And the bolt actions suck. Hence my frustration.
However, I probably just need to unlock a better bolt action.

Bolt actions are good just not the starting one. Bullet drop really is not that hard to get used to.
The bullet drop isn’t bad. The rifle I have just feels like shit, and it seems like a lot of the maps aren’t set up to let snipers do their work. Perfect placement of trees and stuff interrupts logical sniping paths. Which is both cool, and frustrating. More the former.
It also kind of messes me up that it doesn’t auto chamber another round after your shot.
That is an unlock for the Bolt Actions, just takes awhile to get to depending on which one you use. M40A is the best one right now, for some reason the L96 is bugged and just doesn’t hit anything even if you are dead on.
Is that what the straight bolt does?
Yes that is what the straight bolt does.
You’ll have to forgive my ignorance. I got BF3 on release, and only played for a couple of weeks before stopping until about a week or two ago.
So, I learned that being good can apparently get you banned from servers.
My brother and I usually hit up servers together. I go as Assault (AEK/4x scope/forgrip/heavy barrel), he goes as Support(M249/ironsights/bipod). Last night, we were playing on Grand Bazaar, which is one of my most favorite maps EVERRRR. The match begins, we are playing on the Russian side, and our team is quickly pushed back to our spawn. My brother tells our squad to meet up in the back, and to follow both of us. We managed to fight our way to E and cap it. Luckily, one of our squadmates was an Engineer and disposed of their vehicle support rather quickly. After clearing E, we made our way to B and capped it. Immediately afterwards, we rushed back down to C and capped it. During this whole time, not a single fucking person on our squad died, and my brother was sitting at like 18 kills. We made sure to run back to E and hold it down while others began spawning elsewhere. I guess our plan lit a fire in some people’s asses because our team turned everything around very quickly. We went from 150-200 tickets behind to an even match. We were trying our hardest not to get excited and screw up.
Then, out of no where, I get kicked from the server with the reason “Clan stacking is against rules.” My brother then got kicked for the same reason. I added the two squadmates to my friends list and asked them what happened, and they got the same reason. The only two people in the squad that could be linked together were my brother and I (SithPL, CrackaPL). Apparently, we played so well together that admin kicked us.
Kids these days.

Yeah some admins are ridiculous with their servers.
You DO realize you can check what game-types are being played yes?
It is all good man.
Whats wrong with TDM? Its pretty decent on this game. Its not the main mode but if you want to learn how to handle your guns then it is the go to mode really because the maps are smaller and there are no vehicles so you only have to focus on the gun fights. TDM really improves your game and when I’m in a rough patch losing too many gun fights on Rush or CQ then I will hop into TDM just to brush up and figure out new set ups.
There is a search function and quite often the servers you want will have something like “All maps”, “CQ 24/7”, “Rush 24/7” and “TDM 24/7” so all you need to do is search for those and you will find a whole list of servers you want and then you can favourite them so you don’t need to search for them again. Its really useful and very easy.
Who thought Operation Metro would be a good idea? Seriously? Who at DICE hates their fans this much.
I actually really like Operation Metro, but only on servers that ban explosives. With grenades, rockets, claymores, and all that other shit, it just turns into a very anti-fun map.
The only map I dislike is Seine Crossing. EVERYBODY camps in the buildings.
Theres a difference between “camping” and holding a position. Say somebody is defending C flag, then the building on the street at A which looks across is a really good building to defend from. If someone kills me from one of those buildings then I just pop out my rpg or M320 and blast the walls to pieces. They don’t stay in there long. Camping on the other hand is a guy laying halfway inside a wall nside a bush with a shotgun just blasting people as they walk past and never moving even without any clear view of objectives or open spaces.
The only map I don’t really like is Operation Firestorn because there aren’t enough vehicles for the whole team but there are too many to make any infantry battles fun. I have gone an entire game in the middle of the map walking up and down the length of the 3 bases and maybe seen 1 person if I’m lucky, its just very boring.
Lol no people flat out camp in Sienne Crossing, that is when I go shotgun sweeping. I have seen the building across from A with claymores in it, people camping the stair down stairs, someone camping the door way and 4 more people sniping in the room.
See there are people who lay down in the stairs of a building for an entire game just looking at the doorway with a shotgun and that is camping because they’re just looking out for themselves and not helping their team. But, in your example, the people upstairs and shooting out from the windows are still exposed and they are providing some over watch on an objective. It is rare that I see these people in there for the entire game because of the walls getting blown out over time and things.
Campers give themselves a very restricted view in a corner somewhere and just wait for people to walk past. Defending a building for as long as you can to help your team in gaining a view of an objective is very different and can be beaten but when you walk past someone laying down in some obscure corner then that is what I have a problem with because they end up with 3 kills and 0 deaths or something after a whole round and they clearly havn’t PTFO’d. Those people are campers, the others are just using effective defensive strategies and there are plenty of ways around that.
Defending a flag is what my good friend Cawicaliber does(Sometimes way too much) on Seine Crossing when he sets up Claymores and makes a nest overseeing C-Flag. Camping is like what Jae mentioned already when somebody is just sitting at the top of a staircase with a Shotgun/AR/M249. and not PTFO.
