pressed and low (<1 volt) when pressed, then something fubared on the Xbox360 pad; replace it. If its low all of the time, then you shorted it to ground somewhere. Fix it.
Or contact a modder to do the troubleshooting for you.

?? What do you mean ā€˜every time contact is made between two characters’?
But, no, I havent heard of that sort of problem.

Thanks Toodles I got it. The white wire in the usb was loose going into the chimp, but I did want to ask if when plugged into a 360 that isnt on if the leds on the chimp and the xbox led were supposed to be on. But everything works great. Thanks

The match loads up and then as soon the two characters starting fighting the controller will disconnect.

That’s beyond weird, but I dont see it having anything to do with the Chimp.

Maybe Madcatz has patched the game to only use Soul Calibur TEs :rofl::rofl::rofl:

OOOOO Toodles!

lol was watching cartoons with the kiddos this morning and couldn’t stop laughing about this XD

Anyways I got my stuff in the mail today, came a day sooner than USPS predicted. Good show ole chap.

Anything specific I should know about swaping the ps3 chip and the MC chip so I don’t end up breaking something?

So I modded my se stick with the chimpsmd and it was working fine on my 360 for about two weeks. I even tested it out on a ps3 and it worked too. However, I tried playing it yesterday on my 360 and it would not register. Basically, when connected to my 360, the chimpsmd would go into 360 mode but it was as if the 360 itself could not detect it was there (the first player led would not show up on the stick or the system). Any suggestions? If I need to elaborate more on the situation let me know. Thanks.
