lol. Toodles already stated a couple of pages back that he’ll post a tutorial up on how to dual mod using the Cthulhu. More reading, less wondering.
My sincerest most heartfelt apologies.
No worries. Just giving you a hard time.
Yeah, I skipped through some pages and naturally it was on one that I missed. Either way, I look forward to seeing the tutorial. Looking at the document that is linked to in the first post it looks like it shouldn’t be too hard to do so I suppose I will be switching my preorder to the 360 version now.
I asked this in the stick thread but it’ll probably get an answer in here.
If I got the 360 stick and the cthulu board, from the pictures Ive seen it looks like the wires from the buttons go into one side of the board and the wires from the joystick go to the other side of the board. Then a USB cord goes out from the board to your pc/ps3. Thats fine and I understand that but how does it then still work with the 360? Also, I’m assuming I’d have to desolder it from the original pcb to put the wires into the cthulu? Does the board come with instructions or anything showing what buttons go into what part of the board? Id definitely buy a preassembled one.
Sorry if these are obvious questions but I am quite the noob…
Per, that AMP Connector is brilliant.
toodles, i must say that cthulhu is awesome. Thanks for making this incredible board. I’m loving it with its easy plug n play.

Toodles, I got the Cthulhu to work with the JLHS and it is AWESOME!
Now I need to mod the actuator a bit to make the throw a bit smaller, then it will be perfect ^_^!
I will contact you regarding a BIG order in January, Merry Christmas ;).
Wow TRNG, that’s a mighty fine stick!
1-Cthulhu works on PS3; it doesn’t work on the 360. You need a whole 'nuther pad to do the 360 communication, which is why I’ve been suggesting people get a 360 madcatz stick. As for how and all of that, either spend some time reading up in the ‘2 pcbs in one stick…possible?’ thread, or sit tight and wait until we get directions up.
2-Same answer as 1.
3-Yes. There is a welcome document you can look at linked in the first post. One of those comes with every board sold and includes labels to show which screw terminal does what, but also what the unlabelled batch of holes do in case you want to use the Cthulhu in a dual pcb setup. It also says that such mods are advanced and won’t be supported.
Thanks for the answers. Looks like I’ll be sticking to the PS3 version then.
got a chutlhu and will be doing a 360 add on to it. I really like that the 360 has the break-away usb cable and was thinking of splicing together the 360 cable with a usb-b cable. So that I can plug it in the chutlhu and still have the breakaway end.
Has anyone else done this? Anyone know if this is possible? It seems like it should be.
You CAN do it, but I can’t think of any reason you’d want to. The USB cable that comes with 360 pads is top notch, no argument here.
If you wanted your stick to be only the cthulhu, then it’d be much more solid to solder the USB cable directly to the stick. Let me know if this is what you’re wanting to do and I’ll list up what goes where. Soldering directly to the board would be much more solid than jimmying up a B connector to the end and plugging that in.
If you’re wanting to dual pcb it with a 360 pad so you can use either the Cthulhu or the 360 pad over the same single USB cable, you can, but you won’t be using a B cable at all. You’d have to install a DPDT switch in your stick, with the D+ and D- wires from both pcb’s going to it, and the USB cable coming off of that so the switch determines which PCB’s D+ and D- wires are connected to the USB cable. There haven’t been any in depth directions on how to do this posted up yet, but many people have done exactly this. Check out the ‘2 pcb’s in one stick’ thread for a lot more information on how it’s done.
Toodles, I recently bought a 360 madcatz controller and tried a dual pcb. I was not able to get the button select cable to work on it. The 360 only recognizes it when I use a dedicated 360 cable. Am I missing something here or is this due to the new madcatz controllers?
Edit: sorry I posted in the wrong thread. I moved this question to the other thread.
I’m not understanding what you’re meaning. The only time I’ve heard of a button select cable is with a UPCB, not a Cthulhu. Describe how you hooked everything up, maybe a picture or two so I can see what you did and I’ll definitely try to help.
I went ahead and bought one, this shit better be worth it yo!
Question, why is the PCB named after H.P Lovecraft?
If you were to connect green wires to all the button connections/GND/VCC and just let them hang, it looks like the Cthulhu.
finally got the chance to install a cthulhu into a friend of a friend’s stick over the weekend. gotta say it was a pretty easy and straight forward experience.

props to toodles for coming up with a great product and user friendly design.
^^just curious. does your stick have one usb plug for both 360/ps3?
