The Official Battlefield 3 Thread

I’ve found other assault rifles are far more efficient for that than the Famas. I just don’t think it’s as OP as people claim it is, it’s a very situational AR.

On a different note, they need to hurry up with that extended mag for the AS Val, it’s an amazing PDW but such a small mag!

Currently using the G3A3(lol) and FAMAS for Assault until CQ DLC or the patch drops. Current new favorite weapons are:

-QBB-95(Support)
-M1014
-PP2000

Doing “Quick turns” in a Jet is hard on a controller also why do I see the M249 SAW everywhere? Is that the FAMAS or Support weapons?

The QBB-95 is fantastic! So far I only used it to get a service star, but it’s a great weapon! At the moment though, I’ve kind of stuck with the MG36, the burst is very good with it, two quick taps and the enemy is usually down, this works at medium to long too.

I can’t make my mind up with the ARs but for some reason I keep coming back to the F2K. I’m a little disappointed that they only included the MTAR-21 as opposed to the long barrel AR version, I would have loved to have a TAVOR for Assault, I’d also like to see MK23 and Sig 226, unlikely, but a man can dream! As far as PDW, I never tried the PP2000, it’s either P90 or the hip-firing death machine - though recently I’ve taken up the AS-VAL.

I -think- the M249 is taken by many because of the higher ROF.

I use an X-box pad. There are actually 2 break buttons, you need to bind hard brake on a controller because only soft break is mapped.

Actually scratch that, the only reason I have a hard and soft brake is from this: http://bf3.realmware.co.uk/settings-editor/version-history PC only though

Ha well I think its still OP but not as much as people believe. Its just because everyone uses it that you feel like its totally ravaging you. I usually die between 4-8 times a round and I can guarantee that, at most, only 2 of those wont be frags or FAMAS. I pretty much use the QBU-88 sniper or the MG36 and it counters teams loaded with FAMAS or Frags pretty well with either the accuracy and fire rate over distance of the 88 or the extended mag, low recoil and fast reload of the MG36 especially with burst over distance.

Quite looking forward to the G53 buffs as its a nice engy gun to handle.

Is the QBU-88 actually any good? I haven’t touched it, I have my preferences to bolt action if I’m taking a sniper rifle at all and it will generally be the M98B, but if you want to be really grimey until the patch comes out, you can use the L96 because currently it has no scope glare at all.

The G53 is getting buffed? Really? I thought it was pretty awesome already, again, burst mode is very good indeed.

It has the lowest recoil of any semi-auto sniper. Reload kinda sucks but you can spam shots just not like the SKS.

I think everything not named FAMAS or Frag rounds will be getting a small buff/nerf in the patch IIRC stuff getting NO changes are:

-M16A3/4
-M4A1
-870MCS

Re MG36: I don’t like it though it’s up there as far as magazine fed LMG’s go. Cawi uses that gun almost exclusively I prefer the QBB-95 or the M27 IAR, right now I’m using the M249 cause I play an aggressive support role with C4 and blowing shit up. Makes me wonder how I got 500 kills with the PKP.

Yeh mostly I use the MG36 just on my way to 5000 kills with it. Really started using the 88 quite a bit now too, I feel less dirty using it than cheaping it out with the SKS but its still great if you can headshot a full squad of 4 with it and its decent at mid range which is great for high pressure recons like myself. Hip fire no scopes with the 88 is good too for a sniper rifle

High pressure recon can really cause some havoc getting in the thick of it and placing tugs and spawns close to the action. Bolt actions are more for the play it safe snipers who set up camp in high places but I find its easier to win if you play aggressive.

You will -never- find me camping on Recon, and trust me, I can play a good agressive recon with a bolt action. I tried it with an auto-sniper and always went back to bolt or straight the the hip-firing death machine that is the MP7.

I usually just roll with a PDW/Shotgun on Metro or Seine Crossing(Ugh) or if the map has some more open spaces I can be stupid and go with the SKS or MK11/Type-88 with a KOBRA RDS+Fore grip.

Only time I use a bolt-action is when the other team is spawn-trapped.

Only time I use a bolt action is when I fucking feel like it, I am that gangsta. I am that crazy fucker running into Conquest Points with a sniper rifle on his back trying to cap things.

Bolts do work but I find it a little more risky because if you run into a whole squad then its tough work staying alive as the ROF is very low, they are realy designed for picking people off rather than full on gun fights. I find the 88 with x7 scope gives me range but close to mid it helps to keep enemy pressure against me to a minimum with solid suppression. I also run the M93R pistol as backup which helps me a lot…

Suppressed G18 is my sidearm when I run Recon.

I play recon more now, is really fun and it takes a lot of skill and a different mindset, is really fun to play it on Caspian and Grand Bazzar (TDM), is really satisfying to play it with bolt action rifles and an agressive style.

I am the only one that hates all these idiots hating the new expansion? i see all the time stupid arguments like “lol BF wants to be COD”, there is anything wrong with strategic CQC? also new players =/= Cod players, BF is a complete different animal.

I’ve heard that DICE wants to introduce a new subscription service, i wonder what would it be.

Any tips about using the AS VAL? is a good pdw but the mag hurts me -_- i think i’m cool using it without some attachments and i like it for some CQC encounters.

No cause people think anything with CQC is CoD-like or cause apparently Battlefield has NEVER had CQC maps apparently. I think it’s a neat change. The teaser for CQ looked pretty cool and didn’t have a million places to head-glitch like yer usual CoD map.

For the AS-VAL I usually was either a Support or Recon I used it with the KOBRA RDS and a Laser Sight.

That’s what I don’t understand though. People are bitching it’s too much like CoD, when in reality it’s more like actual warfare. I don’t understand the player mentality that says all maps must be huge and resist any kind of change to that model.

The actual best way to play Recon if you are going to use a Bolt Action is to basically zone at mid screen. You don’t want to be at bush wookie level where you are so far away you get 4-6 kills and alot of points but do jack shit for your team. But you still want to be far enough away you can get head shots so your teamates can sweep up the rest.

O Snaps

DICE Will Reveal BF3 Patch Release Date Tomorrow, PC Patch Won’t Come Sooner, And More

SRK frontpage this news right now!

I’m not sure I agree with that, even the marksman points aren’t going to add up to a decent score if all you do is camp out the whole game, compared to actually capping objectives and moving with your squad, providing overwatch, using your kits to check an area before/as your squad move in, then you can move up with them.
