Yes when I click properties on the PC, the test appears to work. When I press the buttons a corresponding light lights up and when I move the joystick the test shows what direction I am moving in.

Well, those tests are all clear then and I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be working on either console.

Tried updating the firmware (if it needs it)? The instructions & software can be found in the first post of this topic.

I just received a MC Cthulhu modded VSHG. When it plug it into the PC, it would ā€œplugā€ and ā€œunplugā€ repeatedly (those noises Windows 7 makes), and it tells me the USB device cannot be identified.

Also, it doesn’t work on the PS3 or 360, but it does work for PS2. Ideas?

EDIT: If I hold down ā€œstartā€ and ā€œselectā€ when plugging into PC (trying to update firmwate) it still says device not recognized, but would not plug and unplug repeatedly.

Quick question I’m getting the chimpsmd should I follow the donovan guide?

I’m definitely interested in buying the chImp for my 360 stick but my only concern is the soldering. How difficult is it? I’ve honestly never soldered anything in my life but I need my stick to be able to play on a ps3 for an upcoming tournament lol. Also is there a risk of messing up the chImp permanently if the soldering isn’t perfect?

Hey, guys.

I’m planning on making a dual modded joystick from scratch. I’ve ordered a ChImpSMD.

Would I be better off using a Sanwa JLF-TM-8T-SK Joystick as opposed to a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Joystick? For the sake of wiring rather than using a harness?

Or can I just wire straight to the microswitches?

Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure, but if you’ll link it up I’ll take a look over it.

Chimps are out, so I hope you mean the ChimpSMD. The ChimpSMD doesn’t require soldering anything to it, so unless you plug it into a wall socket or use a meat tenderizer, permanently damaging the ChimpSMD on accident should never happen.

The wire harness (JLF-TP) is WAY easier to use, and no drawbacks.

Woohoo, got my FGW converters today, thanks Toodles. Can’t wait to play with them, gonna make adapters nice and portable especially with 360 SE pcbs.

Also I think you should bring back the Metal Slug Zombie av. That baby angel brain creeps me out.

It’s a lot friendlier than the original Fetus of God
YTMND - Fetus of God

oh my fetus of god. toodles you just made my life so much better . I think I’m going to order one tonight

is there a preferred usb cable to go along with it?

If you’re installing it in a custom stick case, any of the USB cables LizardLick sells will do nicely; I’m fond of the 15’ black, but the 15’ clear, 10’ black, or 10’ clear will all work fine.
If you’re installing it in a production case that already has a build in USB cord, like the TE, you dont need to buy a USB cable, you can just use the one already there and just screw the USB wires into the screw terminals.

So, does that mean regular ChImps are done for?

Yeah, they’ve been too big of a pain. ChimpSMD is just better all around.

Aw. None left? I liked them. Now how is jdm714 gonna do his Super-Duper?

He wont have to. Kitty’s will take care of that.

wow yeah that was a really silly question from me. thanks for the help i’ll be ordering one asap

Oh no! The soldelressness I’m hearing. I don’t like it

Kitty’s still in the works? I never knew what happened to You’re a Kitty!

But when I first read that, I did think of your cats actually opening and modding sticks.

Hey Toodles,

Any chance I can buy some replacement chips for the MC Cthulu board? I need 3 and if this is possible would you be kind enough to tell me how much these will cost and best way to send you the money for them.

Is my understanding correct that the Cthulu and MC Cthulu are the same and its just a difference of chips (and additional diodes). Can I put a MC cthulu chip in the standard Cthulu?

Please excuse me if this has been explained elsewhere, I just couldnt find it.

Thanks

I have a stick with a MC Cthulu and detachable cables (http://shoryuken.com/f177/rj45-detachable-cables-how-178604/), and it works well on ps3, on pc and on ps3 with a ps2 cable + a ps2->ps3-converter, but not on the ps2. I’ve tried updating the firmware, but it’s still the same problem.

Is there anyone who have any idea what might be wrong? Me and the one who made the stick just can’t understand what is wrong. We feel that it is such a weird error.
